  • Fantastic!!

  • love this even though i'm 17...i love when he says showoff..lol..<3 grover

  • LOL!!!!! Love this.

  • Sooooo this is why Madeline turned down Gonzo's wedding proposal on the Muppet Show! ~Rest In Peace Madeline Kahn~

  • this epitomizes my childhood to a tee. i almost teared up. ss really had so good songs!

  • RIP Madeline Kahn :(

  • "You've got to be putting me on!" XD

  • A wonderful song with Grover and Madeline

    KKHHHHAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!

(for the few of you who don't get it, it's a Star Trek reference)

  • So Beautiful (sexy, too) and funny. I'll miss Madeline Kahn! She's so funny, I admit I'd forgotten how wonderful a singer she was.

  • loved her. Madeline comedic timing was second to none! underated legend!

  • My all time favorite Sesame Street clip! This was created when I was in college...and years later became a favorite to sing with my son when he was toddler. Thanks for the memory!

  • show off :)

  • this is so precious. i love it :)

  • 2.57 what is Grover doin' there... ? :O omg!

  • OH MY GOD!!!! I never realized what a RANGE Madeline had! I knew she had the lyrical soprano, but not a low E natural! Holy crap! She's more amazing than she was five minutes ago.

  • I'm surprised Gonzo didn't get JEALOUS when Madeline Kahn was singing with Grover!

  • my son loves this! such a classic!

  • This is a more convincing interaction than if it had been two human beings! Madeleine was amazing and her gifts will never be forgotten!

  • Sigh - lucky Grover, such a playa, who knew!

  • does she actually call him "groper"? I love it!! hahaha

  • maybe that's proof that God does exist...he missed her so much :)

  • Grover-"Show off." lol

  • OMGGG....I remember this like it was yesterday!!! & I am 30 years old!!!

  • When I arrive in heaven I will buy a ticket to see one of her concerts. To me she IS proof that God exists and gives us a taste of all of the fun and great things ;he has in store for us. I can NOT wait. Every once in a while he gives us a little teaser that makes us fly right and remind us why we need to be good to one another and appreciate the beauty and wonder, she is that reminder, for me. I am glad you You Tube exists.

  • I love her. I hope when I get to heaven that they sell tickets to one of her concerts. Then I would know I was in heaven........Kristen Chenoworth is the closest thing we have to this.

  • This is so cute... RIP Madeline :(

  • Oh man...did anybody think the same thing when she sang "Die, die, die!" So ashamed.

Loved this as a kid and still do today.

  • Anyone else feel young again?

  • Frank Oz is a blessed man.

  • LOL from 2:01 to 2:09

  • I just went right back to my childhhood :)

  • LOL @ 3:13 "You got to be putting me on!"

  • Wasn't she on Young Frankenstein?

  • show off. lol

  • Do we know what year this is from? Because I'm pretty sure I watched this very sketch growing up in the 80s.

  • She was the best, period.

  • Grover likes everyone. Why cant everyone be nice like my friend Grover?

  • i used to have a movie with this one

  • I LOVE GROVER!!!!

  • I just finished watching this segment on the Sesame Street DVD "Sing Along." So sad she died. Thought I might go to youtube and find some people who cared

  • sing die die dieeeeeee lol awsome stuff

  • Madeline Kahn is a timeless beauty. I remember being little bitty, and my family being too poor to afford TV service, but dad would buy me Sesame Street VHS', and he'd watch them with me on our old black and white TV that looked like a microwave because of all the knobs and whatnot on the front, and every five minutes or so the screen would just switch to static, and I had to bang on the top of it to get the picture to come back on. Back when life really sucked, but i was too young to know it.

  • her voice is so beautiful! she studied to be an opera singer...

  • This was an awesome video. That type of talent, humor, and beauty. Madeline Kahn was and always be one of a kind. Now, I have to go watch History of the World or Blazing Saddles.

  • beautiful and talented a damn shame.

