  • see, now I have to buy a car from them lol

  • japan's got gundam.........china's got prime

  • i bet if the japanese made this. it would look so much more realistic. I say this because the japanese already made a life size gundam (robot thing) and its so bad-ass. Dont believe me? then go and search up "life size gundam" on youtube or google and u'll probably find a picture of it. BTW. the optimus prime looks retarded

  • hah so fake.

  • What an irony, Prime, a symbol that is so democratic and altruistic in his dealings, erected 6 storey high in a totalitarian state......?????.

  • INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!

  • Not to sound like a nerd but... that's not Primes gun.

  • Would it be possible for you to list the co-ordinates on google earth or wikimapia - it looks as though they've updated a lot of their maps of the area now

  • the face could have been better but nice job

  • cool

  • Wow! That thing is huge!

  • I wonder how much that would cost on eBay. More to the point: I wonder how much SHIPPING would cost.

  • I think it would be nice to see a video about the statue with Steve Jablonsky's "Optimus" or "Autobots" playing in the background... thanks to the movie, when I read about or see that statue I now hear that theme in my head, as it's become very deeply connected to Optimus and what he represents,to me.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!RUUUUUN!!!XD nah jk I'd stay there and take some PICS!!!

  • why would someone waste time and money buiding something that does not look like optimus

  • it looks exactly like the original cartoon optimus. What are you talking about?

  • @jlvdaum oh no it doesnt,the gun,the windows,the legs everything is different

  • @jlvdaum well, for starters g1 optimus did not have a wheel on his leg

  • @gavinfuzzy, you are right, but the toy had wheels on the leg.

  • @jlvdaum u mean foot

  • @gavinfuzzy

it does looks like optimus prime, only the colors r wrong, and people in china don't even actually know all the colors. even me when i was little, i thought the colors were red, blue, and orange.

  • and since japan created the gundam series the gundam statue is more detail(2009 toy model style)

  • yea defently a wash and some touch up work

  • The eyes seem extremely off..., but the rest of the figure looks like Optimus---just the head is kinda meh.

  • transformer are sent 2 DESTROY the evil ................... carseller?

  • he could do with a wash.

  • that's pretty awesome!

  • not life size technicaly.

  • ............What in the world? that got annoying. No offence.

  • try watching a movie called transformers where there are LIVE TRANSFORMERS on there kelnar

  • nice

  • little big for me

  • Does he talk?

  • just a statue u know

  • warghhhhhhhh!!!

  • Optimus Prime inadvertantly did what megatron has been trying to do all these years, taken over the world. autobots forever, ftu{fuck the universe}!

  • Can't believe ive been living there for 10 years and still have not seen it!

  • lol 4 real?

  • i went pass there all the time last year when i live in there. it's like in 2nd ring road.

  • omg! i just got back from kunming and that is like right in front this car dealership! oxbridge university is near there, where i stayed.

  • life-size? for starters, optimus was NEVER that fuking big in the cartoon. his wheel is as big as a man ffs that's overkill.

secondly, it's a fucking cartoon, "life" size?

lol it never existed in "life" in the first place.

  • hahahaha..... well said

  • And how proud of your self, do you feel, now that you have pointed that out.

  • This totally rocks!! Transformers live forever!

  • Now if only G1 Megatron had this kind of worldwide respect. :p

  • I think this is so mind boggling how far the Transformers fandom reaches. Who'd have thought some mountain village in China would erect such an awesome statue....and have him selling cars. :p

  • Mountain village with a population of about 4.67 million people, mind you. And it's also the capital city of Yunnan province. But yes, we all are joined by our love of Retro toys, and giant robots generally.

  • Eye LOOOOOOOOOL

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Sadly I enjoy looking at the statue more than the new movie.

  • now if only they can make it transform

  • uh.............thats very tall

  • LOL THEY SAY REAL BUT ONLY STATUE

  • its optimus in plastic mode

  • I think they bought this from Universal Studioes, when they had a "life-sized" tranformers exhibit back in '85. I only got to see the Megatron from it and that Prime looks like it matches it.

  • Maybe copied the design, but this is in the rural outskirts of Kunming China (a city with no port). One of my favorite things about it is watching donkey pulled carts (worker's transportation )pull in front of it every few minutes. Unless someone at universal has a wicked sense of humor and was willing to pay to ship it out here.... I think it's indigenous.

  • There was no Universal Studio's in 85. I went to Disney World in 87 and they were building it! The Transformer is funny cause its a Japanese toy, them a American toy company bought into it, and made american copies of the toys. Takara, Japan.

  • Universal Studioes has been in California for a long time. At the end of any 70's movie from Universal, you'll see the "Ride The Movies" ad.

I'm wondering if the statues were made in China and sent to Amercia. Universal could afford that. This could be a left over one? I hope to know the mystery of this one day.

  • optimes is not that big

  • You're right!... check out the video description and the previous comments for more discussion of optimus's size.

  • I wonder if you can see it on google earth

  • Sadly no, it is just out of the city's clear area, and into the "foggy" zone of what is available for Kunming on Google Earth

  • I think I can see Optimus Prime shedding a tear.

  • Pass him a rating star to cheer the aging toon star up before his image is erased by the new movie version that has lips

  • Thats actually bigger than life size. His chest is only as big as a semi.

  • Well I agree he's bigger than life size, check the description, after all, but the extra size is in those honking legs, not the chest...the chest is actually almost exactly the size of passing semis.

  • You might be right about that. The legs are larger to create a forced perspective effect. Either way, its still very cool. Every country should have one. Heck, every kid should have one.

  • I want it for the front yard

  • yeah, chinese always waste their money

  • lmao i was thinking the same thing

  • no its not wasting if they have the most money in the world

  • A super sized Optimus Prime in China?! Wow!

  • I used to see this every day on my way to my teaching job at YNNUBS!

  • Is it still up? and Where in Kunming is it?

  • still up but behing a construction site just now... out by the second ring roads most northwest corner... google for it and you'll find sights with directions.

  • On the plus side, it was built for five cents on the dollar.

  • Wow. What a fun vid. I didn't know whether to laugh or shout for joy to see Optimus IRL! Great sound effects too. I wish the video went on longer tho. Great stuff!

  • whoa! BIG!

  • god...so....big!!

  • But really, it's not the size of the prime that counts.

  • it's how you TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!~
