  • I love flying IFR. It is more challenging and fun that VFR.

  • @Slalan I beg to differ, VFR can be MUCH more challenging. So many days i wish I could just pop up and file a IFR flight plan.

  • why is the ad in spanish

  • hi guys , im looking for a pilot school in US if someone get helpme ? thank you guys

  • @brunodoriane Google.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm gonna try for my private pilot license this year....but listening to these guys on the radio makes me nervous....I don't always here it and often don't remember what was just said!

  • @bermudaguy1 Please, stay on the ground then if you're already nervous because of the ATC communications.

  • @headhunterke Why should he? I was nervous for a very long time, even after I started flying.

  • @bermudaguy1 Once you start flying yourself, you'll sit in the aircraft or helicopter with already some information. Like wind direction and speed, approach patterns etc. So you'll know what to listen for. It only gets interesting when ATC says something you DON'T already expect, which is about 10% of the time.

  • @bermudaguy1 "Do or not do. There is no try" --Yoda

  • I.F.R.: I Follow River. =P

  • does anyone know the diference between IFR and ILS??

  • @MustNotRead instrument flight rules----instrument landing system

  • The biggest problem I have with learning to fly is talking to the towers. It's so hard to understand what they say because everything is so fast and muffled all the time. I have no idea how people do it! It's very frustrating :/

  • @V1PER7964

listen to air traffic control videos on youtube. there are many things you can always expect because they are standardised

  • @V1PER7964 Haha you get used to it i guess

  • @V1PER7964 on a nice vfr day ..sit at the airport with a radio and listen for a few hrs...you;ll get it

  • ilove it nest time dc 3 pls

  • I personally don't like IFR, but I admit that is a safer way to fly... VFR still rocks anyway. :-)

  • @deimos2k6 whats wrong with ifr? its alot more relaxing

  • @deimos2k6 whats wrong with ifr? its alot more relaxing

  • @JasonSchwerin I agree.

  • Do they not check the controllers for clear diction?

    Mumble-mumble-garble-garble- clear word - mumble-mumble....

  • i like IFR ... ok im a simboy but soon (i hope) will be taking my lessons ;)

  • Some say it's the safest way to fly. Some say it takes the fun out of it. Others say its more fun. As a 600+ hour IFR pilot, I say it has it's place, but it is dangerous if you're not current. If you're not and you think you are, you're a fool to file.

  • @UnknownHackingDevice grades on you ??

  • Cool, I can't wait for 2013 because then I can start taking flying lessons! :D

  • You know what I don't understand? Why the hell do people still use windshield wipers when there is RainEx? It works great on a car and would work 10x better on a plane..

  • @Jutzujin when you are travels at high speeds and the propeller is blowing very strong wind directly there is no need for either of those!

  • hey, nice video!!! can u please subb back, cause i subbe to your channel!!!!!!!! :)) tnx

  • @1300ccbiker Cant make a living off a private licence so I don't see what you are bitching about.

  • @1300ccbiker Why did you quit?

  • @JesusAviation he didnt make it

  • Sporty's is a friendly aviation business and Rob Ryder is quite a good airshow announcer, but their training videos are boring and monotonous to the point of being capable of putting the most avid aviation enthusiast to sleep. Totally witless, humorless and dry!!!

  • @airste172 Well, I'll tell ya, I think Rob's a real nice guy but I sold my Sporty's set shortly after I got it in the mail. Good info but I kept falling asleep. Got the Kings set and stayed awake. John King will definitely keep you awake. Jokes may be corny but that's okay. I like corny.

  • @1300ccbiker if you wanted to fly for a living why didn't you complete your commercial licence?

  • 1300ccbiker---don't feel too bad, I suffered a torn retina at the age of 30, that ended my career in aviation. After all that money and time, nothing to show for it but a bunch of floaters in my eyes.

  • @1300ccbiker It's hard to get by in the industry during the beginning... expensive. Little financial aid.