  • She so hot

  • RIP Madeline

  • absolutely

  • Good god I miss Madeline Kahn so much! What a great comedian and wonderful actress... proof that god does not exist , Madeline Kahn taken away from us at such a young age. So beautiful to have these bits of her great work to keep her memory alive. Miss you, Madeline!

  • I disagree with your comments for a few reasons. First of all, God does exist. And He is also gracious. Because while it may suck that Madeline Kahn passed away, how much would it suck if she was never here in the first place.

  • I would say she is proof that God does indeed exist; it is HE who gave her to us!

  • @Varlet09 I agree so much! I was so sad when she died, even though I was kind of young, and only really knew her from Cosby and Clue. Then Blazing Saddles and all of her Mel Brooks movies. And she's such an amazing singer. And just the funniest.

  • @Varlet09 gotta disagree... heaven mustve needed a bit more laughs,

  • @Varlet09 God exists and know that she joins the choir of angels. Won't it be awsome to hear her in eternity. Her beauty is but a glimpse of what our God has in store .

  • @Varlet09 So because people die, God doesn't exist? Uh, ok.

  • You could also agrue that there has to be a God for us to have been given Madeleine and her gifts for any amount of time!

  • @Varlet09 how old was she when she died

  • Madeline Kahn was one class act.

  • I love the end, "I think I just wet myself." LOL

  • @sunnysusan12 It's "I think I HURT myself."

  • Actually its "I think I *hurt* myself".... but I like your version better! :)

  • He said "I think I just HURT myself."

  • He says "I think I HURT myself."

  • @sunnysusan12 You perv, he said "I think I just HURT myself"; goofball, lol

  • @sunnysusan12 Actually Grover said "I think I just hurt myself."

  • I remember watching this. I was like 'Holy crap. I'm Madeline Khan's echo' I was like 8 or something. XD

  • She has such a pretty mouth.

  • Fabulous!! Don't make them like this anymore!!

  • I wonder how old Maddie is now?

  • HAHAHA FIDEL DIDDLE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

    lol

  • I just saw the lame remake with Elmo & Ernie a few minutes ago on TV, then I remember this original with Grover back in the 80's (or was this in the 70's) & Madeline Kahn (but I thought she was Karen Carpenter when I remembered LOL) and I said to myself, "lame the original was better!".

  • she's a much better singer than she reveals in blazing saddles

  • Frank Oz a genius too.

  • It's almost as if Madeleine would have cemented a far greater reputation as an entertainer if she had chosen to go entirely with her God-given set of pipes instead of becoming a comic actress.

  • LOL Hahahahha ha haaaaaa. That's my boy, er, monster, esp. at the end. Hahahahaha. Grover's the Ace!!! Hahahahah ha ha.

  • lol "sing.. af.... ter......... MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! *panting, panting* "i think i hurt myself" "you were great, it'll go away" "thank you"

  • sounds like yoda

  • It's wonderful! What's the year?

  • She is the best.

  • Madeline Kahn is GREAT! Loved her in Clue!!!

  • WHAT A WOMAN!

  • Grover's such a pimp!

  • This made me smile in all the right ways. Thanks so much for uploading.

  • Yeah, my boy Grover flirting with my lady Madeline. She was so lovely and talented.

  • Thank You from the bottom of my heart for posting this! You have no idea how amazed I am to find this. I didn't realize how influential this was on my childhood. I am stunned right now. Wow.

  • There can only be one Madeline Kahn and one Grover. Together, they made some musical magic.

    "It's twue, it's twue!" ;-)

  • @TelephoneRock4ever

    You're sucking on my elbow.

(if you don't get it, or the comment I'm replying to, go and watch Blazing Saddles).

  • @TelephoneRock4ever sooooooooooooo true..=D..love to watch this even though i'm 17..i love when he says showoff..lol <3

  • They're always coming and going and going and coming, and always too soon!

