Would it be too reasonable to make Alucard's design like the one in SotN, Trevor's like in Curse of Darkness, Grant being more human pirate-ish like in CV3, etc? The only designs I'm happy with must be Shanoa's, Cornell's, Carmilla (since she appears in different forms during the series). I'm not really happy nor annoyed by Simon's and Maria's design though.
As for the music, I think future Cv games should learn from this and take the music in that direction, I can't count the number of fanmade remade music that sounded perfect for the next CV game simply for sounding like this game
Looks like many of us your a big fan of Cornell, boy must you have been disappointed in Lords of Shadow, when I saw the name in the beggining of the credits I was ecxited to see a story apearance of cornell in LoS, but unfortunatley it was just Kojima productions's bullshit and the only redeeming factor in the game ended being a huge dissapointment.

@castlevaniaDOA Grant is perhaps my favorite character. This is the ONLY game he's in, other than Castlevania III. And I love what they did with his voice and personality. But other than that? His knives become those circle blade things, like Axel from Organization XIII. And he himself becomes a mummy. Terrific.

I am glad you gave it a mostly favorable review. I was surprised to see it for a mere 10 dollars, and heard it was terrible so I thought I was crazy to really enjoy it.
I love this game and Cornell is the best of them all (Even though Dracula is super-cheap). i think the art could have been much better. Simon should not look like an overly buff Light Yagami, Death looks like a dentist and Alucard looked better in SotN. They should have brought Soma and Hector into the fray, maybe put in Isaac and Grahm Jones in as well. Hopefully they do another Judgment game and work out these flaws.

The WORST thing about this game is how some characters are not portrayed how they were in the 2-d games. Like Shanoa. She looks like a woman trying to look as a little girl, as opposed to a warrior.

Woo! I am glad someone gave this a good review finally. I've heard a lot of negative things about this game and I was hoping for something positive. Of course I bought the game anyway months ago. Cornell is awesome. The online is laggy. But I personally like the art style. THis is definately one for anybody's collection.
Grant is one of the three other playable characters in Castlevania: Dracula's Curse. It's kinda nice that they brought those characters back since it was the first time you could play as someone who wasn't a Belmont. Although they had to include Alucard because of his fame from SotN. As for Richter, maybe they thought he would be to close to the other two Belmont's who are already in there.
I think the art gives it justice but have not bought the game just saw the video review since i do not have the game but will soon but is there any portrait of ruin characters

Terrible art aside, I notice you didn't mention the robotic animations that make up the games cut-scenes. It's bad to the point you can almost here the whir and clicks of gears when they blink, and how they stand totally motionless except for the mouth movements. This is just unacceptable for a console this far into it's life span.
Konami should keep the fighting controlls the same and make this an adventure game. Imagen if you wii, running through the castle killing zombies and demons with the same flashyness as the fighting is....SWEET no?
well youre right the controls are good sometimes the camera is an issue but rarely the graphics are good for wii the bad stuff that i found are just 3 the character roster its a little small, limited combos its more a casual fighter like ssb and the desings for the characters suck the draculas one its good and the alucards its ok but they really killed maria in this one:( but anyway its a good game
I like Cornell's design. Konami always produced the best games for Nintendo, who don't remember Adventures of Batman & Robin for SNES? Contra for NES (I think Contra was the inspiration for the FPS games), Gradius and Metal Gear Solid? These games are much older and much better than these newer games without story.
And Dance Dance Revolution, one of the best arcade games, the only dancing game brought to consoles.
It's not his Router. My router was 75 feet away(Yeas, I did say that. It's my neighbors), and I get Perfect Online for my other COnsoles: PS3, 360, Laptop, ETC. But my Wii has serious lag still. It's the games, and console.
I just can't get over the horrible character animation. They took my fav. characters and made them look like shit. Simon and Maria look competely atrocious, as a longtime castlevania fan this really ruins the gameplay for me. Even the simon from chronicles would have been better.

Still its a cool 3D Castlevania game to own and the its an original idea to come from the series since SOTN. I was a bit confused as to how this game could be bad when seeing some other reviews.
I'm not the best player at castlevania games or fighting games, but I am a huge fan of both.
I can't wait to be able to play as Eric and of course, Death. ((I do agree with you though, I believe Soma is too big a part of the castlevania universe to be left out, while I do say this mostly because he is one of my favorites, he also has a unique, intricate storyline.))

