First, it's not really a bomb, more like an overgrown bullet. They just want to kick up enough dust from below the surface to that they can see what form the hydrogen is in. If there is enough water there that can be recovered it may be a lot cheaper for us to have a presence in space, perhaps even use the moon as a base for many things, potentially even generating energy for earth. First, it's not really a bomb, more like an overgrown bullet. They just want to kick up enough dust from below the surface to that they can see what form the hydrogen is in. If there is enough water there that can be recovered it may be a lot cheaper for us to have a presence in space, perhaps even use the moon as a base for many things, potentially even generating energy for earth. Nuts are always trying to spin stuff like this to look evil. Ignore them. It's just a science experiment.

No one is bombing the moon. We are flying a rocket into it to create a dust cloud to study. The impacts that take place on the moon several times per month from typical space debris do much more damage and create much more energy potential than a rocket hitting the surface. How do you think those craters on the moon got there in the first place? No one is bombing the moon. There are no explosives involved. We ARE NOT I repeat ARE NOT bombing the moon.

Like I already said the exploration of the moon is directly beneficial to people on Earth. The moon has large amounts of an isotope of helium that could be used in ways such as we use uranium and plutonium isotopes for energy now but, with a fraction of the cost and risk. The scientific implications of helium-3 are astounding. Can you imagine a "natural gas" such as carbon based natural gas we use today, but with energy yields thousands of times more than carbon based natural gas?

If there is water on the moon then we can use this water to sustain a scientific exploration of the moon without needing to carry large amounts of water on a space shuttle. Why explore the moon? Because the moon has large amounts of an isotope of Helium called Helium-3. What is so great about Helium 3? This isotope of helium can be used as a source of energy the same way we use isotopes of uranium and plutonium in nuclear reactors today, but with a fraction of the risks and cost. SCIENCE!

It could be hallow, or it could be composed of explosive elements. Nobody will know what will happen until its done.
