  • Wow, youre really poetic in all your vlogs!

    Are they scripted?

I don't think I could come up with good stuff like that just off the top of my head!

    You're awesome.

    Epically awesome:D

  • you are bloody amazing.

  • Witty as always. I never went to the museum when I lived in NY and only went to time square 2 times. I agree the falls are beautiful the winters not so much for a tourist

  • This is ridiculously good.

  • beautiful.

I had chills the entire time :) thank you for being awesome

  • Ohh the metaphors!!!

  • Lol "Then a guy with a backparck walked through my living room."

  • I want to go to New York!

  • that was beautiful!!

  • soooooooooooooo good!

  • You words in this video are amazing. I've read that statement several times over and have decided to revise it. Your words in that video are amazing and poetic while this sentence sounds like English is not my first language. 

  • Made of awesome

  • Gréât vidoe ;)

  • Your New York videos are incredibly amazing. They're phrased so well and edited perfectly with what you're trying to say and convey! The videos also make me miss New York, extremely so.

  • you should be a writer :)

  • Elmify, you are awesome. That guy that dumped you must be insane!

  • ok, i need to go to new york now :)

  • @adamcbourke Exactly what I was thinking!! But I'm now convinced that if I go, I want to go in October!

  • Extremely well written and you remind me of why I love New York so much.

  • This is only the second video of yours I've seen. I have now subscribed to you. I think your demeanor is really great and I look forward to watching more of your vlogs!

  • Beautiful!

  • This was absolutely beautiful.

  • SPECTACULAR. I loved it. One of those times I wish there was a way I could "Super-Favorite" a video.

Also, the earrings you're wearing are super cute :)

  • Hey Elmify! Thanks for having my thoughts from places video as a vid response to yours! All the best, L

  • You sure seem to have a way with words

  • I've been to that mexican resturant! I know by the buffulo and indian lights! :O It was yum.

  • This may sound slightly creepy but I could listen to you talk all day.

  • "we take advantage of it hard"

hahaha you are brilliant, and i absolutely love your videos. thanks for always brightening up my day!

  • Looks like you were at the NY Hilton right?

But this is a great video. I really like the style and the way you talk about the city.

  • Wow... I got goosebumps.... :O

  • I could watch a feature length film in this format, seriously. Did not know this was in existence.

  • I ask once again is your friend sabrina pentecostal?

  • @PhotoFilmEffect Not that I know of...

  • Best video ever. Made my day. I loved it! Your narration was so beautiful and it was so personal and seemed so close to your heart. It made me love it too. Thanks for posting!

  • This trip was different, and, when I looked at the footage afterwards, it didn't seem to tell the same kind of story. I think that's because there was a different story that was told.

    THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

  • You're so amazing, and you're videos are soo.....AWESOME.

  • OMG: Best New-York-video ever! P.S.: Somehow you and your best friend look like sisters...

  • Jeeze i live in new york and i cant be as poetic as you about this.

  • Ah you make such lovely videos!

They really are, just... lovely :)

  • WOAH.Super lucky to catch that flight taking off! You're awesome.

  • You have some amazing talent for this kind of video. I hope you do more of them.

  • I've never been to New York and now I really wanna go. You are so great at narrating.

  • The way you speak makes me want to go read or learn, or be artistic or something. I LOVE IT.

  • Your dad wins.

  • I've been a fan for awhile, but this video was different. It was special and passionate and maybe my new favorite.

  • Epic monologue

  • Gah! This didnt show up in my subscription box!

  • "Then a guy with a backpack walked through my living room." Subscribed xD

  • Your college essays must have been amazing.

  • *sigh* lovely. (psst. John sent me, via Twitter)

  • Good GOD this was amazing.

  • At the end I was waiting for you to say "Hank, I'll see you on Monday"

  • @Silverballoons That would have been a cherry on top :)

  • Wow. Gorgeous video

  • I was in New York (city) from February 26th- March 4th... So many familiar sights! Beautiful video, beautiful footage. Bravo, Elmify!

  • whatever this format of video is, it deserves a name. like johngreenmonologuevideothingy. but more catchy.

  • @milowent I believe it has a name already, 'Thoughts from Places' :)

  • you are definitly the female version of john green. i cant decide if its a good thing or not. but i do like listening to people talking really fast.

  • Another thoughts from places?

    Geeze.

    Pass the tissues, alright?

  • Well done, Elmify. Always impressed.

  • I wonder id all those students who groan and roll their eyes at the idea of an essay assignment would change their mind if they were to see how wonderful an essay can be. The Thoughts from Places series does that. Yours gets an "A"!

