I find it funny how some of the pundits on CNBC are actually saying that this problem was caused buy having too much 'free market capitalism', which is a joke because this really isn't a free market when the Fed, a private bank, decides the interest rates, not the free market.

The relatives I knew who survived the depression owned land, had goats, chickens, a garden, and bartered. They also knew some construction and how to make things and do their own repairs. They didn't have electricity, and had an outhouse with a septic tank. They canned their own food for winter and made their own clothes. They had a horse and cart to get to town.

Depending on the state you live in, you will be limited to the type of arms you can get.

If you live in a state like California, get a Saiga, SKS, M1 carbine, M1 garand, or M1A.

If you live in the cities, buy a good semi-automatic handgun. A glock 17, 22, Beretta 92FS/M9, Sig Sauer, or a machine pistol.

Food is number one. It should be a balance and appropriate to your budget. Get a cheap Mosin Nagant or SKS and 2000 rounds, or a Remington 870 and the Mossberg, and then an inexpensive revolver, a .38 special or much larger caliber if there's money left over, but build up at least one year's food supply before buying expensive weapons. Survival Blog(dot)com is my favorite source on info on the subject. Search the archives. No theories are entertain there. It is all practical.

Stock up on gear that will be essential. Cutting tools...sharp blade for skinning animals, water purifier (high quality/water is life!) good pack (eberlestock) changes of clothing (under armor under garments dry very quickly and wash very easily) The key to defense is avoided any situation where you can be shot at. You dont wanna be close enough to HAVE to use your ar15. Get good at shooting 500 yards or more. Learn snap shooting, get night vision, get force multiplying gear...

It is very important to be armed. You really need some firepower and flexibility. Also you will likely be up against organized, groups of looters or tyrannical government agents. To think you can fight them off with a couple of shotguns and 40's is naive. You need to organize you and your friends, all pack AR15s with a vest loaded with 10 magazines and more in your pack. Train regularly, train seriously. Do not engage unless you have the advantage or you will die, pretty much for sure.

I agree with everything you said, but if you were good and practiced with your guns, you could easily take 2 men out with a good pistol. Like I said, the information I gave was a start for average people. That is why I say "at least." A pistol and a good rifle is enough for someone to fight off a few gangsters. But, like I said, that should be a starting point for someone, then, after they practice and get good and know how to use weapons, they can look into things like M16s.

Well it really just depends. The point I try to make in my survival strategy video is that it is more important to be able to choose your battles by having superior information awareness, not really the weapons you have. I could walk around at night killing quietly with a slingshot and lead balls. Also pistols are rather ineffective self defense weapons. A long gun is FAR superior in accuracy, effective range, and stopping power. For weapons I recommend an XD45 and AR15. Get silencers as well

I was talking about self-defense, if someone broke into your home. In that case, pistols and rifles are fine. People should organize small, militia-like groups with their friends too.

You are smart. Thank you for posting. Here in France, there are two tent cities near me and alcohol and cigarette sales are way down. Yesterday I saw an illiterate black African woman in traditional attire with a baby strapped to her back, and she could not read the price ticket on the watermelon she wanted to buy. She picked out grapes and the melon, went to pay, and didn't have enough money for both. (I regret I did not buy them for her, but I was very shocked.) Keep posting.

In May there were about 87 million working age Americans who weren't employed. Now, since it's July, unemployment is much higher than 5 or 10%. Look at the housing survey when you have time, along with the much-flawed establishment survey, and you'll see that many, many more jobs were lost( 285,000 in May to be exact). However, like I said in the video, if then NPE had of used the business "birth/death" model, Payroll Employment would have declined by declined 266,000 jobs.
