ok..so I was at a gay bar...this guy was DANCING..I mean..REALLY dancing..he didn't look like a twink..so I asked..'you 35 or older?"..that just stunned him? huh? Yes..I am.. I just poked him in the chest.. "when you was 8..you were watching tv every sunday night..WISHING to be a SOLID GOLD DANCER!!!"...lol..we laughed too hard!
Thanks for reading..hope you laugh.. I miss this..:)
I use to watch this show every time it came on! Darcel Wynn, Cooley Jackson & Mark Sellers were my fav dancers! I remember Mark Sellers before S.G...he & his sister (Laura) were contestants in the dance category on Star Search. Somehow he made it and she didn't.
I loved this group of dancers. Jamilah was the first black woman that I fell in love with, she's sexier and a better dancer than Darcel. Beverly was an instant hit with me. Lezlie has to be one of Solid Gold's weakest dancers, she's just not as flexible and versatile as the others. I'm glad Rick Dees didn't last as host. Dionne and Marilyn were so much classier.
you could tell, these were shows at the beginning of the season, the dancers were just in sync....i agree with ronafer69, i only have a few from 85, then 86, 87 and 88.....would love for it to be released on dvd.....
I totally forgot that Rick Dees would try to bust a move with the dancers every week...lol. I also remember when the Mary Jane Girls performed "In My House," on the show, he was out there with them, doing part of their choreography.
Actually, I think Rick Dees was horny for the dancers since he always made comments about them like wow, they take their vitamins...hmmmmm, I wondered if he ever tapped any of that back in the day ?
Wake me up before you Go-Go! ARG!!!! :P..Did not like the disco era:(