  • @1300ccbiker Federal Aviation doesn't permit a PPL holder to take payment from flying or flying services. To make a living out of it you need a CPL. Keep working hard mate and work towards your CPL, once you have that get certified for multi engine aircraft and you won't have an issue get a seat. Don't get me wrong, not having a go, just some words of help from someone whom has been there :) Good luck man.

  • @1300ccbiker should of joined the military and got your ppl for free

  • GUYS 1300CCBIKER CLOSED HIS ACCOUNT. He can't reply, sadly. :'(

  • @1300ccbiker why what happened?

  • does anybody know anything about airport fees? can you just fly and land wherever you want for free? :))

  • @mustang19ms no you cant, some airports are free but other airports wants money..so if your making a flight plan be sure to ask them if you have to pay a fee

  • @1300ccbiker How much did it cost you back then ( the private pilot licence ) ?

  • I'd rather buy a plane ticket!

  • nice video... :)

  • wow! i've got a lot of learning to do before i could land there.

  • flying if f***ing easy!!!

  • wwwhwhhmmmhhhhwhhhhhwwhwhhhhmhh

  • IFR = I Follow Roads, I don't know what these other hippies are talking about. IFR is still fun even years after the kittyhawk flights.

  • 20 years after the kittihawk flight, some fag made flying un-fun. He called it 'IFR'.

  • @MaroonBugUK I agree 110%!!!

  • @MaroonBugUK True, but anytime you're flying, It is always fun

  • @MaroonBugUK Sorry, but I disagree. There is nothing quite like participating in the choreography that takes place in dense airspace around major cities. Try DCA if you ever get over here. But without that IFR ticket, you won't even be allowed in!

  • @MaroonBugUK

There are still a lot of places where you can fly VFR.

No need to hate on IFR....

  • @MaroonBugUK IFR is better than flying manually. You have contact with the tower on departure, cruise, descend, approach and landing.

  • @MaroonBugUK You must not have your IFR rating. I think every IFR pilot would agree that instrument flying is some of the most fun flying there is. What a feeling it is to descend through weather in a machine solely by reference to instruments and pop out of the clouds with a runway in sight! ...or fly on top of a blanket of clouds. ...and nobody ever said you can't keep flying VFR, right?

  • @MaroonBugUK IFR = I Follow Roads

  • @1300ccbiker how the fuck does that happen? omg that is suck big time!

  • Haha it's a flyer's ED video!

  • cant understand nothing from the ATC, how can i train myself to keep up and follow the radio instructions?

  • @jbitar flight simulator

  • @jbitar go to Liveatc.net helped me with comms when i fly

  • Quite thrilling to watch!

  • Quite to watch!

  • @J801506 Ironic, that's exactly what they said!

  • i want to be a commercial pilot when i grow up :)

  • @oscarfishlover01 I'm assuming you're meaning an airliner pilot or something like that. Just as a helpful fyi, commercial pilot means getting paid to fly. Normally it'll be your third rating you'll get (Private -> Instrument -> Commercial).

Good luck with your flying! :D it's a great job

  • 1:11 traffic just intersecting thru their flight path what ever

  • @SteveRon4 i know right wtf ... Thats what you call unsafe flying

  • lmy dads got dat aeroplane at 0:43 :) <3

  • Sporty's makes a ton selling these tapes and videos not flying. It's like selling the shovels for the gold rush of 1849!

  • wow can you kids actually get a thought or idea across without resorting to swear words? my god...

  • look no offence but my instructor carries suction cupped sink plugs on the windows of the plan.e If u so much as think of looking at instruments, he will give a plug a little lick and cover the instrument

  • now kids u know everything u need to know about how to fly a plane....right into the turf

  • thats the sane atc that was with captin sully the hudson pilot

  • @moose2121

Actually his rant was pretty funny, as it was intended to be

  • I.F.R.: I Follow Roads. :)

  • @kylemontanaro LOLOLOL!!!!!!!

