Thank you Fr. Himes for this wonderful and, indeed, wonderfully inspiring lecture. The section on Integrity - that one is the same person to all whom one encounters - is something that I shall remember and cherish and strive to be worthy of through the days of my life. Thanks also to Boston College for posting.
@Shqipria5 - Knowledge and wisdom should not be labeled - it is sought out beyond formal education - I am not a Jew nor am I a Muslim, but study both the Torah and Qu'ran ...... Never have I been to Boston College, nor have I been to Rikers Island......But Seek Knowledge and Wisdom from everything and everywhere- Understand what matters
@Shqipria5 far from it, they teach pretty much everything, including classes on orthodoxy. Fr. Himes actually teaches a class about what is wrong with religion and how people can still have faith even when it is absurd
Me too. My sister sent it to me this morning. I tuned in halfheartedly but he got me fairly quickly . A real inspiration,,, with a good sense of humour and a good heart.
A friend sent this link to me. I figured I'd listen a minute or two then be on my way. He is wonderfully inspirational; wish I could have had him as one of my professors in college. I listened intently, and even cried at his closing.

I like how there was a kid with a red sox shirt and then a kid with a yankee hat stood up in front of him. GO YANKEES and Michael Himes!

At Boston College, in theology do they only teach about Catholicism? I would like to know if they teach about Orthodoxy?!?!?!?!?!
