Are you saying that sardonically? :) Either way, it IS Zoe, aka Fran Brill. Amazing how many years she has been with SSt. Her unique voice has always worked well for it.
Since the beginning yes, that being 1969. I find it neat that there I was in the 70s being entertained by Ms. Brill & here way after 2000 my daughters are too!
I think I might remember this - does this go back to 1969 (or an early 70's year)? The background music sort of reminds me of a mystery show from the 1970's when the cop or detective was trying to find where the villain was and hunt him/her down. Again, just my opinion.
I remember Fran Brill did another counting segment. The numbers shifted over coloured light patterns (kind of like a magic lantern) while a little waltz played. I remember finding the combination little too precious, even for Sesame Street!
"The Nobel Prize in Mathematics has been awarded to a California professor who claims he has discovered a new number. The number is Bleen, which he says belongs between six and seven." --- George Carlin
"These are your numbers on drugs...any questions?" A classic like this deserves 1, 2...[insert weird visual here]...3, 4...[insert another here]...5 stars!
P.S. I'm pretty sure that another video existed with the same psychedelic numbers, except that the counting went up as usual. Could you or another fan confirm that, please?
Hmmmm, i wonder if Pink Floyd and Yes had a hand in making things for Sesame Street

No I was being serious. I figured it was the same person who does Zoe. Yeah I think she has been there since the beginning hasn't she?

Yeah that is really cool. Sesame Street has entertained generatios of children. I prefer the old clips to the new ones though.

Totally agree!

Those piano notes during the sudden slowed down intervals still creep me out, lol! Like something ominous is coming. So psychadelic

@HootsytheOwl And those spooky piano parts sound like someone has woken up from a bad dream at about 3 in the morning.

@SnowbirdFlock Think those were bells of some sort.
MIKECNW 4 months ago
Woner what was with the bells and short time lapses in between the numbers?
Still it makes it more interesting.

How thoughtful for all the parents watching who just wanted some clear liquid with their Ovaltine.

After that creapy music the girls says 7 and it just kind of gives me the chills. Weird. But I love old school sesamee street.

I must agree..I use 2 believe it was Velma from Scooby Doo narrating the count down too!(lol)

Jinkies! It sure sounds like her.

Notice how the lighter colors numbers seem to disappear when the darker colored one just become dim.
MIKECNW 4 years ago
There are two more like this. They go from one to ten and then from ten to one. Find them!

It's the odd bits stuck after 8 and 4 that stick with me. What was the point of them?
PandaMishima 4 years ago 3
That's the funny part! It doesn't mean anything but tha fact that the creator was on acid.
mstatz 4 years ago
Okay, but the Odd Bits were still cool.
PandaMishima 4 years ago
This reminds me of the Yellow Submarine movie when they sing When I'm 64 and they count from 1 to 64.

I can't believe that I'm not the only one who remembers this! Thanks.

they must have been on some drugs when they did this! :D

Yeah, but kids don't think in those terms. They just think it's cool, which is what I thought, as I vaguely remember this.

I remember this cartoon, love it! And yes that is Fran Brill.