Lucky puppeteer with his hand on kahn's theigh

  • Frank Oz, still Grover (plus Cookie Monster) and a great comedy film director (goog him)

  • uhh huh

  • Madeline Kahn is, was and always will be the shiz. Thanks for posting this.

  • Gorgeous voice!

  • She does have a gorgeous voice.

  • what a great singer!-very pretty as well!

  • Oh my goshhhh! I TOTALLY forgot about this! I'm so excited that I found this!!

  • Madeline was uniquely brilliant! Grover must have loved her really... What a great clip!

  • Madeline Kahn wow! what an absolutely wonderful woman...

  • Classic Sesame Street, the best!

  • yeoldecreaturesshop,

HA! the early muppets were so crudely designed by jim henson that the little kids both on sesame street set and out there in tvland were scared plenty. happily, the shows producer or whomever had a REAL puppeteer redo the muppets so they could be presentable

  • I love grover and I loved this short so much when I was little. ^_^

  • Thanks for this. She was wonderful!

  • I remember watching this when I was little. Wow, things back memories. I didn't realize that was Madeline Kahn until just now! She had a fantastic voice and orrekorre is right. She does look like Reese Witherspoon which means she could play Kahn if they ever did a movie about her. Grover rules too.

  • i wanna fuck that bitch

  • She's just bitch, huh? And I suppose nothing more huh? Well, that's pretty raw.

  • I have seen her in some movies and stuff but what has ever happen to her? anyone know?

  • she died back in 99 dude..

  • they r almost makin out

  • She rocks in Young Frankenstein!

  • She was and forever will be one of the greatest :)

  • @bballinmc85

Madeline Kahn. Who was she? I haven't heard of her till now. By the way she was singing with aplomb by the Grovster, it sounded like a little training had come her way. What she a Juliard alumna or something?

  • Madeline Kahn died?? how did I miss that

  • I remember seeing this as a kid. That was back when Sesame Street was pure, innocent and for kids.

  • Is there a name for what Madeline is doing at 03:50? Is it vibrato?

  • it's a trill

  • @stevenscottoddballz : that and something called "coloratura"- where a singer, usually a soprano, adds some ornamentation to a part of a song. :)

  • @stevenscottoddballz It's called a cadenza.

  • i was named after madeline kahn (: she truly was an amazing woman.

  • RIP MK! A lovely lady

  • I though he said shut up, too. I was like "ummmm!- naughty word!" lol

  • @chevychic73 "Showoff." Not "Shut up."

  • Wow. My favorite Sesame Street character singing with Madeline Khan? I never thought I'd see that. R.I.P. :'(

  • So talented..I love her. so sad she died.

  • Grover's pimp!

  • We should all be grateful that videos like this exist so that people like Madeline will be frozen in time like this for all to see. She was such a beauty.

  • What a beautiful voice, eh? (Meaning Madeline Kahn. Grover, um, not so much!) ;)

  • pretty voice!!!! wish she was still alive!

  • only good seseme street is late 80 and back to the 60s i dont even waste my time on this new garbage.....thanks to al u posters i come here to get my fix

  • I love it!!!

  • Gotta love how he cuts her off at 3.42, and then goes on to shake his head as she sings.

  • EeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEE!!

    xD

  • i work at Sesame Place and this is my favorite song they play, this and captain vegetable

  • Oh, Madeline, if only you could have lived longer than you did...

  • I'm 18 and haven't even played it yet, just waiting for it to buffer a little, and I IMMEDIATELY remember this! I'm relieved I got to grow up before Sesame Street got a little outdated.

  • Madeline was such a fantastic comedian and she was so gorgeous. I loved her in all her movies, my favorites were Sherlock Holmes's Younger Brother, Young Frankenstein, History of the World, and of course Blazing Saddles. It's terrible that she died since her humor was so quirky and original.

  • SO THAT was her name!!! My God! I've always had a crush on her but never knew exactly who she was, and over the years, completely forgot about this....... so thanks for posting this!

  • For the first couple minutes, I didn't even realize this was Mrs. White from Clue.

