Yes it is, it is the Nuance Vocalizer. The voice's name is Samantha.

It looks as if there's some kind of special connector slot between the AC Adaptor port and the USB port? Have you ever used any of the PlexTalk desktop products, such as the PTR-1 or the PTR-2.

Nope. I haven't used any of their desktop products. I have seen, in diagrams, that the interface between the Pocket and the desktop players is via USB though.

That's quite an attractive device, I have the VR Stream, which is quite simillar to the PlexTalk, but it's also quite different at the same time. I have the PlexTalk PTN1, so I have some idea of the PlexTalk range of products. Are the buttons on the unit made of rubber as they are on the PlexTalk desktop products? The unit gave you lots of information when you pressed the information button, can you scroll through the information items to find out what you want to hear?

You can press the 5 key multiple times to cycle through the information sequence and press the menu key at any time to cancel the reading (I think the star key may also work). The keys on the Pocket are plastic.
