Don't like the singer. (It's his character, not his music, that I dislike.) But I do like this song. Very cleverly written, the way the lines overlap each other.
@looking4ferdy Well, first of all, I don't think people who drive drunk and fight with cops, which prompted that mug shot, are particularly upstanding citizens. When he and Tanya Tucker were together, he beat her up. Years later he's talking self-righteously in a television interview about how he prays for her lost soul--and that was directly before the drunk driving. Yeah, some room he has to be talking about Tanya, especially after the way he treated her.
@cruztacean He did have issues with alcohol as well as other demons particularly during the 70's that you hear so often with popular artists....I can only read about these, as I'm too young to remember things at the time. But what I do know is that, when people for whatever reason, go through these tough times, we just don't know what goes on in their heads. not everything is black and white. Tanya Tucker, also had her own Demons, including drink and drug problems.
A truly beautiful song written for Glen Campbell by that master of song writers Jimmy Webb who has written so many great songs including Wichita Lineman and By the time I get to Phoneix, but Honey Come Back is one of my all time favorites and Glen Campbell's performance is just great,I think Honey Come Back is an example of true song writing brilliance. Thanks for posting it.5 Stars from me.
My wife asked me to stop singing this song to her...on the phone...at 3am...after killing a 30-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon...via the Restraining Order the officers delivered to my house...at 7am.
Remember this as a little girl, and just love it. Gives me goosebumps listening to it again. Very sad that Glen Campbell has just been diagnoised with Alzheimers. Sending loads of loving healing as I am sure Elvis is Glen x
takes me back 30years when my dad played all his old records on a sunday afternoon...made me cry then when i was ten still to this day it makes me cry
this takes me back to them sunday afternoons when i was a little girl when my dad used to play all his records, from elvis, buddy holly, billy fury and his glenn campbells, johnny cash he had em all......still 30years on it still makes me cry
this is the first song i heard my late mother-n law sing and it me cry when she sang it because it was my father-n law favorat song when he pass a way rip mom and pop
The woman in the video was his wife at the time, Billie. She was a hairdresser and the mother of several of his children. Sadly, she passed away quite a few years ago.
my Mom hear it end of the 70´s she had it from her friend Vic a soldier (Afcent) he was based in Ruppertsweiler Germany one of the best songs ever sometimes i hear it when i´m unhappy ...
This song is just as I feel toward my God given gift of a wife, Jennifer McRoy Mayberry, who is a cousin to Glen Cambell. I love her with all my heart soul and mind. She is my bread when I hungar, my water when I thirst, the air I breath, God Bless her, I love her and want to hold her in my arms and say how sorry I am for not giving her more than I did.
my best friend`s wife left him not to long a go so went to see him sat night he put this song on .and he cry like a baby .he is a big man with a hard job . she left him because he cant give her any children but he still loves her and wants her back life is just not fair
yeah it was back in the days when people used to express their true feelings and didnt have to look like bimbos and sound like robots to get played on the radio
Love Glen Campbell's music especially this song... grew up having to listen to music my grandma approved of. Hope to see his concert here in Nov' 09...Auckland NZ (... late b'day present for myself)
My wife used to ask me to sing this. I guess she liked it and i did not have the recording. wish i could sing it like Glenn. Wish i could sing it to my wife again.
Wow, had not heard this in years. This song tore my heart out in early 70's when my wife of 2 years ran of with another man. I thought I would die and this song was all over my 8 track. It was so pretty but it just killed me to hear it.. Finally found a 19 year old beauty who helped me get over it.
@larrydh2 : This very song was like a smallpox injection which accelerated my 'fever' but eventually and actually cured it. We have to say thank Q to Glen for the song. I thought You might have felt he same way as I had.
Wonderful video! Glen was at the top of his game in those days & it's lovely to see his second wife, Billie. This was during their good days. So glad he's pulled his life together and is still going strong almost 40 years later.
OMG,....I cant believe i'm listening to this song!!!! I was 8 years old when this song was playing on the radio. My best friend and I used to pretend we were "singers" on a variety show and this was one of the songs we "covered." hahaha where does the time go?
I know what you mean, when I was a kid growing up in Ireland my grandparents had this big old gramaphone beautiful piece of furniture with the old valve system and the sound reproduction was so mellow I grew up on Glen and all the Americian artists thank god for the stars and stripes and the Green White and Gold.
Thanks, I finally put it behind me. Still love this song tho. I had to learn that the pain that goes with losing someone you cherish means you at least had them at some point and that is good. You have to have really loved to feel the pain of losing. if it doesn't hurt to lose someone, it means it was not love to begin with.
AMAZING! What a lyric... the music of our lives, our hearts. Wherever you stay Glen, got a friend, this friend with broken heart sayin thanks for the music.
I first heard this song in the 70's. It was sung beautifully by Johnny Mathis, my hero. I really love Glen's version of it too. It's such a great song.
I was only 16 when this song was #1 hit. It used to make me sad listening this song on the radio. Still love this sone and get that beautiful feeling of sadness!!LOVE IT!!

Dear jacqui4elvis, I read yr comment. Do you know, Glen Campbell, reminded me of Elvis. There is something deep and simple, pure and untouched in his person and his songs. Just like Elvis. Like young gods! Charismatic, so everything!
Honey Come Back is one of my very special songs of growing up, listening to it over the radio, in India.
