  • only thing wrong with it is that madame giry is talking to her daughter, telling her that "He will Burn you with the heat of his eyes!" just sounds a little cruel to say to your daughter..

  • @TheTitanic4 true but this is coming from the same woman who told her daughter along with an entire group of ballerinas that they were a disgrace. hahaha

  • best improv ever!!

  • ha ha, this is awesome! Actually, it could work because in Vegas i don't think they even have the song Magical Lasso, but they actually show bouquet getting hanged :-P

  • Brava!!!

  • I bet the people who had never seen the show thought that it was normal! She did a great job improvising that part.

  • What a save! Brava Meg!

  • WOW. They handled that so well!

  • This is an Improv WIN.

  • Is it just more or does the ending where she shows up and finds the mask make better sense now?

  • I LOVE how Meg/Heather rises up onto her pointes for a second, and twirls about a bit in excitement. She's just so cute ^-^

  • Gooooooooood, goooooooooooood improv!!!

  • This Meg Giry is AWESOME. What a pro. :)

  • That was brilliant, really professional.. But poor Buquet, he got hung anyway even when he said nothing

  • I love how she just jumps up when she see's there is no actor there! Brilliant!

  • Genuis! That was so well done!

  • Wow, that's impressive improv. Go Heather McFadden!

  • Meg Giry does a better job than Joseph Buguet. She improvised so well. The Phantom seems to be the one show that does not actually stop for laughs during mishaps. Instead, they are corrected like dovetailing. Brilliant.

  • Oops the Phantom must've killed Joseph a little bit early....

  • When I saw the show in London back when Ramin was still there, that scene was sort of similar. Although, the girls just sat there, music played, nothing happened and on a cue all the girls jumped up and left the stage. No Buquet, no Mme. Giry. It was pretty funny if you knew the show, kinda pointless if you didn't. :D

  • After being Buquet in my high school production of POTO; how in the world would this actor not make it on stage??? We're only on there twice for Pete's sake!

  • Who were the Phantom and Christine that night?

  • @AngelofMusic902 Gary Mauer and Jennifer Hope Wills.

  • What was the blooper? ._.

  • Wow, believe it or not, the scene actually works quite well this way. Although, the foreshadowing for Buquet's death is now gone. What's funny is that it seems the actor became the character because Buquet is rather lazy and careless.

  • This reminds me so much of the opening scene of the Leroux, with Little Jammes telling the rest of the girls all about O.G. and a certain little Miss Giry piping up that Joseph Buquet would do well to hold his tongue...

Suddenly the musical is just THAT much more like the novel... ;-)

  • Ha ha...stupid Buquet.

  • Oh wow, that Buquet must've been fiiiiired

  • Meg is so adorable!

  • FAIL!!!!!! buquet always sleeping on the job

  • Confession: I have no idea what the blooper was. :p

  • @CherishBearish7 REALLY! THAT'S SO COOL I DIDNT KNOW THAT!! oh wait yes i did! i know that this video isn't what useually happens. in the stage version....like the movie Buquet does this part.

  • @CherishBearish7 your talking about Buquet he usally sings this in the bway show to but if u read the disctiption box you would know that it said:

A blooper scene from the Broadway production in which the actor playing Buquet does not come onstage, with Heather McFadden as Meg and Sally Williams as Mme. Giry.

so please next time read the desciption box before commenting

  • A lot of people say that Buquet's death doesn't make sense if he doesn't perform this song. As long as you see the shadowy silhouettes of him and the Phantom fighting during the ballet in Il Muto, people who haven't seen the show before could just think that Buquet was trying to catch the Phantom.

Now that I think of it, Heather covered for Madame Giry when I first went to see the show - she was the one who volunteered Christine for the lead in 'Hannibal'. And I didn't know until later...

  • @CoralBR98 Actually in the play Meg is the one who says "Christine Daae can sing it, sir." only in the movie does Madame Giry say it.

  • @eliask93

    Ahhh, I see.

I haven't seen the stage show in quite a bit, but I've watched the film a couple of times (although it is nowhere near as good.) Thank you.

  • lol i love how she goes en pointe for a second... 0:08

  • hmm i wonder if buquet came back saying "As god as my witness i was not at my post...."

  • this is funny an some grate improvising..good job

  • Wait, so...does this mean the Phantom kills Buquet for no reason? (In this particular show anyway.) :P

That's really weird...wonder why he didn't show up?

  • "HEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!" -eyeballs popping out-

  • Omg I wonder where Buqet was! That probably did not end well when the manegers found out... Great job to meg and Mme.Giry!