  • Lovely Madeline and the ever adorable Grover! I love them both!!

  • Wonderful!

  • i hav neva heard of this woman b4. shes amazing. i guess she was quite famous way back when.?

  • this stuff is so good. c'mon yanks. this is priceless

  • sweet =D

  • What a beautiful lady she was! My friend has a camaro that Madeline bought brand new-- as well as the original paper work and maintenance reports with her signatures. It's now for sale... what a find!

  • That's amazing! They need to keep that forever!

  • Grover is the man! Only he can be so smooth with the ladies :)

  • "You gotta be kidding me?" ;)

  • This is a CLASSIC!! Madeline Khan was great! Thanks for posting this! :)

  • she looks like Reese Witherspoon.

  • @orrekorre You mean Reese Witherspoon looks like her.

  • She was so talented and beautiful inside and out. I still miss her. But she does live on in so many movies and shows.

  • I always thought he was saying "Shut up"!

  • Where did it sound like he said "shut up"?

  • @skanthavelu He said, "show-off", after she did the long cadenza the 3rd time.

  • So, you are looking highly attractive today.

    LOL!

  • Oh, god. Can't believe i found this. A vivid childhood memory bought back. THANKS YOUTUBE!

  • lol! madeline kahn is a classic comedienne. this video reminds me of the history of the world where she is picking out the best looking cocks...yes yes, no. yes yes yes, no no...yes YES YEEEEESSSS! then the guys prance away after her selection as her head bobs up and down cause she's still staring at their junk. lol.

  • Did anyone notice that Grover says at the beginning "You are looking highly attractive today." The puppeteer probably has his hand wrapped around her waist and so she replies by calling him "Groper"!

  • Very sharp! I didn't pick that up!

  • this is sooo cute!

  • Barrio seSamo, algo que deberían ver los niños en vez de ver tanto tiempo la tv y jugar con las consolas.

  • She died in 1999 from ovarian cancer, RIP.

  • I have always loved this skit. Ms. Khan is dearly missed! I am 37 years old now, and I cherish all the vintage S.S. clips from the 70s. What do we have now? It may as well be called The Elmo Show. Pfff! *gag* Nothing but crap!

  • I had a video of the best clips of this show. This was my favorite one. I'm 20 now, and yeah I agree that Elmo is severely overplayed in the show now.

  • 70's and 80s (80s when i was small) was the great times. All sibs except baby bro grew on Classic Sesame Street, but baby bro grew on Nick Jr and we showed him the tape of 80s Sesame Street mom made. We made do for him but I wish they still had the "classic" standard of Sesame Street for him. It would be great to say @ the Emmy's that the same standard raised generations of children. Alas, this is not the case.

  • I totally agree! I am 37 also. They need to release videos from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I would buy up the 70's one in a heart beat. I STILL have these songs in my mind.

  • They do sell Sesame Street DVD's from 1969 to 1974.

  • Dude there are a few dvds out :)

  • "fiddle diddle deeeee-ee-eeeeeeee!!"

"fiddle- ...you've got to be putting me on!!"

    ROFL!!!!!!!

  • it was cute when grover said "show off"!

  • Does she remind anyone of Madonna?

  • sorry but madonna could only wish

  • She was before Madonna....so Madonna would remind you of HER!

Madonna has NOTHING compared to this woman. Madeline's voice blows Madonna's voice away.

  • and shes not a whore.

  • not really comparable. Bu thanks for your strong opinion chuck norris

  • Madonna??? Noooooo!!! Madeline Kahn has a tad bit more class than Madonna don't you think?

  • not at all

  • She is just adorable and seems so kind. I love her facical expression at 4:03.

    RIP MK.

  • haha, so cute!

  • I love Madeline Kahn

  • Ohh, yeah!! I used to watch this on a Sesame Street sing-a-long video! It's so funny, and Madeline Kahn is hilarious! And it's twue!

  • You gotta be kidding me. This is birlliant comedy. The new Sesame Street is nothing like
