commercial lobster is what has wiped out the lobster here in cali. when you see around 30 cages right in front of shore only about 30ft apart what are the chances of any lobster to survive like that?most divers that try to get lobster barely catch any legal ones(cannot just take any size,we carry a gauge to measure)and for the price of the dive trip ,average $150 ,limit 7 lobsters(chances are you get 2 or none) is kind of fun but if you really crave lobster ,go to the market...we just like scuba

this diver just got lucky to find a structure like this that the lobsters are totally exposed and the camera man to scare them back to him;they are usually between rocks and deep cracks that are not arms reach during the day @ night they are scattered;you are only allow to catch them by hand and not more than 7 in one day and now you have to "tag"extra info on the license for game control..I am suspicious of how many he has in the bag,because you are not allow to sort them out at the surface...

@ntrxdiver After "40 Years" of diving this area, we get LUCKY alot! Dont worry there is only 21 Lobsters in the bag. 3 Divers times 7 Lobsters/day. Thanks for worrying about us though!

Yes it's LEGAL, but the commercial Lobster guys who own the trap can get kind of upset when he sees SCUBA bubbles around his trap! Better to just dive other areas where there are no traps set!

These are pacific spiny lobsters,Just a different species, but just as tasty. When I left Cali 4 years ago the limit was 7 per day measured 3.25 from the eye sockey to the end of the carapace (main body shell) Had to measure just over of it was too short.

Wow... I can't believe I actually felt a sense of remorse when the other diver went grabbing the lobsters which were resting under a metal plank on the sea bed.

When you came close towards them with a source of light, they retreated alittle as if they knew something unfortunate is going to occur any moment. They were right about it.

I wonder what really happened to the once united and peaceful family of king prawns. Perhaps the video maker should know the answer to this question...

I just ate two spinys for dinner (september starts the season on the big island of hawaii).

Bought them off the side of the road, still flopping around. These are the best lobsters, hands down. The meat is so damn sweet, it's crazy.