  • One of my friends saw Phantom on Broadway, and the chandelier didn't fall, so all of the actors reacted to a chandelier falling on stage when nothing was happening.

  • I LOVE LIVE THEATER!!!

  • @mrneuvayork Another reason theatre is a lot better than movies!!

  • That is the only Phantom of the Opera stage blooper I have EVER seen, like most of the bloopers are in Wicked for instance, where much of Popular is improve, and when things go wrong,it makes the show even funnier, but in PotO hey have to make it like it was meant to be that way, it is kinda wierd, but I Heather had fun doing that! But I wonder were the actor playing Buguet was...

I can just see this dude eating a muffin back stage and then realizing he was absent and saying "Oh Shoot!"

  • Amazing!!!

I just wanna know what they did at the scene that Buquet dies!

  • This was absolutely amazing

  • Do you have the full show?

She did such a great job covering it all up!

  • Where was Joseph Buquet who was supposed to do this?

  • @RosesNightengales

probably peeping into the ladies' dressing room backstage...

nah,he probably just missed his cue. it happens all the time, professional or not. and when it does those onstage are in a tight spot for a moment, and then just go with the flow....and then you can laugh about it later! like they did here!

  • @VictoriatheNomad I agree. If you even miss a few seconds off your cue, it can be deadly to the audience....and the fate of the show. Coming on later than sooner also, though it sounds right, does nothing but make the house suspicious.

Meg, Madame Giry, and the ballet dancers all did very good here, and they will most surely laugh about it later, probably while cursing the name of Joseph Buquet under their breath. ;)

  • Major respect for Heather. She knew EXACTLY what to do. She realizes the lights are going up and Buquet isn't there and immediately pops up to do what he was supposed to. I guarantee at least 95 percent of that audience didn't even know anything was wrong.

  • Ha ha...great job covering that up. That was very professional of her. I've said many times that the thing about being professional is not that you never mess up, it's that you are quick to think to cover it up. :)

  • It's a good thing Heather got into the scene so quickly. I know, as a drama geek, people sometimes freak out whenever they don't see an actor come on stage when they're supposed to (even though it looks dark on stage, the actors can see everything). Good job to the actors who handled it so well!

  • oh,this is really good, it makes me wish it was like this all the time.

  • If you'd never seen the show before, you wouldn't know anything had gone wrong.

  • wow! if you hadnt seen the show before, you wudnt think it to be a mess up, she did really good at handling that!

  • Thats amazing. She knew exactly what to do.

  • That was amazing! It felt SO awkward when she said "Meg Giry, hold your tongue"; she obviously did a great job with it, but I was so nervous knowing those aren't the right words/syllables and she had to adapt it. This is great!

  • Meg = EPIC WIN

  • i love how the awesome actors and actresses just roll with the punches when things don't go right... :D

  • I've never seen this show. You know they did a good job because I could see absolutely nothing wrong with this scene. How was it supposed to play out? (I mean, what would have happened if Buquet had come onstage?)

  • @genungapearl Buquet basically would've said the lines Meg said in this video, and Mme. Giry would say "Joseph Buquet hold your tongue" etc.

  • @genungapearl yeah, what DarthxErik said. The important part is that later Buquet gets killed by the Phantom for knowing/saying too much, so that probably didn't make any sense that day. Oh, the joys of live theatre! ^_^

  • @th34terISmYlif3 well. untill you said that, i always thought Erik just killed Buquet becuase he was in the rafters and the people in the show didnt listen to him so he killed the guy and sent him on stage.

  • @genungapearl Pretty much exactly what meg did. Except she mimed having a lasso. He would of had a real one.

  • I saw her on Broadway! She was amazing! She is such a talented actress, she just demanded my attention! :)

  • looks like the phantom got to buquet early this time. =) beautiful job, Heather!

  • @Rachtheangel LOL!

  • Respect, what a quick reaction... I wouldn't even have realised what the hell was going on in that short time-span lol

  • kudos to meg and mme. giry for the quick improv, meg actually did really good considering she isnt the one that sings this. :)

  • Wow. Oh my god. That is so... epic. I wish I could do that. Such a good save by BOTH. Does anyone know how "Buquet" was punnished if he was? Was he okay? Why did he miss it? ...? Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh such a good save. I would not have thought to do that.

  • Most people don't really understand how hard it is to be on stage, you must know each other's lines as best as you can, and always be prepared to go improv.

