  • This is cool

  • i'm saving orangutans by making a robotic one instead of buying one!!!

  • whoever brings harm to these beautiful animals or should I say Apes , I hope they die a slow and ugly death... who are we ( humans) to disrupt their lives and take away there forests. I hope we can stop this madness and corruption soon before we lose our distant cousin. Wake up people ( palm oil killers ) and come to your senses. Save the red apes and save their forests....Nuff said, take care....

  • c0o0o0o0ol

  • I wish I can do more to help. It is very sad to know they may not be in the wild much longer for my children to see them in the habitat like that.

If I had a billion dollars I would buy huge hunks of land and make them protected for the orangutan.

    thanks for the wonderful video

  • I agree! I don't buy lottery tickets very often, but whenever I do, my fantasy is always to donate all those millions of dollars to primate conservation groups. As a student of physical anthropology and human evolution, I do my best to express to people how important it is that we keep these apes alive, not only for their right to live, but for our own benefit. We learn so much from studying primate behavior in the wild. It really does break my heart to see their numbers dwindling.

  • It is so sweet to see these beautiful animals like this. Very cute....always thought it was cute and the babies are just perious. But, seeing a baby with his or her mommy is just outright breath taking.

Just looking at all of those beautiful babies without moms is just heart breaking. I may never see a mother and baby orangutan together. I seen them at the zoo and wow they are just soooooo wonderful. I fell in love.

    They are God's angels!!

  • I hate what people are doing to these wonderful, lovable animals. They deserve to live. It disgusts me an makes me sad.

  • I have always had a special spot in my heart for orangutans. I went to a zoo and saw a male from Borneo and I could not leave. The way he looked, acted, left a profound affect on me. When my parents told me we had to leave him. It broke my heart. I started crying. I was so fascinated with them. I am still fascinated with them to this very day. I love orangutans. The red ape.

  • i'm only 14 but i'v been busking in Melbourne to rase money for the Orangutans. i hope my hard work is helping.

  • Donating a penny would help. And I know that the orangutans are thankful.

    P.S. I'm only ten.

  • I seen a story on ABC tonight and it`s got my attention,I`m one small voice but I`m here and willng to use it,let me know what I can do!!!! I`m not rich,I know something has to happen,we as a race can`t afford to loose one of our cousins. More over what can Americans do? I did not realize how serious this has become.

  • Logging and clearing of rainforests in Borneo is destroying one of the most important carbon sinks on the planet. There is much rainforest area that has been cleared for the wood and sits unused. Sustainability is the key. When the West curbs its appetite for biofuels (which many mistakenly believe to be the answer to climate change), then this is a step towards preserving what is left of this magnificent species of Great Ape.

  • p/s. sorry for flooding of the comments. =D

  • No problem, Mandela. Thank you for opening the dialogue with such intelligent, well thought out comments.

  • But as yet, the government will still certainly have to depend on palm oil as we have no other choices. I do not mean to offend anybody but do have an open mind and ponder on what I have said. Thank you and May God Bless you.

  • The only reasonable solution is to harvest the palm oil sustainably. There is no need to destroy any more land. The Suharto regime cut down tens of thousands of hectares of forest and the land is not being used. Convert it to oil palm plantation. Leave the remaining forest intact. Stop killing innocent orangutans on the plantations. The palm oil companies should help pay for orangutan conservation. They are the reason they're on the verge of extinction so they should help save them!

  • @redapes ..Please watch my audition video for the opportunity to help save the orangutans in borneo..

it is under = kelly stamp, Action Agent..

I want to put a stop to palm oil plantations and insure the repopulation and cnservation of the orangutan species!!

  • However, I also know that it is certainly killing the Orang Utans. But what are we to do? Perhaps the United Nations (UN) can help us by giving some sort of financial help? Or 'compensation'. Or maybe even suggest an alternative. We are not as hard headed as you think. We are open to suggestions.

  • There has been talk in the EU of financing development that does not destroy the forests. The UN has no mandate. The UNEP released a great report last year about the palm oil crisis but no one read it. The international banks only care about making money and there's profit in palm oil. It's up to the people to stand up and defend their heritage from the corporations. Orangutans are symbolic of the greater destruction that is at hand. They are innocent victims of greed and nearsightedness.

  • ). Please do consider all these implications as well and maybe a solution can be made. Sometimes, the anti-Palm Oil campaign can be seen as a propaganda by the West to promote THEIR oil to improve their product sales. This in turn will cause us to lose economically. The Palm Oil industry has helped us locals up to a certain standard, and has improved our economy drastically.

  • The forests are being decimated- senselessly killing orangutans- and for what??? A few pieces of silver for the poor farmers while the rich businessmen in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Shanghai rake in millions? The greed of the palm oil industry cannot be justified. Even if the Malaysian economy is improving-- it is only at the expense of poor Indonesian people in places like Kalimantan, who are being sacrificed by the rich businessmen in Jakarta and their corrupt Dayak henchmen.

  • I appreciate very much that everyone around the world is assisting us to conserve the wonderful apes, which I myself is trying to help atm, but do keep an eye on certain foundations which does not handle the donations properly (eg. using the money to fly volunteers from the West all the way to Borneo- which will waste about 800 pounds sterling each for the return ticket).

  • Good point-- there are many organizations that are not transparent. However, all organizations are not like this. BOS adheres to strict accounting procedures and can answer for all its expenses. Volunteers are required to pay their own way. I cannot vouch for other organizations.

  • It is most of the time foreigners who comes here and hunt them for the illegal trade. We are not educated enough to arrange for international tradings as yet. Our education system is not that great.

  • The Malaysian people should protect the orangutans from foreigners, not allow them to kill them or capture them. Helping foreigners do this in eschange for a bit of money is tragically sad.

  • Deforestation and Palm Oil provides for Malaysia's economy. Without logging and the palm oil plantations, Malaysia will not even exist on the face of the earth. Although this may seem inhumane and money oriented, it is vital for the economy and Malaysia's development. I am a local from Sabah and it is not fair to give the impression that we 'kill them as pests'.

  • There are many instances in which orangutans have been killed for intruding onto plantation lands, when it is really the plantations that have intruded. the orangutans are hungry and searching for food. killing them is tantamount to murder and should not be tolerated. In the meantime, the rich get richer and the poor work for scraps in the global economy.

  • haha they are adorable!

  • Sadly, the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation's Nyaru Menteng Project, featured in this video, faces closure if funds are not found. Please help-donate, become a member, adopt an orangutan.

  • What amazing creatures, i wish i could be there to enjoy their antics in person, brings a tear to the eye to think that the locals kill them as pests!

    Wish i could do more!

  • Thanks for posting. That CU shot is really wonderful, if only I could eat oranges with that much class!

  • This is excellent video of a group of young Orangutans fighting for their very existence. Deforestation and Palm Oil trees are taking over the lands in which they live. Please lend a hand and email the address on the screen and donate something to help them.
