  • your a child theif you shoulda let the mother raise it

  • They probably took the baby away from his mother because tiger moms that are in captivity do not know by instinct how to take care of their babies..or hunt.. But IM just guessing

  • Its so sad that south china tigers are almost gone. I love them im in school and i did project about it :)

  • Do you guys see how many ppl said y'all had no rite taking that baby the mother should have bitten your head off that's wat I would have done...........try Ma and see wat happens

  • 0:42 , epic poop stance

  • yikes that baby cry sounded like me when I was a baby LOL

  • Why did they take it away from it's mother that's not right. There should be a law for that

  • It needs more space it should not be in a cage

  • why not just bring the mom inside too? that is too sad. i felt real bad when she was pacing around with it looking for a place to hid it safely. all cats of all sizes like to hid their young for safety. not cool!

  • Shame he blatantly wanted his mum what gives us the right to seperate them!!

  • Lol. It's leg was straight up. Looks like a constipated tiger to me!

  • SMH I feel bad for him. He was crying for his mom duh and his mom wouldve beeen the one to keep him warm. >.<..

  • That's fine but Y did they take him away?

  • That's not right don't take it away from the mother

  • The only Thing i dun get is Why WE only see Female Tiger and not male with the females when they are giving birth!

  • 3:53 rebecca black is born

  • i wanted to cry cuz he wanted his mom

  • LOL baby tiger trying to roar but all that comes out is a "Waaah" xD

I do feel sorry for the mommy tiger though.. ya I do know how it would be better for the cub to be treated by professionals but- for a mother to be parted with her child.. x.x .. not so fun really.

  • S&R let the mom tiger take care of their babies. They are also bottle fed if need be. They have also for 20+ years given cubs to zoos etc as part of their save the tiger work. Mind you they allow their tigers to stay wild and yet they can work with them without beating. Weird that other big cat owners etc cant do that. Guess they dont take the time (years from birth) that S&R take.

  • This was fun to watch until they cubnapped the little guy from it's mom. So, we are suppose to just assume she would've been a bad mom. Maybe she is stressed from being imprisoned. I know I would be.

Look at the way she was pacing & carrying it, like she was trying to figure out how they could escape to give her cub a real tiger life.

  • the part when he's screaming,is him calling for his mother, this is animal cruelty, the cub should stay with its mother

  • id smack that baby tiger in the eye

  • What's the difference between normal tigers and South China tigers beside the fact that South China tigers came from South China?

  • @HunnyFunnyCunny

Millions of years of adaptions. There are 9 different tiger subspecies. A South China Tiger is known to be the original ancestor of all tiger subspecies, which means all Tigers evolved from the SCT. And they have broader stripers, longer snout, smaller size and longer legs(in proportion) compared to other tiger subspecies. They are also the most endangered Tiger Subspecies. Extinct in the wild, 70 left in zoos, all descended from just 50 individuals!

  • You retards, cats aren't humans. Sometimes

the mothers will kill, eat, reject or even neglect their young. They are an endangered species so the cubs need to be cared for! Without the risk of the mother!

  • Omg seriously they should have let its mommy take care of it. It needs her.. it makes me sad listenig to it cry for its mommy

  • what the hell are they feeding it ??? formula???? jesus....why didn't they just have an indoor cage where the mom could take care of her cub and still be warm? that was heart wrenching watching the baby cry and cry and cry for his mother :(

  • I Was So Distraught Watching Him Singing Out For His Mother, as I Have Read Everything That Has Been Said Up Above And Taken Into Account That South China Tigers Are Very Much Endangered, But To Take Away From His Mother No Matter The Weather Was The Cruelest Act. 2 Days Has Gone By and Still No Mother in Sight.I am Very Much a Tiger Conservationists and Have a Great Love and Respect For These Magnificent Big Cats, The Reason They Are Becoming Extinct is Coz of Us. Lets Get Real Now B4 2 Late.

  • THE ANIMAL IS ALMOST EXTINCT! IT WAS WAY TO RISKY FOR IT TO BE LEFT WITH ITS MOTHER! only 30 exist! so just stfu about saying it should have been left with its mother!

