G'day mate....that was a cracker of a review....typical aussie style...straight to the point...informative.....i think you have a bloody good review style please keep the vids coming....also it is nice to see a fellow aussie interested in bush gear...
I'd like to see an ESEE HEST vs. the RAT-3. I believe you can still find the HEST for maybe 200 bucks on the net. Kinda expensive but...Great review as always!
@TheRATPT01 I don't have a HEST to do a review. I see DPx is bring out some new fixed blades, the 6" looks interesting, but the price seems high. It will be interesting to see reviews when they get into folks hands.
Both are nice knives, I tend to like the Rat3 sheath a little better than the Nim Cub.
There is one thing I did notice, and that was when you equated police to the military. Sure they have a quazi-military structure, but that's as close to military as they come.
@VigilantOutlaw I probably should have clarified that remark. I was thinking of more specialist police units such as SWAT rather than general duty officers. Thanks for the comment, good one.
@GhostFishSlayer I think it is too small and light for that. It would serve in an emergency but there are better stainless options out there. If you're on a budget check out the SOG Field Pup (review coming soon), if money is no object, look at Fallniven knives.
Thanks for the comparison/ review, never seen these two compared before. I'm a fan of fixed blades for general outdoor use, although I do prefer a slightly longer blade. I don't own either of these knifes, however, the Rat-3 is far more appealing to me. Cheers. Keep up the good work, it's most appreciated.
another outstanding review mate. both very good knives. i have to say that i think in the outdoor/survival category, size and price range esee hest fixed beats both hands down. just a tiny bit smaller but thicker and way more features. just my opinion tho. i would love to get rat3 to collection just to have it...
@gavkoo I hear the ESEE is better, but it is also more expensive. I think ESEE do some cool sheath options too. If you get one be sure to do a review :)
@AussieMark909 i have the hest and did the review. its hands down my most trusted and loved small fixed blade. and thats probably reason why i will never pull the trigger on the rat 3 even thou i would love to. its almost same knife but more expensive and thinner then hest. i think ontario is also outstanding company. i sure love my ontario kukri. would love to have many of their knives but they arent so cheap usually :(
Good stuff man!

Great video! Do think the Benchmade would be able to function and hold up as a bush knife? I live by the coast, so the stainless would be nice.