  • I don't know if I'm just super emotional right now, but I was in tears by the end of this video. You're brilliant.

  • That's totally Rosa Mexicano guacamole! Best guacamole in the city, for sure.

Well done. It's easy to come to New York and love it when the weather is perfect or the thing you love is happening, but trekking down slushy-puddly-snowy streets for three months is what the rest of us do.

  • "NY in October is the NY of movies... but NY in February is the NY of New Yorkers." Well said!

  • John Green sent me here and this is absolutely beautiful. I'm not as big of a fan of NYC as you but I'm so glad I saw this. Will definitely check out more of your videos! :)

  • UGH!

As a New Yorker going to school far way from her home this was wonderful.

You hit the nail right on the head.

Since I grew up in Manhattan people always ask me what I look forward to most when I go home and it's lame but I look forward to sitting in my mom's living room and eating baby carrots with my sister while we watch T.V.

Sure, we might go out to eat and maybe shop or see a band or show but I am just as happy to sit on the floor with my mom and sister.

  • I tend to skip videos that attempt to mimic the poetic genius of John Green's "Thoughts from places" but yours was so good that I found it equally as enjoyable as the Vlogbrothers travels. Nice job. :)

  • Then some guy with a backpack walked through my living room.

I hate it when that happens :D

  • Great vid! I love your voice...And in this particular video I think you are awesome! Keep on! Thanks for inspiring us and share with us your thoughts!

  • Aww, that last line was completely adorable. LOVE the vid :)

  • vlogbrothers do it better?

    I think not!

  • This is really nice. I've always wanted to go to New York. I loved how you referred back to the baggage claim sign at the end. :)

  • I'm an aviation major, and I get to fly twice a week. The feeling I get when I look out at the fields of Virginia sprawled out beneath me is breathtaking. Thank you for making this video, 'cause it caused me to reflect on just how lucky I am to see that kind of sight every day.

  • Don't you ever breathe? :o

  • Jenna Anne sent me here!! And, I'm soooo glad she did!!!!!

  • incredible analogy.

  • I love all that you said at the end of this video! Made me smile and feel good and I wasn't even there :)

  • You should write a book!

  • Lovely video.

Unfortunately, the only thing that I seem to have taken away from it is CHOCOLATE WAFFLES. XD

  • is your mom like the yeti?

  • Your mom not showing her face? Winning!

So, is that now a thing?

  • So :) you just earned a subscriber

  • Freakin' awesome.

  • Excellent job documenting your trip. "A full day in the Big Apple with the family that still lives there" in 3 minutes. Great use of editing, wish some filmmakers could learn this simple task.:-)

Never been to New York, but it is still on my "to do" list.

  • If I could super-like this video, I totally would.

  • just epic

  • I know you're like super busy and stuff but do you think you could move some things around and write a book? kthx.

  • Wafel en dinges?!?! Belgian! :D (sorry just being proud of my country, this one time ;p)

  • You have such a way with words, it's amazing :') ♥

  • My kids do the same thing with every camera they can get their hands on, up to and including filling my phone's memory with extreme closeups of their cute little faces!!

Also: you actually made me want to go to NYC. Wow. :)

  • Very Deep :)

  • You remind me of pepper anne for some reason.

  • Beautifully elegant prose. you're like the meta of stream of consciousness delivery services!

  • You're amazingly poetic.

  • Not quite the norm when compared to your other videos. Though I do have to say that I enjoyed this quite a bit....it really makes me want to be in New York to be honest. I think that about Chicago every time I see a video about it as well...

  • This thought and humor and wit in this video literally gave me goosebumps. You are amazing, thank you for making videos :)

  • Iloved every second of this video. You should seriously consider writing stories.

  • SO INSPIRING.

  • Awesome commentary!

  • this video is amazing. i am a new yorker but have been out of the city for many years going to school to become a veterinarian. it makes me feel wonderful that others can feel the same way when they are in my city for me. thanks for sharing this :)

  • Woo for thinking stuff!

  • I went to NYC last summer.

My body is back in Seattle,

but my heart is stuck in Time Square.

  • I love your thoughts from places :)

    They're always so insightful.

  • You're quite lovely

  • I was in New York last month too.. And stayed in that hotel the crowne plaza times square hotel! i was there on the 12th to the 17th :)

  • 'Stuffed thing, stuffed thing, dead thing, stuffed thing.' Best line. I like your Dad.