  • @kylemontanaro That's what we say in the helicopter crowd.

  • Wow an old Apache. We used to call them "Fat Albert"...alot of drag and poor fuel consumption. Expensive duel in a twin engine.

  • yeah.....funny not! mayday is mayday u stupid asshole no fucking around up there! retards!

  • @moose2121 did your parents rape you

  • The pilot did not state the runway he was cleared to land, he only stated "cleared for the visual 22 behind the MD-80 and cleared to land", you just left yourself vulnerable to ATC if they made a mistake, they are teaching bad ediquette here..

Also he did not state his location to ground, he should have stated "vacated Runway 22 at Foxtrot"

And if you can't understand taxi instructions "Taxi straight ahead", then you did a piss poor job of planning prior to going into a busy airport like that.

  • @ramposer

"cleared for the visual 22 behind the MD-80 and cleared to land"

a visual approach implies landing on that runway. No circling on visual approaches.

  • @ramposer But they have to hurry if the taxi is waiting.

  • @ramposer Airport is crossing runways so he wouldn't get assigned for 22 visual and then to land on another rwy in normal conditions. There would have to be some emergency but even then he would probbly get a go-around. They day was perfect and he could maintain separation and just follow the MD-80. Also, ATIS information says which rwy is in use so you can already know before atc even tells you.

  • @BorisKnoT I understand that, but it's bad technique the way this pilot is demonstrating it. This is supposed to be an instruction video, and I think it was done with bad format in his choice of words. I understand they got the point across, but for an instruction video, I don't agree with it.

  • We just started this IFR training lol XD 5 hours of IFR needed

  • The ATC guy @ 2:22 sounds like the spokesman for Good Times Burgers

  • Thumbs up to the pilot crossing at 100ft on approach! LMAO 1:13

  • wowowowowoow young eagles much?

  • Who would fly a cessna over New York City? Risky business boys!

  • @TheRandification

it's only laguardia to be fair. And it was a piper twin which is perfectly fine for flying there...

  • Great video.

Now where is NASA's "highway in the sky"??? LOL

  • if you wat to be a pilot play first flight simulator 2004/X

  • Yeah, I am not sure about him requesting progressive taxi. Kind of pointless.

  • Great vid, just done my second solo xcountry and resorted to plain speech when in comms with ground, felt like I had failed a bit but glad to see it here when at an unfamiliar airport. I didn't understand half of what was said on approach to LGA though!! :-)

  • GROUND: "....2SP TAXI STRAIGHT AHEAD TO SHELTAIR"

PILOT: ..."GROUND 2SP IS UNFAMILIAR, REQUEST PROGRESSIVE TAXI...."

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

"Straight ahead" is about as progressive as you can get. Did the pilot request that for the video purpose or did he not understand what straight ahead meant?

  • wow, that was runway 22 approach into LGA! Flew over that tower many times...

  • I LOVE this video. It's always cool to listen to ATC at a busy airport like LGA. Thanks for posting this.

  • I just got my ppl. I trained in Class B airspace, but Laguardia seems pretty intimidating.

  • what type of airplane is this??

  • @bronco8585 it's a Piper Aztec

  • @bronco8585 Piper Aztec

  • @Buckleypm ??? and u'd be in a regional...if u wanna get paid about 19k a year starting salary be my guest. thats before taxes. wat do u mean troll?

  • I get ATC now: pilots & controllers engage in trash talk by spewing out numbers & names like Charlie, Mike, Victor etc.A pilot might shout "Papa Mike 471 hold short cleared Romeo Charlie".Not to be outdone, the controller will retort "Delta 471 (yo mama is) heavy, Foxtrot 337 knots".This goes on until the pilot says something so insulting that the controller relents & lets him land.If your pilot is no good at trash talk your plane remains in the holding pattern until your pilot cries 'Mayday'.

  • @drav1dan hahaha... Your comment made my day.

