  • I remember seeing this back in the late 90s.

  • 3 people found the customary gruel sufficient

  • I remember watching this commercial when I would go over to my grandma's house. I would lay on my pallet in her playroom and watch this at night , always got me excited for Christmas. ^_^ Merry Christmas everyone!

  • I just realized something: It took 3 christmas ghosts in the original story to get Scrooge in the spirit of Christmas; wherest to took only 1 (count it, "1") bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios to do it in this commercial (and in less than a night). Kind of gives you the impression of the power of a good breakfast.

  • this commercial right here puts me in the christmas spirit

  • looks like 3 people said no to Honey Nut Cheerios.

  • I really love this cereal because it is good 4 strong, healthy kids!! Best with Low-fat-, or SOY milk. Thanxxx boyz n' gurrlzzzz!!!

  • I Saw This On WGN On November 23,2003

  • I prefer this one over the original to be honest.

  • im eating honey nut cheerios while watching this (:

  • The voice of 'Fry' from the TV Show Futurama is also the voice of the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee.

  • I know it's early but i waiting od badly for christmas 2011 omg Imma go home with my now wife :D havent been back in ny for lease 3 years

  • This is my favorite commercial from Christmas! :-) Thank you for posting! :-)

  • good commercial, but i cant help but think: if they tossed in michael caine and a few muppets, they would have had one of the most epic commercials of all time.

thumbs up if you agree xD

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  • i hated how they replaced the original with this. but...its still good...and classic

  • Screw it. haha Just type in original christmas cheerios commercial and you will see what I am talking about from two comments below. Sorry for the large sums of crap I just typed. :-)

  • EVERBODY!!!!! This was the so called "remake" of the original. Here's the original Cheerios commercial. Notice the difference in his voice, and the music is better at the end. It's a remake because of instead of saying "Christmas", he says "the holidays". If you ask me, political correctness can go "F" itself!!!

  • @murkan14 It won't let me post a link, so copy paste this --> /watch?v=c-9T9tR0Rzg in front of youtube.com

  • Best Christmas commercial ever

  • who's the asshole who voted against this? he must be a asshole.

  • @NYFranc260: That asshole must have said "no" to Honey Nut Cheerios.

  • @jemerson722 lol, good one

  • I remember this I loved it than and I still love it now.

  • I remember this one still airing well into January.

  • eating honey nut cheerios right now... I remember this commerical! I loved when it played during Christmas :)

    why'd they take it down??

  • geez, i forgot about this one... WHY'D THEY STOP AIRING THIS?!

  • this stoped playing at x-mass in 2007

  • Albeatz: This Version is Whaaaaack!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i want christmas to come now!!!

  • the comercial and the cerial itself was better in the mid 90's i was only 7 back then and even i know this smh

  • wow....

  • Watching this is like wrapping up in a warm blanket and drinking hot chocolate. I know it's still August, but I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

  • now all the bee talks about is lowering cholestoral and shit

  • i feel old now...I remember this commercial

  • I miss the good old commercials for honey nut cheerios with the cute cartoon bee... now they have a 3-D/2-D odd bee called "The honey defender" Who wastes more honey than he is supposedly saving, and the cheerios no longer taste as good as before, ether no honey, but cardboard, or no nuts, but cardboard soaked in honey. Quite saddening :(

  • I have to day i don't really taste any nut flavor in honey nut cheerios. I certainly taste honey but no nuts.....they could probably take the nuts out and it would taste exactly the same.

  • I remember this commercial!

  • i wish at times during the holidays today, they show this

  • to quote the Nostalgia Critic

"Did you say hookers and blow?...oh no...you said honey and nuts...that's not nearly...as good"

  • i member this!!!

  • you're a member in the Honey Nut Cheerios?

  • you have no vagina. Fail attempt at making me view your channel.

  • okay?

  • Did you say honey and nuts???? ha ha ha

  • oh brings back good memories when I actually loved christmas. Always brought a smile to my face and got me excited that christmas was getting closer.

  • Too bad this commercial was made P.C. The original is superior.

  • scrooch screwed scrooch

  • 10 Days till Christmas.

  • they need to put this video on tv now - screw reality tv shows

  • fuckin great

  • Still makes me cry, I love this commerical, been a long time since I have seen it, General Mills should put it back on the air

  • What colour is that bees eyes.

  • When ever I watched this commercial back in the day I knew I would be having two weeks of non stop Nintendo.

  • is it weird that this commercial made me cry when i was 5?

  • No, but were you crying because it is heartwarming or because Scrooge freaked you out?

  • Why the thumbs down? It's true! It's saddening.

  • It's all about JESUS. Not Screwch or Santa

  • Scrooge. not Screwch. But I agree. Although just because they got the meaning of the season wrong doesnt make it a bad commercial IMO.

  • who was that man?

  • Oh wow! This one really brings back the memories :)

  • Thank you Mr. NC wannabe.