I really want to play this game. I don't think the designs are too bad. In fact Grant's new look is a vast improvement over his original. From what I've seen the only two characters that would annoy the hell out of me are Maria and ERIC. Serriously...Eric? Why not Leon? Still I could see myself playing as Death, Cornell, Golem (saw his story/ending, made me sad), Alucard, and the two Belmonts.
i think camilla does look kinda like ivy from soul calibur and both ivy and camilla if im not mistakin had very sultry voices in terms of there personality i think, i never relise that before good observation my friend
7/10 sounds good. Even though I do prefer the old designs more, I can appreciate what they tried to do with the new designs in Judgment (give the game it's own unique look). I'm hoping for a Judgment 2 and have it include the cast from Judgment but include many more characters. Richter, Soma, Reindhart (well just so long as they can think of a good moveset), John Morris (or his son Jonathan from Portrait of Ruin, and include Charlotte), and lots more that I can't fit in a comment box, heh heh.
No. Simon Belmont has appeared in the most Castlevania games. Before Super Castlevania was removed from the time line. Simon was the only Belmont to face and defeat Dracula 3 times. Simon has also appeared as a cameo in numerous Konami games. Richter is ok but Simon has been a fan favorite for yrs. If they do a sequel im sure Simon will return much older and wiser after C2 and maybe Richter will be the arrogant young Belmont.
IMO Richter was the coolest Belmont of all. I'm just waiting for Konami to put Dracula X, and Rondo of Blood on the Wii VC. I'm also waiting for Castlevania 3 to be put on the Wii's VC. Not to mention F-Zero 2 as well.
Super was removed from the Time line? Super is supposed to be a remake/re-imagining of the first game. The American translation changed some story details to make it a sequel to Castlevania 2, but in Japan it had the same exact story as the first Castlevania. It was later reviled to the US that it was a "remake" of sorts. I think the VC release treats it as such.
4 player battles would seem very good in this game.(im sure people would agree on that.)
more characters in the game would make many people play it longer.
Story needs to be different, all scenes were just standing and talking, Sorry if people disagree, but i didnt like story mode with dull scenes, but i liked the Final Battle.

dont buy the wii lan connector, its the castlevania servers that are bad. the same thing happend to me with brawl. plus a linksys wireless router is faster than the wii lan connector.

Woo! I am glad someone gave this a good review finally. I've heard a lot of negative things about this game and I was hoping for something positive. Of course I bought the game anyway months ago. Cornell is awesome. The online is laggy. But I personally like the art style. THis is definately one for anybody's collection.

Grant is one of the three other playable characters in Castlevania: Dracula's Curse. It's kinda nice that they brought those characters back since it was the first time you could play as someone who wasn't a Belmont. Although they had to include Alucard because of his fame from SotN. As for Richter, maybe they thought he would be to close to the other two Belmont's who are already in there.

nice review actully. I like thier design. I loved Alucard so much before this game and I love him even MORE after this dump-"I-don't-like-Judgment-"wii-players-in-the-loo review. Basically, it made me change my opinion 180 degrees to Shanoa. I don't like her before but it made changes to my mind and now I am Shanoa's sort of fans. Thank you so much for making this AWSOME review. thumbs up to you.

Terrible art aside, I notice you didn't mention the robotic animations that make up the games cut-scenes. It's bad to the point you can almost here the whir and clicks of gears when they blink, and how they stand totally motionless except for the mouth movements. This is just unacceptable for a console this far into it's life span.

Konami should keep the fighting controlls the same and make this an adventure game. Imagen if you wii, running through the castle killing zombies and demons with the same flashyness as the fighting is....SWEET no?

well youre right the controls are good sometimes the camera is an issue but rarely the graphics are good for wii the bad stuff that i found are just 3 the character roster its a little small, limited combos its more a casual fighter like ssb and the desings for the characters suck the draculas one its good and the alucards its ok but they really killed maria in this one:( but anyway its a good game

I like Cornell's design. Konami always produced the best games for Nintendo, who don't remember Adventures of Batman & Robin for SNES? Contra for NES (I think Contra was the inspiration for the FPS games), Gradius and Metal Gear Solid? These games are much older and much better than these newer games without story.
And Dance Dance Revolution, one of the best arcade games, the only dancing game brought to consoles.
I think Castlevania is the best series of Konami.

30 feet away from the router is pretty far away. Have you tried moving your Wii closer and testing the signal that way?

It's not his Router. My router was 75 feet away(Yeas, I did say that. It's my neighbors), and I get Perfect Online for my other COnsoles: PS3, 360, Laptop, ETC. But my Wii has serious lag still. It's the games, and console.

I just can't get over the horrible character animation. They took my fav. characters and made them look like shit. Simon and Maria look competely atrocious, as a longtime castlevania fan this really ruins the gameplay for me. Even the simon from chronicles would have been better.

