  • So, this is what Killer B tried to do... combining this oldies with his terrible rapping.

For those who don't know: In Naruto, there's a character "Killer B" or sth, who is a horrible, horrible, totally untalented rap singer, and to "improve" his rap, he actually tried to combine Enka singing with rap music.. quite the talent.

.... oh, and he sings Enka rap while fighting too.

  • im here.. tired of reading "im here" everywhere.

  • I knew I wouldn't be the only one who came here from naruto wondering what enka music is.

  • it makes the language sound sooo traditional... I speak Japanese and hear the music but enka makes japanese sound like chinese lol!!

It's not bad at all... I like how the kanji was spelled out, so even a newb like me could sing along XD

  • The first time i heard about enka is from DMC manga. Detroit Metal City. Didnt bother to probe further until somebody posted Jero - black enka singer and only then i realised that actually i am already familiar with enka tunes as my parents are singing some chinese songs that is actually originated from enkas

  • I came here from Hanasaku Iroha. Beautiful music. :)

  • shes beautiful o.o

  • Enka is awesome and so Japanese. They use traditional and modern instruments together. It will never betray you. Just listen to the music and the classic vocal style. I just love it and sing it every time I am in Japan.

  • Glad to see the younger generation get exposed to enka through Naruto, even though it's inadvertent... ^_^

  • Gosh I love this song too... Haha. It sounds so energetic and nice.

  • Somehow, this way of singing reminds me of Luffy in the God Enel arc... and as many others, i came here after Naruto, as i was wondering what enka was (Killer bee and his "master").

  • @FatBoyRagey LOL that's the first thing I thought when I saw this.

  • \o/ Enka is wonderful! I came here because of Naruto (Kin master) ^ _ ^!

  • @hanumardevil yeah, but what does enka have to do with rap?

    lol

  • @ninabigoloni haih... that kind of question please go ask kisimito masashi...

  • @hanumardevil it's kishimoto ;)

  • @ninabigoloni typing mistake....

  • @ninabigoloni Its cause naruto character (killer bee) mentions abt his desire to be enka musician..

  • @ninabigoloni

Isn't some of Jiraiya's theme played with Taiko and Shamisen? Also I think Bee-sama tries to learn enka from the guy with the racoon.

  • @ninabigoloni it's because of the Jinchuriki Killer Bee, the eight tails. He sings Enka, XD

  • @ninabigoloni Probably there is a song called oh enka, my enka. xD

  • @ninabigoloni Killer Bee sings enka in one of the Naruto episodes!

  • @ninabigoloni Killer Bee combines Enka with Rap.

  • @ninabigoloni

killer bee is a character in naruto who sings his own enka rap style

  • @ninabigoloni In Naruto there is one character connected to enka.

  • sounds like hindu singing lol

  • iNCREIBLE PERO CIERTO, UNA AMIGA MIA DE JAPON ME DIJO QUE PARA PODER CANTAR ENKA DEBES TENER AÑOS DE ENTRENAMIENTO FISICO Y MENTAL Y VOCAL. Y QUE LOS CANTANTES DEBEN SER ENSEÑADOS POR PROFESIONALES ENKA Y QUE LOS CONCIERTO SON SUPER CAROS!

  • @Georgiemayyc If you listen to more japanese "enka", korean "teuroteu/trot" and other neo-folk/country music from East and Southeast Asia and try to follow the song, you can pick up the way to sing easily without training. lol There are many videos on youtube if you search for those terms. You generally use your throat, chest and nasal passage to channel the sound. Good luck! :)

  • Do we know from which program was this vid? Isn't it O Edo De Gozaru お江戸でござる? I was a fan.

  • she sounds like shes using autotune.....but shes not......

  • @alkalinetrio96 Would be nice if music in America could sound like they use autotune when theyre not so it'd show that they have skills to sing at least.

  • @XOSiren18XO i know right? but i guess us americans aren't talented enough lol

  • @alkalinetrio96 lol I wonder if I'll make famous and rich by making a song that repeats the same word 4000 times just in a different tune. Ever heard of the song Yeah by Usher. You'll get what I mean.

