  • it s sooo obvious that it was made from usa

  • Confetti money - daylight robbery.

  • 0:31...OMG...what a landscape....!!!:O:)

  • Next Olympics are almost here!

  • Athens was my favorite Olympics - because I a Greek American and proud. However, everyone must understand each country adds its own twist which makes every Olympics unique and exciting. Looking forward to Rio! I'm sure they will put on a show.

  • They will do great promos on Rio landscapes and music...

    It will be great...

  • what the fuck are u all talking about? greece is one of the most ancient countrys in the world ...Dymocraxy borned there mathematic borned there the best warriors borned there the biggest history in the world...GREECE FOR EVER

  • Watching this video, you'd think that Santorini makes up 90% of Greece.

  • Hahaha. And the other 9.99% is the Corinth Canal. But I did love that nanosecond where they did show the Parthenon...

  • yeah, thats what I also thought :)

  • @skyduster4 Actually, this video includes pictures from many places in Greece, but pictures from Santorini are more than the others. They could use and other places which are different and so wonderfull too!believe me there are so many...!

  • @djlida

All over Greece? Over half the video is Santorini, most of the rest is the Acropolis. There's a few shots of the Shipwreck Cove in Zakynthos, some very, very, very brief shots of Mykonos and Patmos, and a bunch of shots of unidentifiable beaches and staircases. Noticeably absent are: anywhere in the Peloponnese, Crete, Thessalia, Epirus, or Makedonia. No neoclassical Syros, no medieval Meteora or Rhodes' medieval city, no baroque Corfu or Chania, and no Zagoria region or Kastoria.

  • @skyduster4 there is no mountainous Greece at all, Pilion, and Crete.

  • Brazil is a country with now, FIVE HUNDRED YEARS. If you think it has no history at all, then I must think we were sleeping in the moment of the discovery and woke up now...

We are a western country from Latin America, a mix of European, African and Indian cultures, so as the USA.

  • @sevlarievlis yes but the Europeans and Aficans have only been there for a few hundred years. The Indians and Latin Americans are the original Brazilians so I would brag about it! Your a pretty new country with added cultural diversity. Greece is original, genuine and 100% pure. Sorry love but Greece whoops your ass :- )

  • I´m not talking about Greece culture which is WWAAAAAAYYYYY older than ours. The Greeks have founded the western civilization, our civilization!!! I'm just saying that Brazil has something to show too, you'll see!!!! Trust us!!!

  • @sevlarievlis the greeks did not found western civilization. the greeks were primitive barbarians, just like the rest of the world at that time. many people think because greece had some smart people they were civilized, they were not. most of the people of ancient greece were barbaric and illiterate, had no education.

You have romanticized the reality of ancient greece.

  • @lostalex77

Relax. Just bc theres a couple bigotted people in Greece doesnt give you the okay to be just as bigotted. FYI, its YOUR country (AMERICANS) that constantly romanticizes Ancient Greece & Rome, & claims to be the successor to Greco-Roman civilization...which sounds absurd to modern-day South Europeans. In the 18th/19th centuries, ancient SOUTH EUROPEAN history came in vogue in Germanic & Anglo countries...hence why the US govt has borrowed so many Greek/Roman legal words & symbols

  • @DunhillX1 greece is 100% pure what do you mean by that?? you sound like hitler. so i guess you pay no attention to all of the black greeks, and asian greeks, and all other races of greeks?

fuck off with your racist bullshit.

  • Greece always!!!!!!!!!

  • Greece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol awful music

  • this was made by americans, so...

  • So alfaceandrice, what world class composers can you name from Brazil? Let's see...... uhhhhhhhhhh ..... oh well, there are none. LOL! You must be filled with lots of jealosy of Americans!

  • Sorry "EROSGODOFGAYS", but maybe you don't know:

Araújo J.G, Heitor Villa-Lobo, Luciano Gallet, Paulo Costa Lima, Edino Krieger, Eli-Eri Moura, Hubertus Hofmann, Jorge Antunes, Willy Corrêa de Oliveira, Maximianno Cobra, Osvaldo Lacerda, Livio Tragtenberg, Gilberto Mendes, Glauco Velásquez, Bento Mossurunga, Aylton Escobar, Esther Scliar, Carlos Gomes, Júlio Braga, Frederico Gerling Júnior, Fernando Mattos, and much more.

  • Oh alfaceandrice, these must be composers famous in Brazil and not internationally. I'll have to go find some on-line Brazilian references to learn about them!

  • That's what I meant, americans are known for their bad knowledgement about other cultures. so, a video from NBC should have been better, maybe with a greek song, etc.

Sorry to disappoint you, but most of them are really famous, but mainly Heitor Villa-Lobos which is very famous in Europe, for example, but mainly between people that apreciate classical music.

  • Sorry alfaceandrice, but American culture is young and modern. Our society is known for looking to the future and that is why NBC choose modern, contemporary music to engage a young modern society here in celebrating the history of the Greek Olympic Games. Classical music is just one kind of music among many. It is no better or worse than other forms of music. Again, the purpose of the NBC ad was to promote the Olympics to a young modern American audience - not a European or Brazilian audience.

  • OK, you won.

This is not gonna change the world.

    So see you, bye.

    And... Rio 2016!!!

  • No actually, alfaceandrice, you won. I copied the list of Brazilian composers and have been looking them up on-line.

My partner is Cuban. We have a music collection of Spanish speaking artists from South America, Cuba and Mexico. I love Juan Florez of Peru and have several pieces by Dulce Pontes of Portugal, but now I will learn about Brazilian classical music. Thank you for the education on Brazilian music.

  • Ok!!

You're welcome. Enjoy it, Brazilian music is very diverse just like american music etc, etc, etc.

More than classical music you should listen to Marina Lima, Maria Bethania, Chico Buarque, Bebel Gilberto, João Gilberto, Vinicius de Moraes, Elis Regina, Miucha, Zeca Baleiro, Ceu, Vanessa da Mata, among others.

  • The bottomline alfaceandrice is that your original comment is insulting to Americans. You are "two-faced" in that you probably think Americans are arrogant, but then you also probably think it is okay for you to insult American composers. If you throw insults at people, do not be surprised when they throw insults back at you!

  • I did not insult american composers, i just made a response to "d1versify".

but anyway, the song had nothing to do with an olympic games in Greece, which is an amazing nation.

I have nothing against US, just like 90% of the world, we just don't like some arrogant americans, not all americans are arrogants.

  • Made me feel nice since my orginal orgin is from Greece.

  • The first olympics were much earlier held. Their revival took place in 776 B.C

  • that's GREECE!!!! i love u!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MY MAJESTIC GREECE!!!

  • where is the song from

  • I don't know... But the only thing I can tell that this song was made for NBC by Rampage Music New York.

  • Needless to say this was nothing compared to the incredible cinematic BBC promos for the Athens Olympics.

  • gottagothatsme,

Let me say that commercials in the US are very different than the ones broadcasted in the UK. Networks usually make promos appealing to their viewing public.

For people in USA this commercial was one of the best NBC olympics commercials.

  • True, true. But have you seen the BBC promo?! It's NOTHING like what we usually get in the UK! It genuinely was like something you'd expect to see from a Hollywood studio!

  • does anybody know the song that is playing during this? i love it!

  • i don't know what the song is but i love it too!

  • cool
