  • Wow. It had spectacular flavor, and I didn't even salt it on the plate! (I always taste first, and salt only if it "needs something") The fatty part of the bacon made for a rich broth that was purely wicked. I was proud that my potatoes didn't turn into soup (I watched it especially closely because you warned about that). The beer was the mystery ingredient that had everyone guessing. This is a good recipe and I will fix it again, especially in this cold weather. It's comfort food! Thank you!

  • @8journey8 Glad you liked it! Thanks for the kind comments.

  • I'm trying this today. I will get back to you on how everything turned out...

  • @8journey8 Make sure you season with salt and pepper before eating it.

  • I'd probably pan fry the bacon then add it later to the dish.

  • @PhoenixTekBC Then the bacon flavoring doesn't permeate the beans and potatoes...maybe a combo wold be the best situation.

  • soggy bacon.....really?

  • @kevinp860 Yep....REALLY. Ever had a ham hock?

  • I actually make this on every camping trip, but when i plate it up i drizzle olive oil on top with a squezze of lemon juice with thin slices of Parmessan cheese yummmoooo lol

  • I will have to try this. Looks good. Bet that would be good with roast beef.

  • Looks good, thanks. You should do more recipes that involve beer. MMMMM beer and BBQ!!!!!