  • Awe, it's adorablee! :D

  • At 3:51 its cute

  • It's crying because it wants it's mommy! I don't care if she's in captivety and there are doctors to help, a baby's best comfort is it's mother. Mothers keep you safe, warm and loved, it was wrong to take the cub away from its mother. Period.

  • It couldn't be in a more comfortable cage :/

  • at 3:45 wow 12 he grow fast then at 4:15 i figuerd out the camera was on the floor

  • awww! i dont understand! why dd u separate it from its mother? that seemed kind of cruel to me..........

  • @Moonstorm100

they were saving its life, the weather was cold, the cub could have died

  • @ToKissMyTears but why ddnt they just move its mom n2 a warmer room?

  • @Moonstorm100

..... okay... let me pose this question do YOU wanna try moving a hormonal and dangerous tiger while smelling like the cub its looking for?

  • @ToKissMyTears they could have done it while she was still pregnant! They had like 9 months to do it!

  • @Moonstorm100

right..... cause we all know its soo easy to tell pregnancy before weird things happen and by then they are defensive. Read a book, educate yourself. Become a zoo keeper or something to try doing their job. Guaranteed it's not so damn easy, once youve done that THEN you can lecture people trying to save an ENDANGERED species

  • @ToKissMyTears well they wouldnt b endangered if people ddnt go n the woods n shoot carelessly!

  • @Moonstorm100 Gestation for a tigress is 93-100 days. That leaves a variation of approcimately 7 days you would have to keep her enclosed inside. She would certainly not like that, and her restlessness would add to her already moody temperament, making her a threat to zoo keepers. Quit complaining, both the tigress and her cub are fine.

  • this should be considered animal cruelty!!!

the mother is very well capable of taking care of its children

  • @salvydoor5229

Please read the description of the video.. The cub was removed only because the weather was unseasonally cold out doors and this is a rare South China Tiger, considered to be extinct in the wild. Each of them is important and we cannot risk its live out there in the cold. We have the responsibility to bring it indoors and make sure it grows up healthily, which it did. =)

It was not an easy decision, honestly. But we were glad we made that choice.

  • @salvydoor5229 I think they do it to be 100% sure it does not die. there not many of these animals left.

  • @salvydoor5229 It was most likely a mercy to the cub. Female predators in captivity often have a habit of neglecting, attacking or even eating their young. If it was my choice, I'd play it safe and take the cub away.

  • @salvydoor5229 I think what these wonderful people are doing is nothing less than extraordinary. Sometimes, even the fittest mother needs a helping hand and I think these people are doing an excellent job of protecting and helping these beautiful creatures. God bless :]

  • @salvydoor5229 animal cruilty? u do know they were helping it right? honestly some people dont get it. -.-

  • @salvydoor5229 if the mother was born in captivity then she wouldnt know how to take care of her baby.

  • @salvydoor5229 Poor baby tiger...crying for its mom...hope he is a strong and healthy adult cat by now.

  • like how mommy was like, where did the kid go when she turned around to take care of it :)

  • RAWR feed me cuz I'm adorable :) so cute

  • AWWW!((:

  • Where'd mom go?

  • where is the mother???? >=(

  • People saying they should have left the cub with its mom is like saying human moms should always squat in the woods and have their babies there. Nature didn't tell us what to do when things go wrong: That's what doctors are for. 50% chance for the baby... take the coin toss or go to the hospital?

This rare tiger was born in captivity with pros to give him the best chance at life, who made a call when he was born. I hear he's growing up big and strong, so it would seem they had the right one :)

  • @SatelliteExile

Thank you for your comment and support! It is with supporters like you who gives us more moral strength and courage to strive even harder in an attempt to save the critically endangered south china tigers. You are right, Huloo is now a huge male tiger, fully capable of hunting on its own. =)

  • @SatelliteExile Ok I think you're just exaggerating a bit dont you think? Comparing human mothers to wild animal mothers. Nobody is saying for mothers to "squat in the woods and have their babies there" Nature did tell our ancestors how to do it. Back then there was no doctors no pain medicine or nothing. How did they do it? Squating in the woods and having their babies there. Now there's doctors and medicine due to advanced science. Dont compare humans with animals cuz way different.

