  • Um.. Yes guys this is definitely Frank, from 1942 so its a very old version but it is absolutely 100% percent Frank. Hell it was one of his first solo records released on the Bluebird label.

  • night and day sinatra's the one day and night.....

  • It's obviously not Frank Sinatra. But it's a really beatiful version. Can anyone tell me who's singing in this one??

  • this is not frank sinatra

  • We all have our opinions and I prefer the 1961 Reprise version! He became a much better interpreter of the lyric as he aged! Don Costas arrangement is perfect but this vintage Frankie is fun!

  • The Chairman, when he was The Voice....

  • He keeps in this version the true melody and how it was written originally by Cole Porter. This is the way I like to hear melodies from that era...

  • This is a Cole Porter song... SInatra just made a cover!!!!!!! Ignorants!

  • @bukowskiisdead What the fuck is ignorants?

  • @bukowskiisdead Ignorants...you are an ignorant of the English Language.

  • wow, this does not sound like Sinatra at all...

  • r u sure that's Frank? Sounds like Fred to me, but hey, what I know...

  • Awesome!TY ArgonDiscoverer for posting.

  • Wow! love it!

  • Why did so many do this as jazz ? it's a romantic song that doesn't need all the mental jazz.

  • HI .. the original is from the comedian harmonists.. you can find it here...

    youtube.com/watch?v=c9pFRJKbCcQ

i must say, if find the german version better :(

  • Lovely romantic song every written.

  • are you sure this is sinatra singing???

  • Love Frank Sinatra..the best!!

  • It's not a frank sinatra song, its Cole Porter.

  • kinda donald duck 1970 ;)

  • Actually, Cole Porter beats Frank Sinatra anytime, for he composed it.

  • @oozer23 Actually U2's version beats both Sinatra & Cole Porter for they remade it into an edgy cool & freaky obsession song. Look it up.

  • this is totally Frank, his voice changed a lot when he got older, but you can hear it is the same if you really know anything about Sinatra. I'm only 30 and LOVE him, and can tell his voice anywhere...he was amazing. Wish I could've met him.

  • @godsprincess00 i did. he was an asshole. Cool, but an asshole.

  • His first song solo. Did you know?

  • yes of course: You must heard it to understand how magic this song is...

    Marketing technique :)

  • "Its one of the grates songs of Frank Sinatra. But what does i say..... hear it."

Is that supposed to mean something?

  • This one sounds like Bing Crosby...

  • This is Frank in the early years of his career. He had a great voice. Vic Damone also does a heck of a good version of this song. Then there is Paul Williams whom I think

performs Night and Day with The Temptations magnificiently.

  • Nobody but nobody, not even Sinatra, sings this song as Porter wrote it. He synchopates the rhythm and all the famous interpretations smooth it out. SSorry Cole

  • que buena en inglés en español es fome

  • No way this is Frank Sinatra... This singer has vocal control, multi-octave capacity, and sounds nothing like Frank. What kind of 91 thousand prank is this?

  • @EvenCheekier this is frank sinatra stupid '

  • Frank Sinatra had a way with a lyric- not unlike Ella Fitzgerald- that makes you believe every word. He could sing the phone book and make it compelling; give him a Cole Porter song, and you've got magic.

  • INCREDIBLE! Really sounds like Frank to me, especially when he sings that line "there's an oh such a hungry yearning" (1:40). Thank you so much for posting this. What a treat to hear the tenderness of youth in his voice.

He equals the magic of Fred Astaire singing it to Ginger Rogers (and of course does it better, technically speaking).

  • este no es frank sinatra

  • @jesuscryincross Y tanto que no lo es, anda que no se nota.

  • For me this is Sinatras finest version of this wonderful song. The singing style is refreshingly simple, unadorned and beautifully phrased.

  • I totally agree. This is basically the composers arrangement. It appears to be recorded earlier in Frank's career. Perhaps he didn't have the juice to Sinatraize things back then. Perfectly done in the style of the era in which it was written.

  • It's good to discover a like minded person concerning this particular Sinatra rendition. Although compelling,I find for example his version with Nelson Riddle recorded in the 50s just a little too slick and brassy for what is a very poignant love song. You use the term 'Sinatraize' which sums up his later work very aptly.

  • Glad to hear from a like minded person. His subsequent versions e.g. with Nelson Riddle although compelling sounded rather too slick and brassy to my ears for what is essentially a poignant love song. You used the word 'Sinatraize' very aptly.

