It works better with a cooking bag but I used a black pot. The color is important as it absorbs more energy than a reflective color. If you don't have a cooking bag a box with the proper shape and a glass cover is just as effective.
I have been trying to tweek my homemade cookit (made with plans) to boil water. I have now found plans to make one similar to yours and hope to boil water to cook beans. The people we minister to in Mexico need ways to cook without using propane or a lot of fire wood. You don't even use a cooking bag...is that a benefit? Is a clear lid a benefit? What about the rack??
saacbe, see the URL in the comments section of this video for the website and the design. If you mean angle to the sun the answer is yes. You just move it around until you get the maximum focus on the pot. Basically, point it at the sun like a big radar dish.
I am very happy to see your video showing water boiling in the Fun-Panel Solar Cooker. Seeing is believing, and I can't think of a better way of showing the true effectiveness of this very simple solar cooker. Thank you. From Teong Tan - Inventor of the Fun-Panel Solar Cooker.
Important to note that I am at latitude 26 north and the sun is pretty strong. Still, the simple cooker, see the URL I included in the comments, is surprisingly effective. The pot with the water is pretty small and that helps boil the water more quickly. I am going to experiment with larger amounts of water. It gets increasingly difficult to boil water as the amount goes up.
@zaphraud It works in Arizona. There are a lot of solar cooker enthusiasts there that actually cook meals. I have seen videos from people in Canada who are able to use them. It is not so much the latitude as it is getting the focal point right on the pot by aiming the cooker at the sun.

I hate these sudo-musical-technical videos. For God's sake, just explain what's going on without the "music"!