  • Nice I wish these guys rant extinct in the wild how many are left 10-20 maybe 0 in the wild?

  • @swizzbeats1212

Some experts state that they are extinct in the wild.... because it has been more than 20years since the last one was spotted in the wild. Others believe that around 10 - 30 are left because of pug marks and witnesses, Tigers are elusive and hard to be spotted...and our only hope is for them to continue being elusive and not be poached. Cheers.

  • How about Save Chinas Sun Bears and all the other animals they use and kill. Shark fin soup? Check out how they tap into the gall bladders of bears to get that "magic elixir" while they r still alive. Do the research people,China has got a LONG way to go.

  • @crazycatlady68

Hem, that's really stereotyping. China has invested a lot of efforts in the field of Conservation in recent years. Wen Jia Bao even attended the Tiger Summit held in Russia recently, the first one attended by a Chinese Authority. Yes, it is true that during the "Great Leap Forward", many animals were hunted till extinction, but right now the Chinese are trying their best to conserve what is left. Look at the success of China's Giant Panda breeding program as an example.

  • Good Luck to you all!

  • You learn somthing every single time you watch a video like this :)

  • oh shut up i dont like when people take tigers away from their mother. i love tigers and i will protect them better then anybody would. all people want to do is kill my precious babies. THESE ARE MY BABIES PEOPLE. IF I DONT BECOME I FUTURE MOTHER IM GONNA BECOME THEIR MOTHER. THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABIES.

  • he want to go with his mom :((

  • was the cub given back to the mother to raise or was it raised by humans?

  • KITTEH

  • This video makes me sad. The mother holds the baby in her mouth, pacing back and forth. She's looking for a nest, but she can't find nor build one for she is in a cold metal cage. Why did they tie off the baby's cord and put it on formula? Leave it alone, let the mother take care of the baby. Tigers have babies in nature all the time, and they survive without human interference. I've helped kittens be born, and I've only interefered when the mother cat "allowed" or "invited" me to do so.

  • that was sooo cute!!! i want one!!!!!

  • When He's roaring he sounds like a duck!!! XD

  • To be honest...when I watched this video I was happy, sad and mad.... the reason why im happy is cause a cub is born and mother tiger gave birth to that cub.

sad reason is seperating the cub from its mother.

mad reason is not letting the mother and cub see eachother...and I was hurt..I really wanted those 2 meet and i want the mother to take care of her cub since its hers and why feed the cub juice?

  • ppl gotta read first b4 they send 'deadful' comments. hahaha.

  • This cat is domesticated; how sad!

  • The mom looked back at the baby tlike holy shit what 's that that just cam out of my ass? haha

  • I'm glad you were able to save it from cold. Sorry you had to remove from mother, hopefully you can reintroduce later when little older?

  • How many kittens can a tiger give birth to?

  • that kitty is so spoiled... =3

  • i cant really see its to dark

  • Awww! The cub is the cutest thing in the world!

  • this little cub is to die for!

  • Please keep up the good work on saving South China tigers. Hopefully, they will become strong and independent so they can survive in the wild.

  • Comment removed

  • cutest thing ever

  • Cautiously optimistic.

    Don't ever give up.

  • they should have not take him from is mother,if its cold put both of them inside i feel sorry for cathay and her cub

  • Ok so it's like we are get u pregnant put u in a cage with no soft surfaces or anything then when u give birth we are gunba take away ur baby (cruleity to animals you should be ashamed)

  • @LilMissKittyKat7277 obviously these people are professionals; they're only being careful due to the small population of these tigers. if your child had a chance of dying, then i don't think you would have any objection to the doctor taking away your child so it will have a better chance of living during the first few hours of its life where there is a high chance of something to go wrong.

