There is a wee bit of a continuity issue with this episode. In one of the scene the daleks are clearly shown moving around freely outside, however in the first dalek story "The Daleks" or "The Mutants" one of the main features of the plot is that they cannot leave the confines of their citys and travel into the wastes of skaro because they will die without the citys power supplies. So how the hell can they go outside if this episode show the very first dalkes ?

@Rubberpencilman : I think I read somewhere that those Daleks were a "Mark 1" model, hence the fact that the casings seen in this serial are known as "Mark 3".

I remember as a child watching "Remembrance of the Daleks" being equally fascinated and terrified by them. McCoy will always be my favourite Doctor, but Baker runs a close second. Sigh. I'm unemployed right now, so it's the perfect time to watch old episodes... unfortunately being unemployed also means no money so I can't afford to buy them :( Catch 22.

True true and if you think it about this way, Davros is a genius. Therefore, if the Cult of Skaro can have an Emergency Temporal Shift... then why not The Creater himself? I don't believe for a moment, that Davros didn't attempt to add a contingency plan, should The Doctor stop his plans (Which is, of course, what happened.)

Too right, everytime we've seen the Daleks in the new series as a mass army they're always beaten. The glory of the old Doctor Who stories is most times doctor was dealing with one battalion of daleks, not the entire race, you knew they would return somewhere down the line.

Plus I hope to God they haven't permanently killed Davros off, he is as much an iconic villain as the daleks themselves.

If you notice though, pretty much every time Davros is in Doctor Who, they kill him off... Yet he keeps coming back. I shouldn't worry, Davros will be back in some shape or form in the future, of that I am certain.

Davros was only killed once, in Genesis. He's captured at the end of Destiny, his fate is unclear at the end of Resurrection, captured at the end of Revelation and clearly seen escaping from the mothership before it explodes at the end of Remebrance. To be fair, he's not shown dead at the end of Journey's End, either. I'm sure he had an escape pod tucked away somewhere.

Amazing, but I would have kept it even more secret till the last second. Sort of have it when it goes 'Extermination' cut to the Dalek gun scene then edit it so more battle scenes and cut 'A Dalek' out of the doctor's speech. Then at the end show the Dalek from the speech 'This is only the beginning' And have it going Exterminate. XD but that's just my opinion XD

Good ideas but I didn't want the daleks to say anything - keeps them more menacing and puts greater focus on Davros, who is the greater surprise of the story as everybody knows the daleks will be in it. Was tempted to put the "we would like you to return to Skaro" speech after the reveal but I thought it best to build up the anticipation having already dropped hints. I'd imagine the "this is only the beginning" could be used in another teaser to coincide with the next time.
