Entitlement programs are called that because they are earned. They are earned by paying your earned money into them. Social Security and Medicare are only two of the entitlement programs. I have paid into these programs for almost thirty years. This is why I will have an income when I am old and why I will have some medical coverage when I am old. Once you pay into something and have earned your return on your investment is what free market is all about.

@guitman58 FYI, this festival began in 1985 with 2 small seed grants from the N.E.A and has since grown into an event that strongly boosts the local economy every Jan. The $45,000 it may lose from the N.E.A now only accounts for 3% of the festivals budget and it would surely survive without it But may never have been possible without the initial seed grants fom the N.E.A. Funny how a little money can go a long way in preserving American culture and boosting local economies in the long run.