  • I wonder what did they do with il muto, when Buquet died??

  • did she say...magical assshole???

  • @bobbymcnasty no, but I'm pretty sure that's what the managers thought of the Phantom, lol.

  • I was there.. .she was freaken AWESOME.

  • great way to keep the show going

  • this is such a good cover,

I guess it REALLY IS important to konw others lines! lol, Heather did a great job, im sure she just did it on the spot to!

  • @Peadarisback

    ahaha. that was really funny!!

  • Wow, that was such a good cover by Meg, and then by Mme. Giry! They just took it all in stride and covered really well!

  • damn.......SO professional. Even the Mme. Giry adapted to that nicely.

  • i wounder if the guy playing Buqet got fired for missing his Q

  • haha, this is hilarious. such a contrast between a burly french-man and a young ballerina doing this part.

  • Absolutely brilliant. Good cover!

  • Yea i've never seen the show and It didn't seem like anything happened

  • My friend saw a blooper at phantom once where the trap door at the end didn't work. It was an understudy and his mic was still on and everybody heard him whispering: Don't lift it, I'm still here

  • @phantomrox87

I know what u r talking about. Search for a video called "Hugh Panaro discusses a Phantom mishap"

  • way to go, Meg!

  • that's just another part of what makes it awesome.

  • That's true! Hopefully phans of the book were in the audience that night! I wonder what happened to Buquet's actor...

  • That is cool. It actually looks better than with the original guy singing it. It's so Meg and MMe Giry :D

  • Wow, what a great cover up!

  • Wow this is an awesome cover up!! Those guys are great!!

  • i applaud the actresses for covering this up so well

  • oh cool! That would make sense!!! Thanks! It looked really neat on stage though and it looked like he had marni (christine hiding in his cape though! Awesome though! Thanks again!

  • She rocked with that cover "Meg Giry" line

  • nicely done! When i saw this on broadway in august I for the first time i noticed when the girls ran off stage at the end of this the phantom ran across stage w/ christine behind the girls!! Does anyone know if that was supposed to happen or did I see my first blooper??!!

  • No, that's not a blooper. The girls run about because they see them.

  • you can see that the ballett girls first all sit down ,m meg, too

but then the light gos on and they improvsate fast

  • i hate this bouquet but

this improvisation is better than nothing

  • Many props to Heather McFadden for stepping up and doing the scene! It really goes to show you how well a true actor needs to be able to improvise.

I'll never forget watching the elevator malfunction as Faust descended into hell, jerking to a stop and starting upward again. Instead of continuing with the scrpit, the actor sang: "Damn! Hell is full!"

  • @MissLuxa Extremely clever of him XD

  • I wonder where was Buquet....

  • it happens sometimes. ive done shows where entire scenes were skipped just cause someone missed their cue. they played it off very well though! people who were not familiar with the play wouldn't have known any difference.

  • The ladies handled that very well! I wonder what happened to Buquet.

some princess: Oh, he was a bore anyway

Me: Stop looking at yourself! *throws hand mirror*

  • One of my friends saw an interesting blooper when he saw this show once...the trap door at the end did not work so when meg came on stage at the end the phantom was sitting in the chair rather than just his mask and it ended with the two of them touching hands.

  • I actually kinda like this. It reminds me of how in the original book Meg and the other ballet rats sit around telling each other ghost stories about the Phantom.

  • This is a good improvisation. I like how she stood on point at the emphasizing.

Meg's the part I might audition for when I get a chance.

  • Meg isn't meant to be telling them the tale, it should be Josef Buquet, who didnt come on stage in time it seems.

  • I wonder what happened to Buquet. I bet he got in MAJOR trouble!

  • I bet he missed his cue. I've heard that's happened.

  • Possibly, but he should've known at least when his SCENE was coming up and been ready in the wings.

  • Some get sidetracked and other stuff and somehow miss it. (don't ask me how)

  • yeah, he's hardly in the show as it is.

  • yeah! if it was me, though I don't have the right voice type (I think I'm a baritone at best) and anyway i'd sooner be the phantom, I'd be right there! shame on him!

  • true...when I saw cats for the first time...the cat Sillabub touched grizabell first after the song memory but it is usually victoria (who was played by an understudy that day)so I think it was improv

  • It works incredibly well, doesn't it?

  • I love how they all improvise so well and nobody lets on there was a messup

I also love how Meg goes on point when the girls scream haha

  • Very well done improvisation!

  • I bet the Buquet guy was either fired or received a pay cut

  • FANTASTIC improv! Wish I could've been there!

