The Secret On Oprah and CBS Local News Coverage

I have some honest questions here.

Beethoven was a sad and angry man. He thought about and wrote music about a lot of angry things. He was forever single despite passionate interest in a number of women. How do we know he used the "secret" and how did he make it work for him?

Lincoln was assassinated. Did he accidentally visualize something that attracted that event to him?

Typically, I tend to delete any comments referencing religion so as not to get into these useless battles. I thought I'd give it a try and it's probably not going to work out. The bottom line is that The Secret made no reference to the Bible or religion because it would limit their marketing demographic and they wouldn't have captured as much profit as they did. The simple fact is that The Secret's producers and cast are ALL ABOUT MONEY. Yes, I've quite changed my tune since this news broadcast

I do not understand why people who consider themselves religious, need to put this on everyone else??? Religion is a crutch for those wanting to feel there is a purpose to life and feel a sense of connection and community with others. While Im on the subject, the Bible was written by political/religious, writers/journalists of the time. 'God' didnt write a word and the Bible is no more important or legitimate than 'The Secret' book. So leave everyone to their own crutch, whatever that may be.

I think thoughts interact with reality but we are not in control of absolutely every single thing. So yeah every once in a while bad thigns happen to you for no reason. But try to focus on the positive.

I'd like to add that "The Secret" can be a very dangeous concept. A representative for "The Secret" was on Larry King saying that a murdered child may have brought her murder on herself.

Positive thinking and goal setting is nothing new; you can read about that in the majority of self-help books.

its a question of positive perspective and willingness to WORK towards the things you focus on. A CONSERTED effort. Thats the main objective, not just think what you want for it to fall in your lap. Get Out there, figure out what you want, experience ups and downs...learn, grow, and adapt a positive outlook to your self and the world around you.

All I was saying is that poverty is incredibly spreaded and it would take more than just a positive outlook, "Ï want shelter for the poor"etc to solve it. Certainly it might help, but is ridiculous to think that that alone would "change the face of poverty".

If any thing positive SOLUTION must be put in to play...planning and understanding of the issue inorder to make a change.

But it just basically means we can't complain if we're focussing our energy on the things we don't want. Poverty for example we can literally think good things into existence for the poverty stricken. That's reality speaking. It's not so much saying I don't poor people to live poor anymore, I don't Aid Victims in Africa to die anymore, the Secret says, I want there to be a cure for aids, I want shelter for the poor, Orphans with a caring loving family.

The Secret says that by putting all your energy into what you want will literally bring into existence that very wish. Putting energy into what it is about poverty that you DON'T want well that's going to bring more of what you don't want into existence. It doesn't go to show that we as humans are not understanding or compassionate of the issue...

The secret basically can solve all your problems once you've read the book. It has for me. And yes you can "think things away" Poverty being thought away was never a statement made in the book however...

The secret is used not to solve all your problems but is there to allow for a positive outlook which in turn will help you to make good choices in life. It is merly a tool and one can use it contructively depending on how commited he is. Obviousely, it is not a cure for poverty. those problems have exstended over many generations, and, a sollution must be found through understanding and solving the issue ( a process)not by "thinking it away".

I do agree with The secret, howerever, I found them irresponsible in the way they simplified every thing, and also how they didn't take in to account "trauma affect" or a healing process. "happiness is a journey, not a destination"

"letting go of all desire is true happiness" being in the present with out preconceptions of the past or future, give's a person the innitiative he needs to fully apreciate life and it's potensial.

( I think) self love and acceptance is the most important thing, and all THINGS we crave are reflections or symbols of us not being fully at peace with ourselves.
