at eleven minutes into the video you mention that the social structure in the 14th century was fairly modern. I'm not a Historian by any means but during the Roman period is there evidence of that type of society? The reason I'm asking is because i am wondering if there was a downturn only in the so called dark ages. I am attempting to put together an overall picture of Ecology and Economy
Romans? In the 14 century? Do you mean the Holy Roman Empire? By Social Structure (I think) he means the basic form modern Social Structure -Hierarchical globalizing stratified societies that emerged in the 12th to 15th centuries.
Anyway back to topic. Sorry if this sounds naive, but "Who is this person?" (non-judgmentally). I'm not good with faces just names and I want to follow up on this.
Sorry i will try to clarify. I was wondering if there was evidence of a modern society or a non peasant society when the English Island was controlled by the Romans from 43 A.D. to 410 A.D. What I was trying to ascertain was if England only had a social downturn during the so called dark ages, I have been trying to find accurate information about this but so far i have come up empty
As a person with Asperger's Syndrome with more intellectualised notions of social relationship rather than instinctual I am prone to fascination with this subject. I do wonder though whether new ideas about the human pysche (well: in this case nuero-diversity) such as Autistic Spectrum Disorders are applied retrospectively to previous interpretive studies: e.g. validity of evidence based on assumed motivation of source which mght be based on a broad assumption of human motivators etc?
