my netgear 5-port doesnt like my hp procurve 48 port switch... it stops responding every few days when its uplinked to it, finally got rid of it and ran a few more drops from the 48 port
I have a netgear switch that my dad gave me 100mbps 10 port pretty neat seeming my room was surviving on wireless makes me feel like a real geek with it XD we've been having huge problems with networking (sounds like you did too :P) went through 3 routers in a matter of a week from original G to G+ now at N and its perfect ;]
Nice video, the file server is a huge thing for us "geeks" lol. I also have a file server, but I am running Win Server 2003 with a hardware controller card running my RAID5 (4x400) = 1.09TB. I have the same switch (24port Netgear) and love it. You can check out my vid to see my setup.
Hey im just saying but if you did not change the cabling and you had cat 5 cable you are still going to get 100 MB/s so if you did not upgrade the cabling you will not see a diffrence... not sure if you upgraded it but im just saying.
just because cat5 is used mainly in 100baseTx doesn't mean that it is going to top out at that. i have a gigabit network and half of the machines on are on only cat5, my server is on cat5e and my main rig is on cat6. And every machine that is on the cat5 is capable of upwards of 100mb/s. i can transfer rates of up to 300mb/s so...

you can just un-block certain features by configuring Norton.

Yeah, if I said that I should have said FreeNAS is based on BSD. BSD is an operating system, not a language. So if I said "written in BSD" my bad.
Thaed 2 years ago
@Thaed People have to be so damn picky on youtube don't they? Some make an effin' career out of pointing out idiosyncrasies. Pretty silly, IMO.

mh.. "written in BSD"?
yeah, my friend, you may be are a "hardware-guy"..
(there are many other geek-levels as well - "metal-guy", "wood-guy" and "don't touch anything that could break-guy" for example)

I found out that some anti-virus programs like Norton had been blocking it. so try disabling your firewall.

BSD is basekly [spell] is the same as GNU/Linux, but it is true UNIX and GNU/Linux is not..
