Whats good man...quick question. Im an inspiring producer and was wonder what kinda akai do u recommend and programs as well. Basically what all do i need to start?
@lilkingruss all you need is a akai of any kind and a computer with internet. everything is practically free nowadays especially samples are endless online with many free directories to choose from your choices and the samples are limitless.
freesound(dot)org a good place to start for samples
This is great, You should record this to a program so even if you don't plan on selling it we can download it and listen to it anytime. You have some mad skills.
Yo, seriously dope vid ^_~ I've been watching MPC vids for like.....an hour ish and this is the best MPC vid I've seen so far. Please make/post more vids. I'd LOVE to see more vids.
this is cool! big up homie! People talkin ish on here are just haters hiding behind screen names! none of ya'll could do better anyway! Good track man keep it up!
Nice beat, very chill and mellow, I like those beats that just go on and you could listen to forever. And not many can freestyle like that. Finally, that is one nice piece of machinery.
pretty clever setup.. have the lasters on the top so u have a back beat eh? cool cool. its good hand workin. damn thats a big mpc! mines like the siz of my hand and has only 7 pads
Wow...you are just another person fixated on wanting to see "the best of the best." Of course this beat sounds monotonous...99% of hip-hop/trance/houce/acid is monotonous when you take away the lyrics. And by the way, Mr. Hater, this is a freestyle...and you're right he's not the best...whoopdy-effing-doo brainiac..lol just messin! Peace.
No way this is a freestyle, he just wants to prop himself up on dumb ass people who don't know how much practice it takes to get a track down on an mpc...He;s probably been practicing this for a couple of months...Peace
alot of the patterns he's playing are interchangable.. all the non drum sounds for example could be ANY sound and it would still be the same pattern. the sounds may be carefully chosen but most people who are good on drum pads could probably drop something this tight off the top of their head. i'm not necessarily defending him in regards to the legitimacy of this being a "freestyle", i'm just saying it's possible that this is
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Honestly, you have some great sounds; however, you are miss using it. If I was the one making that beat, I would have quit and started a new one ASAP! Anyway, keep trying though, good luck!
madd coordination on that thing....how long did it take you to learn that type of coordination....I've had my mpcxl for 5 years...still cant get to that level...how long do you practice a day??????
Now thas' talent man. Plus I kinda learned somethin new...never knew what an MPC was til now. Nice work. And for a sec, I coulda swore that I was seein things with green hands but I noticed you put that into effect. lol
After careful review I will confirm that that was indeed your work. I simulated your techchnique. It is possible and your timing was off.LOL....Good job.
I understand "playing" the mpc ut switching intruments and applying effects mid stream? It also sounds like you had more than one track going. Hey if you did it I have much Love and respct for you. Good job. Im not he MPC Police.
Wow. Amazing video. I hope I can learn a few things from this. It looks like some samples are layered like hat/snare on pad A01. hat/kick on pad A02. closed-hat/kick on A07. If that's the case, do you have a certain velocity that you prefer to split the layers on? right down the middle like 0-63, 64-127? hats as layer 1? Thanks for posting this!
thanks mate :) pad 1 = snare, 2 = bass drum one, 3 = bass drum two, 5 = snare (copy), 6 = crash, 7 = closed hihat, 8 = open hihat, 9 10 13 & 14 = music samples. no layering of samples for this freestyle. right index finger plays crash and closed hihat, right middle finger plays open hihat, right thumb plays bass drum one and bass drum two. left middle finger plays snare and music samples, index finger helps with snare and bass drum fills (hitting the pad so it "double hits" like a drum roll).
velocities are set such that bass drum and samples are fairly consistent with velocity, however, snare & hihats are very dependent on velocity to try and give it a more live feel. there is a very slight delay applied to hihats and snare. switching between banks for the different music samples (with the drum sample layout being consistent across each bank).
Very good to see MPC videos with diffrent styles. Not only hip hop :)