  • @XOSiren18XO ya i know what you mean but good luck with that

  • @XOSiren18XO lolol so true

  • at least the kana and the pronunciation match.

in chinese opera, i can;t understand even if i read the lyrics.

  • Whilst wikipedia calls Enka "Speech Songs", It's more like that plus many vibratos in the long notes.

You don't have a lot of other western cultures in the world use long notes as this, they just speak it out or shout it shortly, then that's it.

Makes me wonder why I seem to like Japanese and such music more often, it could be something from Enka that Japan and Asia alike that uses it.

  • wow! i just discovered this type of music. simply awesome :) i love it!!!!!

  • What is she singing about?

  • @Starlingsoul This song is called Shinobu no Wataridori which means Shinobu's Migrating birds. Wataridori refers to the migrating birds technocly speaking about Yakuza or samurai who would travel a lot. Thus many Yakuza songs used the term Wataridori and Dochu both talking about traveling. Such as Harima no Wataridori, Tsuma Koi Dochu, Kimagure Dochu, Hanagasa Dochu, Tabigasa Dochu etc. I hope that helps.

  • I absolutely love this culture. So much better than American culture, and I'm an american saying this.

  • ahahaha this sounds like yodleing ahahah interensting !

  • @savannabananna101 A very Asian sounding yodel, almost indian like

  • Hai! enka best!!!

  • wow...so this is enka...i'm totally speechless...it's so awesome! yay! i thought it was "really" like the Katoken Samba OST of Gintama. ah, this sounds very traditional. i'm reminded of our tribal songs...very beautiful...very beautiful. my, i actually played it again and again. gunna play it again.

    ;D

  • Anyone else get here from Princess Princess?

  • @HelloprojectMaiden got the info, thanks :)

  • What is the original video? it looks like a story or a musical , could i get some more info on it? :) onegai

  • This is beautiful , 10/10 !! thanks for uploading

  • I love the way she sings the song.

  • Wow... very notable sino-korean influences, the major scale with a notably absent fourth and seventh scale degree... what was most striking to me was the remarkable audible resemblane of the singer's voice to a flute, including embellishments a whole-step down from the melody line, and a very over-the-top vibrato. To tell you the truth, I though I knew Enka because of a little Masako Mori and Tomio Umezawa... but in truth, Umezawa is just another onnagata, this is the real deal.

  • i'd like to see someone on american idol do this

  • @noaboa75 they would ruin it for sure.

  • enka is so cool~~~ i like how it go high...

  • enka rules.....

  • back to listen again. so beautiful song.

    from Thailand with love.

  • the song name is しのぶの渡り鳥, or Shinobu no Wataridori

  • Enka comes out of the 19th century & first became popular during the Meiji restoration. It started out as the music of rebellion against the established order.

My Japanese stepfather says modern enka is the equivalent of American country-western music.

  • well.. i love j pop and those stuff... but im kinda like this really :)

  • that plays music so mush lol

  • Many thanks, Yelou! :-D

  • 3:30 : Did he just say "Street Live"?

  • @redsohc Yes. "Sutoritto raibu"... it's funny how they're speaking everyday Japanese dressed in Edo Jidai garments.

  • This is like old school vietnamese music...I like it :)

  • it reminds me of the songs my grandma used listen to... it makes me happy and nostalgic at the same time

  • Just love it!!!

    this song "smells" like gashukku!!!

  • voice is craaazy man! good crazy though :D

  • reminds me of the songs i hear in small asian markets. i think it was a style that just spread and became very well likes throughout all of asian, because vietnamese has something similar, but there are a lot of pauses in music, solos, and "sing-talking" it's hard to describe.

  • 音羽しのぶotowa shinobu. しのぶの渡り鳥"shinobu no wataridri" is her debut song in Y2001. Wataridori is migratory bird, so a person who travel throughout the year is called wataridori. This song is a kind of matatabi-enka , such as Hikawa kiyoshi"s "Hakone hachiri no Hanjirou", Hashi yukio's "Itakogasa" , bit different ordinary enka. This program was "Oedo de gozaru" ,they act how people live in downtown of Edo during edo-era(y16xx-18xx).

  • じょうず じょうず !! You're awesome! Thanks for sharing the info!
