The thing is, IRV helps everyone across the whole political spectrum. I'm sure that everyone would be a bit more radical on their positions if they could do so without stealing from the more moderate proponents of their ideas. You could vote for the third party candidate who wants America sit at the top of the world and let you have all of your weapons, whereas a moderate conservative might not be able to get that done.
