perfect room, but I still prefere to get closer to a 65" tv with the best image and refresh rate you can get ;p of course, with a 65" screen, you can have like 6 chairs max on your home theater, anyways, is a HOME theater, not a home cinema like this one ;p
Great setup/presentation. Where's the equipment list? And "THE ULTIMATE" home cinema uses a 12.12 Channel Snell THX reference system, Sony 4KHD projection and is located in redding!
Its sad that people believe to have a quality home theater you need to spend 100's of thousands of dollars/euros but in a properly designed room you can just buy something respectable and have it sound better than anything else in a poorly designed room.
A true cinema doesnt have a SWEAT SPOT! Through the use of controlled reflections with sound isolation and proper speaker placement and implementing spacial averaging every seat positioned properly can be its own sweat spot....
A lot of people came together for what I would consider to be an average acoustical room with expensive gear. Where is the sound isolation? Who was the genius that decided on double glass doors in the rear of the room? Nice panels on the ceiling that aren't even at the mirror reflection points. Should I waste time pointing out more?
my biggest request to maanfactures at the moment is start making switches and buttons softer and less stiff so less force is required to move them. on all consumer electronics they seem to be made overly stiff for safety. i hate stiff connectors and stiff buttons that push into the bones on my finger tips.
Hi Justin, the projector is DLP not LCD so loss of blacks isn't really an issue. With regards to speaker positioning I would suggest that the guys from Procella (Gerban and Anders) have specified this correctly, they have over 300 THX certified cinema's under their belts so I'd say the speaker locations are pretty spot on, it's one of those cinema's that really has to be heard to be believed.
Fantastic. But the speaker should be head level centre of speaker to ear. there half way up the walls, and not direct enough for me. the idea is to have a sweet spot to sit. only the effect speakers need to be high. plus the floor is Tiber should of been more solid. the subs would be felt and rumble better. I all so use a chocolate colour screen. because LCD projectors lose the blacks. by darkening the sceen you can white balance the image. and blacks become blacker.
Absolutely incredible! Id love a Art deco inspired theatre. The opening of the curtains is such a dramatic statement and I dearly miss it from the cinema experience of modern cinemas today.
We have dedicated umbrellas to suit guests clothing . That solves the rain problem !!
Drinks and popcorn are served by a lady standing on the side of the auditorium at the start of the picture. We still have a supply of original "Kia-Ora" orange drink.
The cinema could not be built beside the house . Its better at the end of the garden . I can play the sound levels correctly without annoying the people next door
This is really nice but how many people can afford this!! Dbox chairs are 6k US dollar a pc! The dbox by itself is 5k alone! Lets be honest, although this is a dream setup, it is not affordable for the average consumer.
@macklr21 Affordable for the average Joe and High-End do not go as one. A High-End HT in the 200K range is not even on the expensive side! A High-End HT can cost more than a quality home.
I have invested over 60K on the subwoofer section alone. 80Hz down to near DC over 60K. This will NEVER be affordable to the average Joe. The only thing affordable are HTIB (read POS) systems.
Nice well done room... I build rooms like this everyday and this one has got all the right elements. Pretty classical look though, nothing outstanding in terms of interiors.
Probably a big deal in Europe, but in the US and India we have a lot of these home cinema rooms coming up.
Interesting, although I'd like to know what you're using as a source - Blu-Ray? I'd guess DVD is too low a quality? Also, is the projector 720 or 1080?
I'm buying a new house soon and am planning my own cinema room (not as good as this one!), so I'm researching projectors and stuff...
The cinema took 2 years to complete . This was due to the import of the cabin I went round and listened a a range of equipment before making a choice. spend as much as you can afford on gear Its costly to upgrade . go for the best . Trust you ears . Listen to the mid range that a speaker delivers . Dont spend too much on any one product . Dont have a massive sub with speakers which cannot compete with the sub . 40 years and am still learning . regards david

But in my opinion the home cinema should feature a curved widescreen to get the title "ultimate" ;-)

The design was inspired from my days as a projectionist at my village cinema . The red curtains and red carpet all remind me of those days
Kind regards

@macklr21
It is not meant to be affordable for the average Joe. And this setup is a budget one compared with some no holds barred extravagant home theaters.
The subs they use are twinky little dinky subs.
I have 60K in sub alone in a small room, two channel music listening.
The beauty of it you can start with only $2000 and assemble a quality two channel system,or 10K and start a very competent HT.
No need to spend heavy money to get a satisfactory result.

well if they invested in a good system they would go beyond 1080p i would think they would use a 2560p projector
