When fighters are also paid grand amounts like those that are in boxing, the focus of fighting is no longer about the sport itself but the money. I do not agree with how much UFC fighters are paid, but to state Dana White is all to blame is debatable.

If you look at the numbers UFC does more ppv buys than boxing and wwe combined. Boxing has two draws now and thats Mayweather and Pac and if they aren't fighting the ppv numbers are laughable.
@sfields425 that's deceptive. Boxing events are rarer than UFC events. UFC events run almost monthly like a television series. They put on more shows so therefore they earn more ... but their total fan base is still a lot smaller than boxing.
Likewise a mediocre circus can perform monthly and make a lot of money while the worlds greatest circus can perform once a year and be more anticipated and respected.

not yet but it's already evident that boxing is declining...ufc shows many ppv events..and it's so main stream right know a lot of people are getting into it especially the younger audience so i think mma future is more secured than boxing..like i said it's only a matter of time that boxing will be gone in the U.S. boxing is not generating newer fans here in the states..

How does this differ from mma specifucally ufc. Id say tha boxing is much more diversified and way more guys to be talked about. The hw division in the ufc has a 4-1 chapion. Thats not even possible in boxing, you have to earn your way to the top. MMA has a long ways to go to even touch boxing yet, we will see if it's just a fad like i think or something bigger within the next ten years.

Japan, Korea, Brazil and now the states all favor mma to boxing. the ufc already have had events in Europe and they have all done extremely well. Mexico contributed to 25 million viewers for UFC 100. Georges St.Pierre (UFC welterweight Champ) won athlete of the year in Canada. I don't know how boxing can have more interest worldwide, when MMA has a wider reach.

Showtime has good to great fights also, its not only about HBO. Just like its Affliction & Dream have great fights its not just about UFC. But it is good that MMA have pushed boxing to up their shows. We are now seeing better boxing fights & cards being put together. Gone are the days where boxing shows were a bunch of nobodies fighting somebodies. Gone are the days of C-/C cards with only one big fight. Thank you MMA for that because I love boxing & have since I was young.

Yeah, well they're not afraid to box, they just know they'll lose if they box. They have other techniques that they are more skilled at and can use to gain advantage on their opponents, that's why they choose not to box. What would a boxer do when he's on the ground with a black BJJer, I don't think he can do much.
Nowadays a boxer isn't dumb enough to just go into an MMA fight with what he knows in boxing. Chances are that the boxer would take about a year or 2 of takedown defense and learn the basics of being in any position, guard , etc. I am by no means skilled when compared to decent amateur MMA fighters, but my style is mainly kyokushin and muay thai, but i did practice takedown defense at the gym for a couple of years and i feel comfortable on mount or guard. it's a matter of adapting.

When fighters are also paid grand amounts like those that are in boxing, the focus of fighting is no longer about the sport itself but the money. If you look at the numbers UFC does more ppv buys than boxing and wwe combined. Boxing has two draws now and thats Mayweather and Pac and if they aren't fighting the ppv numbers are laughable.

Likewise a mediocre circus can perform monthly and make a lot of money while the worlds greatest circus can perform once a year and be more anticipated and respected.

Ive never seen boxing get so much attention as it has this past year between Pacman, the Super Six, announced rematch of Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. I think boxing is decreasing in popularity in the US but exponentially increasing in popularity world wide. Boxing is not a dying sport and UFC is not a sport at all ... you really cant even compare the 2. UFC is basically the real unscripted unfake version of the WWE.

How does this differ from mma specifucally ufc. Id say tha boxing is much more diversified and way more guys to be talked about. The hw division in the ufc has a 4-1 chapion. Thats not even possible in boxing, you have to earn your way to the top. MMA has a long ways to go to even touch boxing yet, we will see if it's just a fad like i think or something bigger within the next ten years.

That's debatable idk if you have any numbers to back that up. Japan, Korea, Brazil and now the states all favor mma to boxing. the ufc already have had events in Europe and they have all done extremely well. Mexico contributed to 25 million viewers for UFC 100. Georges St.Pierre (UFC welterweight Champ) won athlete of the year in Canada. I don't know how boxing can have more interest worldwide, when MMA has a wider reach.

Showtime has good to great fights also, its not only about HBO. Just like its Affliction & Dream have great fights its not just about UFC. But it is good that MMA have pushed boxing to up their shows. We are now seeing better boxing fights & cards being put together. Gone are the days where boxing shows were a bunch of nobodies fighting somebodies. Gone are the days of C-/C cards with only one big fight. Thank you MMA for that because I love boxing & have since I was young.

the UFC is the future and the numbers are there. dana white gets ripped alot for being a cocky ass but let's give him some credit for what he has done. the ufc has already eclipsed boxing in the usa and it's mainly due to him. he took a human cockfighting sport and made it respectable. They have other techniques that they are more skilled at and can use to gain advantage on their opponents, that's why they choose not to box. Nowadays a boxer isn't dumb enough to just go into an MMA fight with what he knows in boxing. Chances are that the boxer would take about a year or 2 of takedown defense and learn the basics of being in any position, guard , etc. I am by no means skilled when compared to decent amateur MMA fighters, but my style is mainly kyokushin and muay thai, but i did practice takedown defense at the gym for a couple of years and i feel comfortable on mount or guard. it's a matter of adapting.
