  • That must be terrifying to drive with such power. I love it when a car is modified properly like yours, very tasteful. The only thing I wouldn't be using is that air filter near a turbo!!! Mesh & Oil types have a tiny surface area compared to paper ones and restrict flow. The holes need to be 10+ times bigger than a paper one, so they allow dirt in to sandblast your turbo and engine. On mine a K&N caused pitting, scoring and the oil broke the MAF sensor, so it went in the bin! (not on a VW!)

  • Poobs2 check out my video of my 69 vw. I had a garret gt25 and sidedraft webber on my old 1776 motor - it worked well...I later upgraded the motor2 2007cc that same combo works on the stock 1600 dual port as well. Turbo city used to sell a complete kit with the same gt25 and side draft webber and header for around 2 grand (US) they called it the rapid response kit. Only other thing you need is kennedy upgraded clutch electronic fuel pump and dune buggy (longer) throttle cable. Hope that helps.

  • @weirdnessbeardness Going Turbo on a stock engine is a big NO NO! but in a nut shell you need everything hardened (internally) to cope with the extra heat and power as with gearbox transmission and of course what i completely forgot about, the shafts! i added racing half shafts, you then have to fit better brakes i have Porsche 911s

so a quick way is add twin webbers (34's i think?)

    009 dizzy with petronix ignition

    low geared transmission

check out Vzi on the net

    these guys can help more

  • @lilsdon i understand and agree with you for the most part. I ran a garret gt25 turbo with side draft weber on a big piston (realively stock- ie non built) 1776 that had a engle 110 cam and that's it. I ran it for over a year and keep revs below 5 grand to perserve the motor. I had no prob's and as far as I knew the motor already had at least 20k miles on it and was down on compression. Turbo city out of california (usa) used to sell a turbo kit that was for stock 1600cc motors.. Be well.

  • i have a stock 69 bug and i have been rebuilding the car... i really want to give the car more punch not really a racing car but enough power to blow away ppl at stoplights lol. me and my friend were thinking about going turbo... the engine is completely stock whats a good way to get my bhp up on my bug pls respond thx
