in Tomb Raider 4 Lara appears to die at the end of the game. Chronicles is meant to be a collection of stories of Lara's past adventures that the mourners tell to each other on the night after the funeral.
That's probably because Toby Gaurd the, original creator of Tomb Raider, made the 1st, but left shortly after TR1.
CORE portrayed her as somthing Toby didn't want her to be! (She was his vision, and he wanted his vision to stay the way she was. CORE worked alone on 5 other titles! Now Toby works w/ Crystal Dynamics to make his vision worth while!) So anyway, this was not a Toby Gaurd Exclusive!

the tomb raider games rarely had good endings, but games like this were never about the end, they were about the journey and adventure