I will add you as a friend for this.

  • @drav1dan Funny shit!

  • @drav1dan hahaha awesome dude

  • @drav1dan Drugs are not the answer son.

  • @YotaLizard LOL! LMAO!

  • @drav1dan I don't fly turbines and in Australia they never take VFR charter seriously but I always find "I have a slight fuel concern" easier on the paperwork for both me and the (rare) ATC I talk to over declaring a fuel emergency in a 206! "Alpha Bravo Charlie, join (L or R) base cleared to land". Thanks champ!

  • @drav1dan 337 knots? Are you kidding me? The whole earth will shift because of these sort of wind

  • @drav1dan thats awesome!

  • @Buckleypm u wont be in an airliner after 15 months of training like that. dream on.

  • colonialVU is right. People think just because UAVs are advanced technology that they will somehow work miracles for us. A plastic propellor plane with a couple of bottle rockets attached to it can never replace a tactical fighter jet. Also a computer can't replace human pilot with human instincts in a combat situation. Everybody thinks that UAVs are the future of warfare, but they truly are not practical for actual combat.

  • I love my dinky old C152

  • flying is scary

  • @moose2121 hahahahahaha

  • i want a job driving the van!

  • The US is just continuing to pussify itself. "What do you wanna be when you grow up little Timmy?" "I wanna be an unmanned aircraft armchair pilot sitting in front of a monitor monitoring it for 8 hours a day in the safety of my little air conditioned room.". A nation of playing it safe pussies is what this country is becoming, "want to experience the miracle of flight?" "no I just wanna be a little pussy and sit in front of a screen and contol that thing from here.".

  • @coloniaIVU Listen you little sack of shit, I served in the SEAL teams in Iraq and the drones are a sight for sore eyes. Those drones are made to keep people on your side alive. When you are out and surrounded by people that want to kill you and you see that drone come in, its the best sight in the world. You should be kissing the asses of the drone pilots because they work to keep you safe. So next time, just shut the fuck up and never talk about the US like that again.

  • @Cheddar1101 AWWWWWWWW! I'm sowwy I offended yur wittle pussy. Oh wait. I forgot you're from the pussified US so I'm not sorry.

    Pussy.

  • @coloniaIVU And where are you from dick face? One of the countries that no one hears about and they think they are the best?

  • @Cheddar1101

You suck and so does the USA.

You should never brag about being scammed into the navy. They promise a lot and you get screwed. Your bean will never be the same. YOur comment is proof.

  • @AugustusLarch And what country are you from?

  • @danielep69

I am from the USA and very ashamed of my government. Any rational person that isn't hypnotized would feel the same. It's a dark history when one looks at it objectivly.

  • @AugustusLarch

What the fuck does that have to do with landing an Apache at La Guardia?

    Or anything?

Yeah...I am still pissed off at Pres. U.S. Grant for his treatment of the Indians but I don't see what that has to do with a Flight Instruction video.

  • @hammerogod

I do not remember how this started. I was inspired to rant somehow. I hate how people promote the USA when the government has been noting but evil for many years. Decimate the natives. Become a colonial power just like they broke away from. Force the Chineese to buy opium. Finance the Nazis. Fight the Nazis. Trump up wars. Fleece the currency. Start a prison industry in the land of the free. The black marks are endless.

Oh yeah this is an acceptable landing.

  • @AugustusLarch

I understand the concept of random ranting.

2 thumbs up for getting it out of your system.

  • @coloniaIVU Theres a difference between saving lives and chickening out retard.

  • go to aviatorsden [dot] com

  • go to

  • @747johnz - This guy filming was possibly a pro, but ttower communications like tis are very common in congested airspace. I fly in the LA Basin out of KLGB. I have also flown in Honolulu. I have had to land behing big iron more than once in a C-172 as well as listen and decipher all of the chatter like in this video. It all comes with time. I only have about 120 hrs and am currently working on my IFR rating, so I am no pro.