  • i never sine a tiger give birth so this one be fun for me and this is not my sister anderell it is her little sister kishanda

  • its so small as a new born cat

  • The poor little thing wants Mommy!

  • so adorible

  • 3:55 Dang, if that's how loud it screams before it has even been alive for a day, I can only imagine a full-grown roar.

  • who names a fucking tiger CATHAY!?

  • I hope you guys suceed in rewilding the tigers and reintroducing them back to their natural habitat.

  • if the weather was too cold outside, why didn't you put cathay inside together with her cub. usually after animal giving birth if you separate the mother and her baby, they will be frustrated right?especialy the mother. i'm very interested to learn this kind of thing. i like to learn new things about animals.

  • i agree that they should leave the cubs with the mother, and only intervine if the mother rejects them, but i think most likely the mother wasn't given the oppourtunity and they took it anyway, but i can't b sure cause it doesn't mention anything as 2 y the cub was taken. but i think maybe they should give the poort thing some company like another kitten or baby something if that cub doesn't have litter mates.

  • give me a break :(

do u have to detach the baby from the mother to SAVE them.

    just keep them joined

    have mercy

    Y_Y

  • cute tiger

  • The tigers name is Huloo , according to wikipedia

    SAVE CHINESE TIGERS

  • Humans complicate the world - this is not natural. Give the baby the mom's milk.

  • @WowzaDobe

The actions this zoological organization are taking in this video are actually necessary to save the subspecies and as a whole the species because of human activities toward the South China tiger subspecies. For much of the 1900s, besides being hunted for sport, its coat, etc. the Chinese communist govt actually encouraged the eradication of tigers, calling them "pests". There are an est. 50 max in wild so every captive individual born is important.

  • i agree with abo3isa! If you truly want to "save" the tigers, you need to allow them to take care of one another! Especially allowing the mother to care for her own newborn!!!!!! :'-(

What is with the orange liquid you're feeding him only 30 minutes after being born?! WHERE IS HIS MOTHER'S BREAST MILK?!?!

This is really really really sad..

  • Hi, just wonder how is the rehabilitation of the South China Tigers in Africa going on?

  • why don't you let his mom do the job???? poor thing he was crying for his mom!!

  • @abo3isa most likely the baby was crying to actually breathe; a baby's (or cub's) lungs still have fluids inside of them when it was in its mother's womb.

  • @abo3isa for the last time, IT WAS TOO COLD!

  • just 1 cub?? cats usually have 2-4

  • SAVE CHINA'S TIGERS

  • Very Cute

  • your right the weather should be much warmer now it can go back to its mother.

  • SAVE

  • SAVE THE TIGERS

  • @lfc4lyfdalton

Hello there, the reason it was removed was that during the period when Cathay give birth, the weather was unseasonably cold. There was a risk where the Cub would die of exposure, and hence we did what we thought was the best decision at that time, to remove the cub. Cathay did show motherly instincsts by licking the cub, but the weather was just too cold. This is written in our video description. =)

Visit our website for more information.

  • @lfc4lyfdalton it has to do with the fact that:

1,) Often times, animals in captivity, especially big cats, abandon the young and refuse to care for it. not saying that this is the cause.

2.) Human care insures that it stays healthy to ensure that it survives the first few weeks after it's birth, since babies can easily get sick. It also enables them to keep track of the animal's health so as they can monitor any changes.

  • @atrieisan

Thank you for helping us explain the situation here, we are very busy mostly and sometimes lack the time to respond to every doubt. Thank you for helping us clear "lfc4lyfdalton"'s doubts.

Anyway, great show of knowledge. =)

  • theres less then 15 now...

  • 15 what?

  • @omg12357 of these tigers...

  • holy shit theres only 15 left

  • cut ;)

  • SAVECHINASTIGERS Good job keep it up.

i realy like tigers end i dont want them to dissapear.

    GOOD JOB KEEP GOING!!!

  • Thank you. It is supporters like you whom motivates us and keeps us going.