  • Quest' e Sinatra cuando era giovanno

  • Yes, this IS Ole Blue Eyes. He recorded the song at least five differfent times in the studio. This was the first time he sang it in the studio. Very nice I think.

  • its Sinatra but in that time he was very young

  • It is not sinatra but nice version anyway

  • raybossa777 - lady was Ava Gardner.

  • this is by cole porter

  • who's the beautiful woman on the last picture? Anybody knows?

  • Ava Gardner. He was quite taken with the tempestuous Southerner.

  • NON E' SINATRA !!!

  • love this songs

  • This song was written by Cole Porter. Mr. Porter was a genius and this song was made famous by the musical that it was written for. The first verse of this song that was omitted by Mr. Frank Sinatra was the verse that made the song what it is.

  • I really don't think this is Frank. I'm almost positive, but it is a beautiful version!

  • Type in Hobeken 4, when he was in his early 20's or 19 or something. You'll be surprise how much higher pitched his voice was and how different he sounded.

  • Exqusite version.....though I do agree with other posters that ol' Frankie's voice certainly did get huskier & deeper over the years. But he aged...as we all do...and few people have the same voice in their 70's that they had in their 20's. His heavy smoking & drinking naturally didn't help things much. But with all his faults, he's still one of the greatest singers that ever lived. THANK YOU for sharing this delightful gem from yesteryear with us! Happy Holidays!

  • over 50000 views

    THANKS A LOT

  • @ArgonDiscoverer Thank you

  • amen brother

  • to all the jerks above, IT IS FRANCIS, SURE HIS VOICE GOT RICHER AND DEEPER AS HE AGED, SO WHAT....HE'LL ALWAYS BE NUMERO UNO

  • Frank's voice at this time was a thing of incredible beauty.

  • can someone please tell me its defo Sinatra? as it doesnt sound like him, unless its when he was really young? otherwise i dont think it is him! help!

  • What a song! It doesn't get any better than this.

    Artistry and emotion combined.

    So powerful, so authentic.

  • Ahem.... looks like I may be wrong... he was quite young, yeah, before tobacco changed his voice... There´s another video, Stardust, also quite young with the Lucky Strike orchestra and the Hit Paraders, in 1943. Check it out, his voice sounds differently, so I'm still in doubt.

  • It doesn't sound like Frankie, get serious...

  • Qué voz! Y la más maravillosa inerpretación

  • Beautiful Frank - just beautiful.......

    Thank you !

  • Marvellous - there was never a better singer than Frank - thank you!

  • this tune is 100% frank.......from jan 1942 with tommy dorseys orchestra

  • The intro lyrics to Night and Day (not incuded on this recording):

"Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom

    When the jungle shadows fall

Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock

As it stands against the wall

Like the drip drip drip of the raindrops

When the summer shower is through

So a voice within me keeps repeating you, you, you"

  • i dont know

  • What was the Sinatra song to have the lyrics "Drip, drip, drip"?

  • 1:02 isnt sinatra, can tell by the nose

  • everybody gets older with the time

  • Of course, that's Frank. It really shows how his voice changed as he got older. No wonder he was the super star that he was, especially in his early days when his voice was unbelievable.

  • smoking does that...

  • Yes it is. This is his first recording of the song from his first solo session recorded for RCA in Hollywood, CA on Jan 19, 1942.

  • it seems like Jack Jones voice, not Frank Sinatra

  • such a dreamy nice song <3

  • Love this song. This is my hubby and I's "song". :)

  • I'm jealous...not for his voice but because the wife.. I love Ava Gardner

  • When you've all stopped your argueing - this is most certainly Mr S - but a very young ,still wet behind the ears Frank. He had yet to reach the heights of magnificence acheived in later years.

  • this IS FRANK SINATRA. everybody who says something other dosn´t know him really.

  • Please... This is Sinatra himself. Even I know that much.

  • WOW! Beauty song... Thanks for sharing.

  • Sinatra did not write this song but undoubtedly sang one of the best versions

  • Wunderbar ! Wonderful ! But this does not sing Frankyboy. This is another singer though the song became famous by Frank Sinatra.

  • this is frank sinatra

  • Repeat: this is Frank Sinatra. The beauty of his career is the evolution of his voice from very light to mellow to very dark.

  • thank you so much. ja, you are right. it is a phenomenal evolution of one voice.

btw i like him really but have not recognized the very young franky.

    danke

    pete

  • Thank you very much for this beautiful song

  • nice song

  • magnifique...!!!

    thank.......great song

  • thanks to all

  • The best ever!