  • Wow, props for Heather! She handled that so well! Even emphasized in all the correct places. Must have been an awkward moment when everyone first realized Buquet was absent... But then BAM!

    I always did like Meg...

  • it would have flowed better if she sang megan giry

  • I suppose, but in French "Meg" is short for Marguerite...

  • wow thats really professional! That must have been really scary to sing something that you've never sung before to a live audience! very good thinking Heather!

  • I love how she squealed after each line. Very Meg-like.

  • Kudos to Meg! That would have been scary.

  • yeah, i noticed that, too, but all the plays seem to say 'he will burn you with the heat of his eyes' now.

  • Best blooper: in the Aussie production (when it moved overseas for a season in NZ) the boat stalled during PotO and the Phantom/Christine had to walk across the lake. A few scenes later, during AIAoY there was a massive power surge and all the lights, mics etc. died. Christine and Raoul glanced at each other and just walked off stage. XD

  • i would love to see that! do you happen to have the link? or know where I can find it?

  • As far as I know, it wasn't recorded. I was at the show. Sorry to disappoint. ^.^"

  • I wonder what was wrong with the actor that played Joseph Buquet?

  • Love it

  • Betrayed by her own mother *tsk tsk*

    But brilliant!

In fact, I think they should use meg instead of Buquet!

  • there is another blooper with the essen production where the backdrop doesnt fall in carlottas think of me

  • Great improving! I bet most of the audience didn't even notice it. You would have never had known if this was the first time seeing the musical.

  • that was a nice save!

  • I think there's another blooper where the phantom didn't disappear at the end like he is supposed to so Meg (I don't remember which actress) picks up the veil instead of ripping the cape away to reveal the mask...cuz the Phantom would still be sitting in his chair. Awk. LOL

  • Well I don't know anything about Phantom of the opera and I didn't saw anything gone wrong ;D So this is really professional! But what was Miss Giry (the old one) supposed to say?

  • it was supposed to be a man that told the story that meg giry told. then madam giry was supposed to sing "those who speak of what they know, find too late that prudent silence is wise. Joseph Bouquet hold your tongue. Keep your hand at the level of your eyes." Because, later, the phantom hangs Joseph with his lasso in the middle of an opera.

    =]

    hope this helps.

    haha

  • Wow! I didn't even see a mistake!

  • clever. clever. bravo.

  • that was actually really great improv. if you didnt know anything about the show you would have thought that was how it was supposed to be. why didnt Buquet come on stage?

  • what musical is this

  • What musical is THIS?! It's the Phantom of the Opera for god's sake!

  • the phantom of the opera, of course!

  • That was a great improv. I love this musical I have seen it twice and that is why I love live theater. Some of my favorite scenes were actually bloopers.

  • Oh my gosh! Heather Mcfadden is amazing! Can I trade you for this?????

  • LOL!!! can't imagine how they would do afterwards at Il Muto...XD" Meg died but still dancing as well!" LOL

  • That must've been some really fast thinking!!!

Props to the girl who plays Meg!

  • how awkward would it be if meg ended up hanging from the rafters later...

  • jajaja it would have been very weird jaja, but it was an amazing improv, and i so love the phantom

  • I like it this way. It reminds of the scene in the book with the ballet girls in Sorelli's dressing-room.

  • lol!!!

  • What went wrong?

  • in this song, the part the girl just sang is normally performed by a guy actor. The actor who is supposed to sing that part didn't make it onstage, so the actress playing Meg improvised as well as Mme. Giry

  • i guy was supposed to come on stage and sing the magical lasso song but he didn't so someone else did it instead

  • i wonder what happened later, because the scene where buquet dies won't make sense...

  • the playing Buquet might have had an accident with the costume. They say that if you have a mishap with your costume, your not suppose to go on stage cuz the audience will know. but i agree with most of you, i think Meg should do it other than him.

  • how stupid

  • thats why u need to know everyones lines

  • That was actually very well handled! I wonder where Josef was, perhaps on the toilet! lol

  • LOL it got stuck? XD... I hope they got it working again by the end.

  • I wonder why she is doing this part? Did the guy who was supposed to disappear? XD She did it perfectly though and was kind of cute.

  • Done like real perfessional! damn i would love to sea a real mistake like that live! if you saw that for the first time with no knowlage of the CD you never know! too bad many many people do know! haha

  • Yay for improv!

  • very well handled

  • Wow, the joys of live theater. Well done to all the actresses for thinking quickly.
