  • 3:23 what the fuck is going on

  • I think it is funny that people think you need triggers to do what you do. When my band opened for you and Sky Eats Airplane at Uncle Pleasant's in Louisville, I watched you go non-stop double bass for an hour and a half....probably longer then that but I just don't remember the specific time. lol

  • triggers make up for cheap drums, bad tuning, and/or sloppy technique. in budget recording situations, its not a bad way out. same as running drumagog on everything, but with less work. my first option as an engineer? no. but if im handed a session full of them, fine, ill make the best of it. trav's spotless technique and well processed drums are not the clear indication of taking the easy way out, just his sheer godlyness. a good drummer is consistent enough to make every snare hit the same.

  • He shuts dumbasses down on YouTube as well as he drums.

  • He shuts dumbasses down on YouTube as well as he drums.

  • first of all, Travis.......ur a god!!! lol, second of all, are you reading the sheet music???

  • Sexy sounding kit

  • SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT FOR THE MAN HERE!!!!

  • Killer! Those added ghost notes starting @ 2:49 make that sound so intense! The flams on the kick too!

  • Left handed, or Right Handed? because i noticed that you lead with your left foot, which i think is really cool. God damn it, i wish i could drum like you.

  • 2:50 to 3:26 is money... Travis is the man!

  • 1:19 hot single-hand roll. fapfapfapfapfap

  • What overheads are those? They sound ridiculously smooth

  • actually the ghost notes throughout were perfect.

  • @thatsmrmilton Freaking heck yeah as well!

  • theres def no triggers... this was very well executed. the ghost note at 2:09 was vicious.

  • @thatsmrmilton freaking heck yeah!

  • This guy has killer coordination.

  • Those ghost notes mang...3:00 in. Jeebus!

  • Every one of the 34,398 on this video are from me.

  • Lol I wouldn't expect someone who chose a screen name with slipknot in the name to even know what actual good drumming looked like anyway.

  • By far my favorite drummer. Love this.

  • You DO NOT disrespect the Orbinator!

  • Weather its triggered or not, what does it matter? Even if the kit had triggers, Travis would be no less of a drummer. I think it would sound great either way because of the person playing the drums. Good job Travis, you truly are an excellent drummer, and your drums sound perfectly clean and amazing.

  • dude, what china are you using?

  • The mic is floating! Oh just an optical illusion... by the way, you killed it once again, just so you know.

  • hey travis how do you get that bass drum sound? wich kind of heads are you using?

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS?

  • This is unbelievable

  • 4:42 exactly the sound i made when the video finished, i you know what i mean ;)

so fucking good travis i love your playing!

  • I love how you and Rudy even have similar drumming faces...

  • @000slipknot0maggots 1 trigger. -.- you can clearly see all the rest of drums are mic'd.

  • @Muffin337 Zero triggers - that's a hi-hat to bass drum attachment.

  • @shaftninja Not to be rude or anything, merely curious, why does it matter whether its "full of triggers" or mic'd? When you mic them up, its gonna change the sound whether or not you eq them heaps(which is often the case) or not at all, simply due to the mics. Again i'm not being a prick, only wondering.

  • @information94 Thus my retort. Triggers are often regarded ambivalently by drummers and other musicians. Due to the ambiguity of text (although I think it's safe to state the following), I perceived their comment as negative. People often wrongly believe that triggers can make you play faster or cleaner. However, had he/she worded it differently it could've been meant as a compliment, as it takes even more skill to play what I did yet with a sustained consistency and intensity.

  • @shaftninja Fair duece. Cheers, however as you said, I cannot see how triggers could make you play better since it's just a sound altering device. Ahh well, thanks again.

  • @information94 you tell em nat!

  • @Dadrummerdude haha I was just asking

  • @000slipknot0maggots I would be amused by your overly presumptuous comment had it not been phrased so rudely (i.e. "This has to be full of triggers!"). There is zero sound replacement in this video.

  • @shaftninja That comment made be come to this video. I'm glad that guy was so rude, or else I wouldn't of seen this AWESOME DRUMMING.

  • @shaftninja

    OH SNAP

  • @shaftninja Whoops, my bad :P

  • @Muffin337 You don't need triggers regardless. You're insanely clean anyway :)

  • @shaftninja you should take it as a compliment. means your kit is so finely tuned that it sounds like a machine lol.

  • @shaftninja haters gonna hate :P

  • @000slipknot0maggots Your username gives you tons of credibility.

  • @000slipknot0maggots do you think its hard to get your drums too sound like that...? not really... they aren't even heavily processed in this video either, quite natural

  • @000slipknot0maggots Your name has Slipknot in it, and you bitch about triggers

  • @TylerHNothing LOL.

  • @000slipknot0maggots Your youtube name says it all, noob

  • Pimped it!!

  • How much time do you spend following note sheets?

  • You and Matt helpern make me want to drop everythimg and learn drums :)

  • This makes me wanna quit my job and just practice for ridiculous amounts of time every day.

  • you're drumming is like the Kung-Fu style called wing chun. No fucking around, just efficiency.