  • There's no way John Travolta does this! (Vinny Babarino!)...lol

  • thank god for the red van!!

  • Jesus Christmas can't they just say" I'm here show me where to land this thing?"..all the friggen numerical lingo would make me never want to fly again!

  • HEY STUDENTS, I CAN RIP YOU OFF FOR HALF THE COST OF SPORTYS!

IF YOU WAN TO LEARN TO FLY, GO TO A DECENT SCHOOL - IF YOU WANT TO GET RIP OFF, GIVE MONEY TO SPORTYS, OR ME!

  • I had to play back the video around a dozen times trying to decipher what the hell the tower is saying... this guy was a pros... certainly not IFR student being tested on an IFR flight...

  • Im just a sim pilot, but im not sure Id take a spot behind a MD-80 in that aircraft, seems dangerous!

  • @lowew79 Only if you don't know how to handle wake turbulence...

  • @sssmmmvvv

like i said, not a RL pilot, so I don't know much, maybe the jet is farther away than it looks..

  • @lowew79 Well it's definitely not fun being in close proximity to a large jet aircraft when you're in a small single engine aircraft.

  • Must see for student pilots??? Really? This video is nothing but advertisement for their school. I am sick of schools that only want to misinform students and trick them into buying and buying more unneeded crap.

Sporty's is an overpriced, nickel-and-dime you, school. The smart pilot is aware of these type of schools, and stay away from them! They only care about scaring you into giving them your money!

  • @cesario7777 I agree. Hey, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is a great school to get your training from. They may be very expensive, but you won't regret it. PM and we will talk more. I am 14 and am already taking flight lessons. Next lesson will be on the 17th of August. (I will be practicing taxiing, and then I will take off and maintain 2000ft with a Cessna 152.

  • 2:37 ?????? wth? thats crazy! i wouldnt be able to respond to that!

  • Pilot Language is spectacular!!

  • Great video! thank you.

  • Awesome job and great vid, very informative.

  • Sportys is great because they provide great information and great footage.

  • I just got my IFR 2 days ago. Flying into Laguardia and new york airspace in general looks scary as heck. You certainly need to be prepared, more so than on a regular IFR flight.

  • Comment removed

  • I have flown the piper aztec

  • If the runway HDG for 22 is: 224 magnetic, 212 true and the Wind is 290-300 @ 10

he should be pushing the aircraft back and to the left?

  • this is a nice video. Gives the viewer a small glimpse of what is to come with operating into a busy airport.

  • Flying, the greatest feeling in the world:P I'm starting my VFR next summer at Dorval Aviation :D

  • @HHan13 Tell that to all of the geeks who want to be armchair video game pilots here in the US Air Force, and all of the stupid aerospace companies who tout unmanned aviation as the greatest thing to happen to aviation since the Wright Flyer. I read an article the other day about all of these flight officer dweebs coming out of the academy who are enthusiastically wanting to fly drones instead of real aircraft!? Hopefully GA and the airlines never let unmanned aviation see the light of day.

  • The controller at 1:45 is the same that was on duty when that airplane landed on the Hudson! Or at least his voice looks like the same.

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we enjoy to hear the high pitch noise of jet engines?

    (2) Why do we love commercial flying?

    (3) Why do many of us want to be pilot?

    (4) What is the reason behind that less females want to be pilot than males?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • @applesweeter the engine noise calms me for some reason =) i don't have my commercial =(

i want to be a pilot for the adventure and the joy of being away and in the sky and when your in the plane your the boss=)

    i don't know the last question =)

  • I enjoy the sound of a sweet running engine cause it is more relaxing then a rough running one (for obvious reasons).

I love my job even if it is just dicking around in C206s doing charter runs but the romance will wear off.

Third question I have been wondering ever since being in debt after finishing my CPL and earning shit all for a lot of work in the middle of no where!

Same reason more chicks want to become nurses or flight attendants I guess.

    <