Thanks alot. We are really grateful for your kind words. =)

  • Where is the mother of the tiger cub it looks sad because that scream is like he want its mom why wont they give it back to its mom

  • @4atet

  • @SAVECHINASTIGERS

I didn't feel cold there as all the workers were wearing sleeveless...

  • @joyride2008 Geez!!! Stop acting like you care more than those professionals. You really care about the endangered animals then you do some research and learn it. Those ppl are professionals who know what they are doing. They are doing hard works. Dont mkae that even harder. Every time I watch a clip about animals, some idiots whine with their stupid compassions. Piss me off!!

  • @

Thank you for helping us explain. =)

It is true that we took a long time to decide, and at last the whole team especially the experts in our team felt that it was important to seperate the cub in case it dies of exposure and that Cathay was a first time mom.

Furthermore, South China Tigers are critically endangered, and every one of them is important, it is our responsibility to make sure it is alive. =)

  • @SAVECHINASTIGERS No worry. I totally understand. That's a good what you are doing, please keep up the good work. God bless you!

  • Thanks for sharing this video! I noticed a lot of hate because of you guys stepping in and helping. If anybody watches many of the animal shows where an animal has given birth with caretakers the caretakers 99.9% step in to make sure the baby will have the best chance of living. In this case it makes even more sense- this type of tiger is very close to becoming extinct! A little help from humans can help save a species! Great work SCT!

  • Hello there,

Thank you for your kind comments and support. It is supportors like you whom gives us the pillar of strength and motivates us to work even harder to save this critically endangered species whom many experts and conservationists worldwide have openly declared extinct!

    Thank you once again.

  • why isnt it with its mother??

  • It's funny how you say that we couldn't move her to a cage inside because it could stress her.

She's in a cage with just a view.

I'm sure you are lying but nah. I wont get into that buisness. Also it says on your account "SAVECHINATIGERS" How come you raise this pet in a home? So I can go buy a tiger and keep it at home and say I am saving it?

You do not save a animal if you do not let it be with its mother since it dosen't get any hunting experince etc..

  • Hey there mjaaa93,

This is not a cage, this is our breeding center in Laohu valley reserve, South Africa. The breeding center is quite big, and has an internal and external section, as you can see from the video, Cathay kept pacing at the external section of the breeding center.

This is no ordinary tiger, this is the critically endangered South China Tiger, which has been considered to be extinct in the wild, around 60 of them are left in captivity, all in China.

  • This isn't a house, this is a private reserve in South Africa, and this is just the breeding center of Laohu Valley reserve. We have signed a contract with Chinese Government to bring these Tigers to South africa where we will breed them and allow them to regain their hunting instincts before sending them back to China for their eventual release.

Huloo(the cub) has been reintroduced to its siblings of the next litter, and they have successfully hunted.

Please visit our website 4 more info.

  • I'm going to disagree and say that taking the cub away, although inhumane in most circumstances, was probably the correct thing to do, and considering the tigers are critically endangered, sometimes you need to do these things ;)

But one question, is it 100% sure that South China Tigers are still in the wild? Because I'm doing a school project and some sources say there's Extinct in the wild, and that there hasn't been a spotting since 1964 :S

  • Hello there ArabianMay,

Very knowledgeable on your part there, many things you stated are correct.

It isn't confirm that South China Tiger still roams China's wilderness, it has been about 40years since the last wild Chinese Tiger was spotted!

A census we funded, conducted by Ron Tilson several years ago came out with the conclusion that South China Tigers could be extinct in the wild, and even if they do exist, perhaps only around a handful are alive, and are scattered all around China.

  • Our Organisation, Save China's Tigers believes that the South China Tiger still exist, because there are still unconfirmed sightings, pug marks, claw mugs and even waste material which are too large to be that of other cat species such as the Chinese Leopard.

Due to the fact that it may possibly be extinct in the wild, hence we initiated this rewilding project, to allow these captive bred chinese tigers to regain their survival instincts. So that they can be released back into China's wild.

  • seriously tho, shouldnt it be with its mother when its that young???

