you can have literally as many as you like. however the more you layer, the older or quiter ones will get drowned out & eventually you will just get a wash of noise

dont worry,you did not get jacked...they go anywhere from 230 to 300 bills..with or with power plug....this pedal at 400 bucks would still be worth it...the price on these went up the minute every guitar slinger bought one...