  • My name's Sabrina too! :D

Oh and I enjoyed this video very much indeed.

  • This video... Was awesome. I have to watch it a couple of times more. You extend my vocabulary O.o

  • Haha awesome, your dad looks like one of those... funny dads. Is he a jokester?

  • i love your videos :) and i love your narrations :D

  • That was incredible, i just came back from NY and it was amazing as always. I actually imagined that that window of the museum was my apartment too, wouldnt that be the coolest thing ever!!

  • aw so cute :)

  • your vids are awesome

    you should make more!

  • I LOVE THOUGHTS FROM PLACES! This is on a par with the Greens' thoughts. Seriously, I adored it.

  • Tell me next time you go to New York! I want to be creepy and find you and your awesomeness!

  • lol "then a guy with a backpack walked through my living room." You're my favorite :p

  • Your voice reminds me of the books on tape I would listen to with my family on roadtrips. You should record audio books

  • The way you describe New York makes it sound fantastic. I've never been there, but have always thought of it as a place that's crowded and unfriendly. Now I definitely want to go....... at least to try that frozen yogurt ^.^

  • I really like this style of video :) You always seem to come up with an amazing video, no matter what the topic is, or whether it's funny or more serious...ILY ELMIFY! XD

  • You have a lovely voice for narration and you seem really taken with New York, I'm surprised you don't live there.

  • I've been to New York a couple of times and hated every minute of it. It's too crowded and the people all seem to be completely self absorbed. But listening to you talk about it makes me want to go back and figure out what I was missing.

  • Really nice video! :D

And...I've said this before but, you should seriously be an actress! You have this natural charm and likability that could make you mega famous (and of course mega rich ;) Plus your voice is really nice!

    Much love from London!

  • Where do I start with the Vlogbrothers? They have over 700 uploads!!!!!!!!!

  • @JustLikeFM I'm pretty sure they made a playlist of some vlogbrothers highlights. I just started with whatever videos looked interesting, and I got hooked soon enough. It'd probably be best to meander through the Brotherhood 2.0 ones first (the series that launched the channel), because that's where most of their inside jokes are established.

    Just dive in!! =D

  • Your dad looks fun haha :D

  • Awww! You are wonderful :D

  • that was really amazing dudette :) that may've come across exactly as u intended it or better. I enjoyed it.

  • Woops, I think you waxed poetic :)

  • I was there too at stuffed thing stuffed thing dead thing stuffed thing! I went with my school)

  • This is so nice, I went to Florida two years ago and all I thought about was the wide range of oreos and how brilliant the incredible hulk ride was.. :D

  • Your Dad knows the 'stuffed things' are dead too, right?

  • where is the guacamole place i must go!

  • your narration really is fantastic! just the right speed and crystal clear. i want to be able to do that someday.

  • i bet you aced writing essays in english class

  • I just got back from NYC today! I was there for the Big East Tournament!

  • You narrated this really well. If you compiled all the wonderful things you said about NYC, it would sound like a fantastic essay.. just saying.:)

  • I feel you would do very well narrating audio books.

  • agh, this makes me miss NYC too

  • Brilliant! You are wonderful!

NYC is my home and I'm so glad you love it. Best city there is :)

  • That was a pretty solid vlog, glad you had a good time!

  • I feel like I just read a Urkle the Turtle book about the value of family...

  • You should totally be a writer and also record it on audio so we all can listen !

  • if you write like you talk...you should definitely write a book ♥

  • I have dreamt of going to New York since I was a little boy.

Thank you VERY MUCH for the tour Elmify.

I would personally go for time square myself.

So many people have talked so much about it.

But your right, it's about the people not the city.

    Thanks again.

  • That was definitely one of your better videos. Awesome!

  • Ok, now that is the weiredst guacamole I've ever seen!!!!!!!

"and even thought the cab was taking us back to our hotel I already felt like I was home" that's poetry

  • Like Johnboy Walton with great wit! Thanks for sharing

  • New York, New York — a hell of a town...

I've been "courting it long distance" for awhile now too, but I never stay for as long as I like. I'm returning in a week or so, but only for two days. I'm going to jam pack those two days full of awesome, and it will be fantastigreat.

Maybe I'll make my own 'Thoughts From Places - New York Edition'!

  • @grasshoperUnit

me too, I was thinking that the other day... :)

  • Uh next time your here MEET AND GREET PLEASE!?!@!?# WE LOVE YOU COME BACK AND STAY!

  • Stuffed thing, stuffed thing, dead thing, stuffed thing.