  • any ego i had left has just been fully deflated, you're an inspiration dude.

what kit is that? TRUTH or the reference pure kit you talk about on your website?

    thanks

  • @himynameisgus Reference

  • I....just..... wow..... You literally just fucked my mind. Are you happy now?

  • If there's one thing i can say about Travis, it's that he manages to play the most physically challenging songs for a drummer- with the least amount of body movement. Each hit is VERY deliberate and precise.

  • EEUUUHHHHHHHH (Points)

  • 1:08-1:12........"Oh yea that's right, I'm playing drums!"

  • hey man love your snare head, whats the tuning like reso higher or batter higher or all equal? it's just such an amazing sound! you've earned a sub :D

  • To 0 to OVER 9000 !

How much difficult is this song ?

  • That is one of the most beautiful yet simple Kits i have ever seen. you are my inspiration! <3 i practice every day to one day be as good as you. I love you Man keep it up.

  • This is insane the symmetrical blows me away i wish i could play like this

  • he's very good, much better than me but a little robotic. to precise!

  • @paulhab12 I don't get why people think being tight is a bad thing! In the studio, would you rather have the guy who plays the song perfectly or the one who doesn't?

  • @Mp5Drummer Tbh i'd prefer a drummer who plays with feeling. No doubt this guy is insanely good and id be so fricken happy to have his skills... but he's kinda boring to watch and listen too, too mechanical

  • @Metalmachine18 What do you mean by feeling?

  • @Metalmachine18 Lol watch the Nick Johnston sessions and tell me he has no groove and no feeling...

  • @paulhab12 Yea exactly, very skilled but no groove or feeling to it

  • is that the only hi-hat he uses or is there another hiding somewhere in there? what the hell...this is the first drummer who i seen play like this...the way his drum set is....that is sick...nice cover by the way...thumbs up!

  • @redheadlino12 Yeah, check out his other videos, he has hats on both sides. This isn't really a cover, Travis was the drummer for this band when this song was written, these are actually the drum parts he wrote!

  • @Mp5Drummer Actually Misha programmed all the drums originally

  • @bubbasock Not these parts, Travis took Misha's parts and "Orbinated" them. I would venture to guess that these parts are considerably more complicated than the drums in the first version Misha recorded!

  • @Mp5Drummer cool...thanx man...this is actually pretty cool

  • @redheadlino12 a high hat at the "normal" place and the one where the conventional drummer has a ride

  • You're so crazy awesome at drums! Quick question; what kind of snare and how much in USD($)

  • DAT SNARE

  • this guy is unbelivable - he can do both left and right hand playings and ghost notes on each hand ! how do you find the strength to do that? impossible but fucking brill

  • The last stroke on should be made to a gif

  • We have an almost identical kit set up.

I'm just missing the second hi-hat, and the ride is on my right.

And I don't play left handed.

    Baddest motherfucker.

  • how the fuck do you remember all this shit. its so amazing. i cannot even fathom the complexity of the composition of this song.

  • @mgsg50 Its not like he would have it written out in his head, you remember by going with the feel of the song. but he's very very good which helps also!

  • "cross arms" better be in that transcription your reading!

  • What mics are you using?

  • i guess this is the modern style to play drums

  • love your kick sound.

  • Loving that deep brass snare. I've got a pearl b1330 13x3 and it's sick but not quite as pingy or poppy as yours

  • jezus christ travis, at first i was so dissapointed you weren't comming to holland with periphery and that i couldn't see you with SEA but man your a beast, guess this song will be called the run now, hotdamn i guess the guys from periph have seen another video where they'll be like, ffs why have we let him go in the first place! travis, YOU ARE KING

  • Cymbal hit at 0:39 is awesome

  • Where can I see what cymbals you're using? Subscribed from now on

  • awesome sound quality!!

  • its just not fair...

  • dem ghost notes..

  • 1 person couldn't walk

  • You nailed it, like a bosssssss.

    Thanks Travis, you're a huge inspiration. :)

  • Hitting that china from the bottom is amazing. Shows how flawless your grip is, very impressive.

  • That snare is sex to my ears!!. Please what brand and dimensions!?.

  • @drummeralex31musik i believe its a pearl reference brass 14x7

  • How much pussy on average do you get per month by doing this? I feel that just by shaking your hand I could get more pussy.

  • i really dig the grip technique you have!

  • Are you running any compression on the kick? Not that I'd be at all surprised if you weren't, but the consistency of sound quality is amazing. =)

  • Travis Orbin is by far one of the worlds most interesting drummers at present....

  • Is there a reason he uses two sets of high hats? i always wondered that

  • @VersusTheAir so he could play both right or left lead

  • @thetritone @VersusTheAir Not necessarily. They make different sounds, so he chooses which one to hit according to the sound he wants. At least that's what I've noticed if you listen carefully.

  • something to beat besides his meat. seriously though, you would fine much work in a studio that records black music.

  • what will happen if travis orbin and alex rudinger are in a room jammin

  • snare was dry this time was it not?

