Glad you had fun at the fair too. Hope my home movies brought back some memories. Too bad the technology of the day that I could afford limited me to mostly outdoor scenes.
I lived in Queens, so I got to go to the World's Fair a lot—I still remember how much my feet hurt from standing on line so much, but I'm glad I had learned to use an 8mm movie camera by the time I was 16, and got to shoot as much footage as I did. And editing it on a computer 45 years later, with all the old associations, really felt like I had traveled into the future.
I was in high school in Baltimore then. The senior class trip took us to Flushing Meadows, via train and bus. We were awed beyond description. My most lasting memory was of the underground Home of the Future, complete with phony scenery at the windows. As an adult I have longed for an underground abode--without the phony vistas. Some things just stay with us.
