You can create .htaccess file by following below steps...

open notepad. File > Save As.In the file name type .htaccess, and in type make it to All Files. Click Save. You are done!

Did listing used to be default like a few years ago? Because i feel like it used to always list my stuff by default unless i changed .htaccess to do otherwise.