  • Hey there,

Yes, at such age in the wild, it should be with its mother. However because it was november when Cathay gave birth, and it was unseasonably cold in South Africa, hence it was neccessary to remove the cub to prevent it from dying due to exposure to the cold.

Cathay did show motherly instincsts by licking the cub, but the weather was just too cold.

Visit our website for more information.

  • hm..i think yu should've let the cub bond with it's mother! to have a cub and have it taken away...won't the mother be sad? ._.

  • Hello there, It was november when Cathay gave birth, and unseasonably cold in South Africa, but unfortunately un-seasonally cold weather necessitated the cub being removed to prevent it from dying from exposure.

Cathay did show motherly instincsts by licking the cub, but the weather was just too cold.

Visit our website for more information.

  • i love cats

  • Why did they take the cub from mom???

  • Hello there, It was november when Cathay gave birth, and unseasonably cold in South Africa, but unfortunately un-seasonally cold weather necessitated the cub being removed to prevent it from dying from exposure.

Cathay did show motherly instincsts by licking the cub, but the weather was just too cold.

  • OMg it's sooo cute. It's like 'Rawwrrr I'm so hardcore!'

  • should have been left with its mum interfering to much!!! cute tho :D

  • ehhhhhhhh...................>_>

  • y take it away from its mum soo early

we humans think we know it all

    I didnt like that

  • I'm sure there was a reason they did so. Don't be so quick to say things specially if you don't fully understand the situation.

  • what reason?

  • The mother was confused by the cub because it was her first litter. Also she gave birth at a very cold time of year so they had to get it warm as soon as possible. The tiger is now 2 years old & an excellent hunter, he grew up with his two younger brothers so no need 2 feel sorry for him. They did the right thing.

  • Why didn't they just put her in a warmer enclosure late in the pregnancy, then?

  • You must understand that these South China Tigers, especially Cathay have been successfully rewilded and loves the natural environment. Like wild tigers, they have an instinctive fear of cage and enclosure. Luring it into the large breeding camp has already cause her a lot of stress. If we were to move her indoors, where she is stepping on concrete ground with no fresh air or dirt, she will be even more stressed, and this might cause danger to both Cathay and her cub during pregnancy.

  • @h2oteen

It was UNUSUALLY cold, the weather caught everyone by surprise. Also there's less than one hundred of these tigers in existence so they didn't want to risk losing him.

  • LOL 3:54 SOUNDS LIKE A DUCK!

Cute cat that makes duck sound affects :D

Kind of like Gary the snail in Spongebob, the snail that meows XD

  • Thats soo cute

and i never hear the alike cry of a baby and a cub

  • i wanna bottle fit a wild animal !!!!!!!

  • SO CUTE! I have always wanted to hug a tiger. I am not any more of a tiger fan than many others, yet that seems like it would be great. I know its crazy, so don't tell me. I hope that the tigers are doing well and god bless you for helping them!

  • aw, it was like she was waiting for the handlers to come see what she did!

  • it looks wierd how it gives birth and i think one paw was in the air

  • I would like to see him with his mother a little bit!

  • thats not right. a cub/pup/calf should never be taken awat from their mother!!!

to me that is pure cruelty...

  • The reason it was seperated from its mother is that, after the birth, which took 12 hours, the four and a half year-old Cathay displayed her motherly instincts by cleaning and licking her cub, but unfortunately un-seasonally cold weather necessitated the cub being removed to prevent it from dying from exposure.

  • aww, that was so cute!

thanks for saving tigers! they are beautiful creatures!

  • hes sooo cute! hes growls cute too1

  • he gorwls so cute!

  • aww so cute!

  • why breed them in captivity? Its the wild cats that is endangered! zoo's don't relocate and repopulate areas that are considered endangered! So what now ?!?1 more wild cat is entrapped in zoo like condition?! there a fine line between saving a species and allowing goverment to interveane, we are humans and choose the path of all species! i just hope that the goverment from where these cats are native will someday give a damn!

  • better than doing nothing and letting illegal hunters kill them all.