Your very welcome! Yes I did enjoy this game, but that doesn't mean there isn't need for improvement. Still its a cool 3D Castlevania game to own and the its an original idea to come from the series since SOTN. Although SOTN was like a remake of Simon's Quest, because Alucard had to collect and assemble the body parts of his father. Still great game and amazing story. Enjoy Judgment and glad I could help.

Most to say, I`d would like play this game. I havent bought Wii because is too expensive in my country.
I think this game is seems fun altough the critics.
My favorite characters are here:
-Shanoa (the kick ass noon) "see the secret art of ecclesia"
-alucard (tragic prince) "Drácula, in the name of my mother, I´ll will defeat you again¡¡"
-Cornell (rabbid licantrope) "ADAAAAAAAA"
-Aeon (¿St. Germain?¡) "Welcome to the time rift"

I was a bit confused as to how this game could be bad when seeing some other reviews.
I'm not the best player at castlevania games or fighting games, but I am a huge fan of both.
I can't wait to be able to play as Eric and of course, Death. ((I do agree with you though, I believe Soma is too big a part of the castlevania universe to be left out, while I do say this mostly because he is one of my favorites, he also has a unique, intricate storyline.))

I really want to play this game. I don't think the designs are too bad. In fact Grant's new look is a vast improvement over his original. From what I've seen the only two characters that would annoy the hell out of me are Maria and ERIC. Serriously...Eric? Why not Leon? Still I could see myself playing as Death, Cornell, Golem (saw his story/ending, made me sad), Alucard, and the two Belmonts.

I can see all the Death Note resemblances, though.
Simon = Light
Aeon = an older Near (well to me at least)
Maria = Misa
Death = kinda looks a lot like a Death Note shinigami (though it's oddly fitting considering a shinigami is a death god after all)
Grant = bears a minor resemblance to Rem (mostly thanks to those bandages; he also reminds me just a little bit of Voldo from Soul Calibur)
That's all I can really spot.Oh and anyone else think that Camilla looks kinda like Ivy from Soul Calibur?

7/10 sounds good. Even though I do prefer the old designs more, I can appreciate what they tried to do with the new designs in Judgment (give the game it's own unique look). I'm hoping for a Judgment 2 and have it include the cast from Judgment but include many more characters. Richter, Soma, Reindhart (well just so long as they can think of a good moveset), John Morris (or his son Jonathan from Portrait of Ruin, and include Charlotte), and lots more that I can't fit in a comment box, heh heh.

No. Simon Belmont has appeared in the most Castlevania games. Before Super Castlevania was removed from the time line. Simon was the only Belmont to face and defeat Dracula 3 times. Simon has also appeared as a cameo in numerous Konami games. Richter is ok but Simon has been a fan favorite for yrs. If they do a sequel im sure Simon will return much older and wiser after C2 and maybe Richter will be the arrogant young Belmont.

IMO Richter was the coolest Belmont of all. I'm just waiting for Konami to put Dracula X, and Rondo of Blood on the Wii VC. I'm also waiting for Castlevania 3 to be put on the Wii's VC. Not to mention F-Zero 2 as well.

Super was removed from the Time line? Super is supposed to be a remake/re-imagining of the first game. The American translation changed some story details to make it a sequel to Castlevania 2, but in Japan it had the same exact story as the first Castlevania. It was later reviled to the US that it was a "remake" of sorts. I think the VC release treats it as such.

When i seen only IGN gave this game a deserving score, i got p*ssed.
I love this game and it's very fun to play.
It stayed towards the Castlevania Series with the items and hearts.
I hope for a Sequel...buy the game to help them earn enough money to make a Castlevania Judgment 2!

I think 7.5 is a good rating for this.
a Damage Setting would be nice.
4 player battles would seem very good in this game.(im sure people would agree on that.)
more characters in the game would make many people play it longer.
Story needs to be different, all scenes were just standing and talking, Sorry if people disagree, but i didnt like story mode with dull scenes, but i liked the Final Battle.
This game is like a past before their actual games, kinda nice.

Boring Story (it's repetitive...but i guess that's how it's supposed to be since everyone has to meet Aeon.

Naruto Clash of Ninja 1 had the same amount of characters and even that had a better rating than this...bunch of Naruto a** kissers.
This game was Waaaaayyy better than Naruto's first fighter.
I hope they make a Sequel, I want to see Soma!
Also other boss characters in the game!

dont buy the wii lan connector, its the castlevania servers that are bad. the same thing happend to me with brawl. plus a linksys wireless router is faster than the wii lan connector.