Seriously though, that was a pretty funny part of the countdown. It seems that everytime I look up the movie/show from the latest Nostalgia Critic, there's several others who've already watched the same video for the same reason.

Though in my opinion, Buzz isn't really that memorable of a character. The only thing I'd change about that countdown is to replace Buzz with Snap, Crackle, and Pop. Always seemed like stronger characters, and catchier too.

  • Gave me goosebumps watching it. Its been awhile, soo many memories of the best time, the 90s.

  • i just wanna cry everytime i see this commercial. makes me excited about christmas!

  • Oh, brings me right back to my childhood. They used to play this every Christmas, now they don't do it anymore :(

  • ohh love it !

  • this brings back childhood memories

  • Yeah, this one still plays @ Christmas.

  • lol

  • It wasn't the toys that made Christmas great, it was commercials like this, and the Christmas shows.

  • The original is better.

  • what happens in the original?

  • They say "Merry Christmas" as opposed to the more p.c. "Happy Holidays"

  • ah the good ol days..

  • I love the part about the gruel!

  • They use to play this every christmas. Now they don't do it anymore. Shame.

  • lol i think this one's pretty good

they didn't play it once this christmas

i guess theyre putting this one in the vault...:[

  • this is alright, but i like the original one a little better.

  • lol im a little upset

i haven't seen any good xmas commercials other than the m&m's one and the hershey kisses one

  • *LOL!*

  • Reminds me of my childhood :)

  • Yay!

  • "Happy Holidays, Mr. Scrooge."

    Classic commercial.

  • I like 00:25 of the video.

  • This commerical was so cute. I love Honey Nut Cheerios.

  • yeah just how cheerios made scrooge become good just makes me feel warm inside.

  • Does anybody know where you could find the ORIGINAL 80's version of this commercial? I Googled all kinds of variations, but all video links are to this revised "politically correct"/updated slogan revision from the 90's. == The original was longer, Scrooge spoke slower, the bee said "it's Christmas" rather than "it's the holidays", the choir at the end sang "it's a honey of an 'O'" rather than "nobody can say no", and the bee and cereal box were also different. Thanks!

  • I know what you mean, I liked the old commercial too. I also like this version as well. The 80s and 90s versions are both perfect.

  • Fuck yeah, best cereal ever.

Classic commercial with a capital c.

  • Ocarina... he says , "The customary gruel will suffice Thank you"

  • Thanks!

  • I listened at least 20 times and I still can NOT figure out what he says at 00:11 in the video. What did he say?

  • "My customary gruel will suffice, thank you!"

  • My custardberry groove was advice, thank you.

    lol.

  • its ''will suffice'' but whatever :]]

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • Don't even get me started on the politically correct crap. Do you know when the original was changed by chance?

  • I have no idea!

  • omg i remember this commercial ah the good ol days lol

  • i remember this one

  • still love this commercial. Odd how a commerical for a cereal has a very good christmas feel to it. ( especially when the choir comes in at the end )

  • Aw, I guess the original 80's version is lost to time. They re-dubbed out the Bee's original voice actor, Arnold Stang, changed the 'Christmas' line to 'Holidays', and changed the jingle from the original 'It's a honey of an O', to the '90s 'Nobody can say no'.

I do wish I could see the original version again.

  • Really? This still runs every Christmas? The last time I saw this commercial was in November 1999 (It was very close to December) and I was nine years old. I thought I'd never find this!. Thanks!

  • I like the original version more...it has more emotion in it. lol.

  • I don't know but when screwg smile it made me fell warm inside like good can come from anybody.

  • Same here!

  • This is the politically correct version. In the original they actually say "Christmas." Believe it or not you could get away with that back then.

  • they still get away with a lot. i mean, the commercial shows a jewish banker being converted to christianity by eating honey nut cheerios. you can never get away with that today, now the PC police call it "anti-semitism".

  • adamn: No it doesn't. The commercial is showing Ebeneezer Scrooge caving in to the taste of the cereal, proving that "nobody can say no" to that "honey of an O" in Honey Nut Cheerios.

  • then why did they make him jewish?

also, the cereal is obviously a christmas gift, as he says "happy holidays" after (he sure as hell aint talking about yom kippur), which is a time-tested technique that missionaries use to get people to convert. they do the same thing in africa - give food to starving people, then tell them theyre now obligated to jesus!

sorry mr.bee, the cereal might be sweet but that anti-semitism really "stung". after the holocaust, youd think theyd be more sensitive!

  • adamn: They didn't MAKE him Jewish. They just chose somebody to play the role of Scrooge. And the original non-PC version of this commercial said "Christmas", which in fact, does mean that this is a commercial geared towards the American (or anybody who believes in Christmas) populous.

