  • wait wait wait,...while fasting,..you have to consume a small amount of food?? if you're new to fasting, how hours should you go without eating?? what all should i consume? as in how many calories. can i have a dessert before the end of my eating period??

  • take a Snickers bar. cut it in half. BOOM! two meals right there.

  • 6 meals and 45 cal each= 270 calories per day O_O

  • WE DO NOT NEED THE AMOUNT OF FOOD THAT WE ARE BRAINWASHED IN TO BELEIVING THAT WE DO, TRUST ME. THE HUNGER PAINS ARE GOOD THEY LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE WINNING THIS BATTLE LITTLE BY LITTLE, BUT YOU ARE WINNING. IT'S ALL ABOUT DISCIPLINE!!

  • Aren't YOU cute?!? Sorry, though-- you're a little too young for me! But I will take your advice... Thanks for posting!! ;^)

  • hey just wondering if anyone has had success at getting an actual sixpack using eat stop eat

  • @westbellair : I gave it a go and tend to get hungry. I now use it to take down inflammation in my body periodically & for cutting back when I have been indulgent. You can see an upper abs unless I am eating heavy salt intake. My body fat reads are 15-20% and I am female, so that is on the lean side. I don't carry fat there usually though. Any method to reduce body fat to a low level will show abs but you may need a cleaner diet or bloat can hide it. I do feel I gain strength faster on ESE. ☺

  • Just a thought: All these 45 cal healthy things I am thinking of are about hand sized. If intake was minimum "meal" cals, eating 1x h w/ both hands, for 24 hours is about 2000 calories. Weird eh? If we cut out for 7h (human minimum) sleep it would = about 1500. I think its strange because thats the # for CRON health benefits (approx) and if we were beast in the wild it would a snatch & run situation.(non-fattening eating! LOL) (45 x 24) x 2 = 2160 - [(45x7) x2= 630] = 1530

  • 6 "healthy" meals per day (assuming you eat below maintenance), if you want to Maximise Muscle to fat ratio because:-

    1. Facilitates Spread of Essential Aminos, Complex carbs, and EFA's every 2-3 hrs - assuming your diet contains these. Oats, rice, Fish, Egg whites come to mind

    2. Smaller insulin spikes.

    3. Marginal affect on metabolism as body is continually digesting food

    4. Reduced appetite (I find personally)

    5. All the best Body-builders use this protocol before a show along with Cardio!

  • @Anmol205 You're right but...

    1. During the fast, you liver can do this

    2. Ths spikes of insulin are smaller but just a little bit and research shows that many little spikes of insulin is worst than 2 big spikes for your health (specially for diabete).

    3. The "myth" of boosting metabolism is WRONG (prouved many times).

    4. Reduced appetite is true at the begining, but on the long term it's gonna make you eat more.

    5. All the best body builders are on steroïds so it's not the same thing ;)

  • @geraldstoppini . Thanks for getting back, my response:-

    1. The liver will take any protein surplus and will eliminate via transaminations, deamination, and urea formation - so you need frequent protein induction frequency to be fairly high circa 4-7 times a day. I get lean from frequent protein feedings cutting back on fat and carbs. This becomes more important without steroids.

    2. With a clean diet, i.e. keeping sugars to a minimum and mixing in EFA's insulin response is muted.

  • @Anmol205

    1. You forgot the protein stock of your cell's recycling and bacteria flora production. It's not necessary to eat 7x/day to make muscle. It's proven. You can eat 1 large meal and make muscle as long as you eat suffiicient amount of protein. You don't get lean from frequent feedings but from hypocaloric intake.

    2. And frequent feedings make your insulin up and down very often...

  • @geraldstoppini

    3. Yes, in terms of affect on BMR, however, the release of digestive juices on a frequent basis facilitates the maintenance of BMR

    4. From my experience, right up until single digit body fat %, multiple meals are the best overall cure for hunger, especially with the use of low calorie bulk foods, e.g. Broccoli, Peppers, etc

    5. Even the best 'Natural' BB's use this protocol.

  • @Anmol205

    3. References?? I've never seen such a thing. It's totally wrong if you look on scientific studies, the BMR is NOT affected by frequent feeding. The total calorie intake will do this in the long term.

    4. You just said it. It's mainly the low calorie bulk. Not the multiple meals.

    5. It's not because a lot of people do the same thing, that proves they are right :)

Many people believe in myths :) (i think the majority of people are ignoring a lot of facts, and prefer to believe myths)

  • does this mean that if i have breakfast at 300 cals im done for the day w/ my six meals? or do i have to distribute the calories into six sections? i mean, think about it: if eating half a bowl of cereal, sweetened with fruit, is 200 cals, do u just have a few tbsp and then stop and resume a couple of hours later? do you eat 4 bites of your sandwich and finish the rest off 3 hours later? do u have half a slice of pizza in the afternoon, and half in the evening?

  • @safi456 Respectively:

1.) Eating six meals per day, that's six feeding intervals, not six chunks of 45 calories.

2.) You're supposed to distribute caloric allowance over six sections, yes.

    3.) Pretty much.

4.) You could just make a smaller sandwich to fit it in. Maybe fold a slice of bread in half instead of using two slices.

5.) Look at the calories in a slice, if it doesn't breach (Daily Allowance / 6) = It's fine.

Higher meal frequencies are really only useful at higher calorie needs.

  • I agree with Brad. I know that the times when I ate REALLY small meals (under 100 calories) multiple times per day I felt REALLY good and had more balanced energy then when I ate two normal meals per day. Eating six full meals per day will lead to high insulin levels and weight gain for most people unless they are very fit and physically active.

  • yikes I might have 20 meals on some days...

  • You are so brilliant! Awesome! Thank you so much : )

  • thanks dude because i was worried about not eating enough

  • I'd think the best reason, for a 6 meal a day, is the hormone balancing effect because of the decreased spikes of insulin. Which would be better for most of the fat poeple, wouldn't you think so?

  • @younes0807 If you check Brad Pilon vids-'How Much Protein - Carbs, Protein and Insulin' and ' Growth Hormone for Fat Loss' ,the 6 meal/day plan and its use for Fat loss might not be the best way.

  • @younes0807 The 6 Meals Per Day for Weight Loss and hormone balancing is probable a myth.

  • Good post Brad. People get too bogged down with numbers.

  • Interesting information Brad. Thank-you for it. Did you reference the research anyway such as at your blog?

  • @alowry2002 I also want to know this. The 45-calorie meals number sounds familiar, but I'd like to slam it in some people's faces legitimately sometime as well.

  • cant hear ya