  • Man...I swear I could listen/watch you play all day.

  • The Walk was the first Periphery song I ever heard too, and this shit just blew my mind.

  • Great drumming. dont like the cookie monster vox but outstanding drums.

  • Dem Ghost Notes.

  • Is this your 20x18 bass?

  • Is there any possible way that you could cover, "Not Good Enough- See Me" by Brand X...... It's an awesome song and it has some ridiculous beats... By the way, you're amazing!!

  • You are amazing sir

  • its crazy how he makes halperns part look like a walk in the park

  • @iDrum628 it wasn't halpern's. Matt wasn't the one who did the drums to that song.

  • @IngloriousJavi really? who did it then?

  • @iDrum628 dont quote me on it but I'm pretty sure it was programmed. Same as the Animals as leaders album. not weightless. the earlier one. They've had this song before matt joined.

  • @IngloriousJavi i thought this different sounded different then the one i have so youre prolly right

  • I'll never forget when I let my girl drag me to a Devil Wears Prada show, and Travis fucking comes out on stage and plays for sky eats airplane. His warm up was better then 95% of the entire show

  • @BurnThePope0514 That is a very pleasant, flattering remark that brings back great memories. Thank you!

  • @shaftninja Brings back fond memories for me as well, it was my first time ever hearing anything from sky eats air plane, and I remember how low my expectations where for the show. Literally within seconds of your kick routine warm-up my mood about the show changed. At the time I just started watching your old Periphery play a longs and had no clue it was you until I go home (bad lighting/intoxication). Anyways thanks for making a "bad" show a great one.

  • As an atheiest, I don't believe in god. Then I saw this.

  • that snare aaauuuhhgggggaaaah!

  • 0 dislikes. Travis, you just won the internet.

  • It's people like you who make drumming so much more competitive for us who can't keep up! Don't stop! (Y)

  • Would be better without the terrible vocals. Killer drumming.

  • The china hits... So boss...

  • FUCKING SYCK BRO, mad props timing on target, CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS FOR POLYRYTHMIC DRUM CORPS MADNESS...

  • SUPER CLEAN as always! I watched this with a huge smile on my face the entire time. Travis, you're a damn BEAST!

  • 1:50 - How hard can you possibly beat your bassdrum, Travis?

  • I'm guessing this is the track thats now the Periphery album??

  • love it, what kind of mics are you using?

  • 1:08 Dude...... O_O

  • Its jesus running a kit! ALL HAIL!!!

  • i find it difficult to exhale while watching this. holy shit man! XD

  • dude, orbin, what the fuck man. ive been practicing this song like a fool and youre just killin it. down with you playing to the old verion too, most people dont realize the walk is a very old song. youre an inspiration to watch!

  • Man I have been practicing this song forever and all those little accents you do on your snare are so damn hard! You are easily the influential drummer I have ever seen in my entire life, hands down.

  • FEET FLAMS FTW!

  • That motherfucking snare.

  • Epic face at 4:27

  • 1:07 holy shit your right hand on the symbol what are you doing its awesome

  • @kjrody21 He's performing stick tricks while playing one hell of a difficult song.

  • i can't stop watching your videos and i wanna go to sleep

why do you hit the china from down to up ?

  • Does anyone know what kind of snare that is?

  • @bboytoxic36 14x6.5 Pearl reference brass snare :)

  • His woman must be destroyed.

  • Are you doing heel toe method? how are the quadruplets so clean!!

  • Anytime i watch any of your videos, I just Cry!!! knowing i will never be half as good as you

  • probably the most insane drum parts i've ever fucking seen....

  • Question, Travis: In terms of your footwork, I'm catching single-bass kicks starting on the left foot, and double-bass rolls starting on the right foot (kinda like a reverse Matt Greiner). Can you confirm or refute? Great playing, man! Keep up the good work =)

  • how would you compare truth kits to other custom drum makers?

  • that snare is a beaut!

  • PEOPLE, ORBINATED JAZZ IS COMING. STAND BY WITH CLEAN-EX FOR MAJOR EARGASMS.

  • this whole video is sick, but dude. the bass drum flam/triplet thing at 2:36 is such a cool idea! even though its not that difficult, it just sounds so great!

  • Are Periphery songs easy for you at all?

  • I'd love to see a foot-cam for your covers!

  • you are honestly so under-rated!!!!!!

  • @SyntaxErrorDrummer i'm pretty sure anybody who has watched travis' videos doesn't have a hard time seeing his incredible prowess on the drums.

  • dear santa... :o

  • sounds wicked.. i want them cymbals. lol

  • WTF?!?!!? at 1:08?

  • oh snare, how sexy you are

  • Seeing you do this video after I'd been patiently waiting for it for so long (mostly to see you slay a song I covered for fun) is just awesome!

  • @TheSilentMan04 your cover was great too man!

  • Dude you're awesome my goal is to be as good as you!!

  • @shaftninja Any chance you could do "Zyglorox?" Or "Letter Expiriment?"

  • Travis you are a true Gangsta!!!