  • are you saying that being american means you should believe in christmas? that's not only anti-semitic, but offensive to all the buddhists, hindus, muslims, sikhs, wiccans, athiests, and practitioners of indigenous faiths who also reside in america. wow, i've never met someone who hated so many people before.

btw, i was just testing you by sayinf that they made scrooge jewish. how would i know the ethnicity of the actor? you played right along though. you must think all jews are ugly.

  • adamn: I am not saying all Americans believe in Christmas. Far from it. But, the commercial was made in a time when Christianity was the predominant religion in the US. And FYI, most other religions believe in some form of God. It is merely whether Jesus is the Son of God or a mere prophet that the respective religions disagree on. Plus, I don't hate anybody just 'cause they believe something different than I do. In fact, I embrace their differences and receive them with open arms.

  • Besides, this is just a holiday-driven commercial promoting cereal. It is not meant to have any hidden connotation. People like you over-analyze things WAY too much, in all honesty.

  • Heck, respecting others regardless of race, gender, & lifestyle choice (which includes sexual orientation or any other way one lives life) is one of the values I still greatly adhere to. Some of what I am a fan of helped me to respect others (ex: Henson's work, especially Fraggle Rock, whose different societies--Fraggle, Gorg, Doozer, & we human "Silly Creatures"--worked together in harmony).

    *Dance your cares away

    Worries for another day

    Let the music play

    Down at Fraggle Rock*

  • I loved the Christmas Carol, so I always liked this commercial as a kid! I thought I'd never watch it again. Thanks for posting it!

  • i love this commercial. it's one of my favorite christmas commercials ever!!!!!!! brings back lots of old memories as a kid. i miss the classic christmas......

  • He's my Grandad!!!

  • omg... I had the jingle at the end on my mind for like 5 years THANK YOU YOUTUBE!!!!

  • lol omg i sooo remember this commercial

  • This commercial always gave me such a great feeling inside. Anytime I saw it around christmas time it always put a smile on my face. And it still does.

  • pittsburghbuz, even though I didn't know your uncle, I just adore this commercial. This commercial is part of my childhood, and I'm sure that Will was a great man. I thank him for this commercial. Merry Christmas to all.

  • The actor playing Scrooge is the late William Gavin, also well-known play writer in England. Whom I had the privilege to have as an uncle.

  • You're kidding!

  • tats kool! im related to someone like that and hes my great great great great grandpapa of my grandpa's side ^^

  • whoever that choir was, they were awesome!

  • I agree!

  • i miss this

i definitely remember this from when i was 5

    i'm 18 now

  • does anyone remember that really adorable cheerios commercial(not honey nut) that had the little baby boy and his grandma and at the end of it she pushes two cheerios together and says "but don't worry we'll always be together...for christmas"

  • I remember that commercial. WAAAAAAAAAAAY in Atlanta! Why is it my family all lives in one county here in Iowa but one family has like one in New York, one in Seattle, one in Key West, FL, one in Carroll, Iowa....man I would love that so it would give me an excues to travel lol!

  • Yup, I remember this one, as well. Pleasant memories of yesterday!

  • Yeah it still plays during X-mas (mainly on WB-channel 11) I always liked this commerical XD

  • this commercial warms my good heart

  • I remember this. Loved it

  • I'm sorry Billy West. You're great but this is the voice of the Bee that I grew up with.

  • Yeah. I've noticed the change. I read in wikipedia that he was originally voiced by the original Winnie-the-Pooh voice Sterling Holloway. Yet, he appeared in an ad with Pooh. I think Pooh was voiced by Jim Cummings there. So it would be like old Pooh, meeting new Pooh. I guess this isn't very relevant here, but I don't know if they have that other commercial up, so I just thought I'd point that out.

  • arnold stang is his name

  • Whenever I watch this commercial on here, I'll think of Michael Caine, who played Ebenezer Scrooge in The Muppet Christmas Carol! My dad even worked with Michael Caine! And in my opinion, Michael Caine is the best Scrooge!

  • the original version which only aired the first year sounds the best. once they altered the song & voices, it wasnt the same. wish they'd air it again though, it'd bring back great memories seeing it on t.v.

  • This doesn't air every christmas anymore. This last aired in 1999 from what I remember.

  • I remember this too. "They're Irresistible" isn't even their slogan anymore.

  • It was "they're irresistable", then "honey of an o", and next was "nobody can say no", and now it's "from the hive that's nuts about honey".

  • I remember this commercial when I a kid.

  • wow,i remember this commercial

  • I love how Scrooge smiles at the end!

  • I only remember this version!

  • I first saw this commercial in 1997. What year was it made?

  • Yeah I remember the old voices too! Still, either version, I love when the Bee tears up at the end. :)

  • I prefer the earlier version, with a different song singing "It's a honey of an O" and a different Scrooge voice. Still, it's great!

  • This commercial tears me up now a days remembering my past seeing these comemrcials as a kid. they they did change it from it' a honey of an O to nobody can say no...

  • But, in 2001, they went back to the old slogan again.
