This is brilliant. Plain and simple. This episode's serious tone, John's INCREDIBLE acting, and how they stayed pretty hush-hush about it afterward was able to convince many people that this might actually be real. It created a ton of hype and got people talking.

And, for those of us who realize it's just a very convincing act, it's absolutely hilarious, albeit in a rather shocking and disturbing way.

There's tons of reliable sources who experienced a wide range of things, from feeling uncomfortable in certain places, or with people, to full out seeing things. i know people who have seen the same things at different times without foreknowledge of it.

I haven't done an experiment to confirm the atomic theory either but I accept it on the sheer amount of evidence there is; this is not the case with spiritualist shysters who manage to slip through the net of scientific scrutiny every time they get called out on their lies. So how do you explain the experiences people have within the occult? I wouldn't recommend it, but there's a reason people get heavy into that. Whether or not you want to call it "God" or spiritual is fine, but to simply write it off because it's outside of your understanding or the North American masses would be what makes you closed minded. There's lots out there we don't understand yet. Just because people exploit it, doesn't mean there is nothing there either.

Fair enough, i was skeptical myself until it kept ending up in front of me. I still don't understand and hesitate to try to define it. But to say it's just acting seems to be a worse explanation, i don't think he's good enough to act that way. Maybe you could argue that it's more like hypnosis? something unconscious?

It could be. It's certainly worth scientific investigation but I doubt that would put a dent in the industry. What I am certain of, however, is that it isn't demonic possession. I find it abhorrent that victims of child abuse who evidently have serious psychological issues put their trust in this crap. What if it doesn't resolve their issues? Should they be consigned to a perpetual cycle of exorcisms until they're finally free?
