hey guys need some help!! can you use 1d or 2d with a numark 5000 fx does it work with any mixer or it has 2 be a allen & heath mixer?and if it works do i have to have a software or u just plug them 2 the mixer and that's ok? i'm getting better equiment and i can't afford a xone 3d right now since i'm saving money for my denom cd player 3700s adding this will be awesome thanks for your help and your time !!!
@technoaddict83 I don't think you really understand what those things are, the 1D and 2D are MIDI-Controllers. They send MIDI signals to the computer (Mac or PC) and that way you can manipulate your DJ software. The 2D also has an internal soundcard, so you can use headphones and connect the device to an mixer/amplifier. Hit me up if you have questions :)
@remcopeg to be honest i don't understand thats why i'm looking for some help and i also don't wanna buy something that it wont' work with what i have, i was asking cuz i saw on the net that you can buy them separately just the midi controllers cuz i know they work with NI scratch software what about the mixer numark 500fx does it work with scratch? thanks for your help!!!
I still get out my turntables from time to time, but why? its a lost art. I much rather MIDI to keep things simple. A DJ's job it to entertain, not to make things difficult for himself just to keep a dead technology alive. Hate if you want, this is the future and I embrace it!
i see the responsing time on xone 1d was a little bit too late when you go down the fader 0:41 and when you stop/play the track 1:53. why that happend? lagging of the operating system or something else?
@petethepedo. well then get out your turntables and mix exclusively with vinyl. those cue buttons and compact mp3's are just another way of "cheating"
@petethepedo ive been beatmatching for 15 years. Production for 3. Time to move on with djing and make it interesting again. This is the next level...
@petethepedo dj s that use traktor and other computer stuff are pass the point of just beat matching and let songs run out to just to mix another one in.. there are more things can do then worried about matching a beat
Hi please help. I want to buy the 2d, but i need to know if it can control both decks of tracktor aand also if the sound card will work with tracktor or if i need to add audio 4 or 8. thanks
there are videos of people using the xone 4d as the soundcard for timecode working
I am not sure if any soundcard with an input works for timecoding but the 2d has input for 2 stereo signal wich COULD work but if mrcuss says it doesn't work he/they will propably know it since they have it
@Frace91 Pretty much any ASIO (for windows) or Core-audio (Mac) soundcard will work for timecode on Traktor, as far as I know. I have a friend who uses the M-Audio Fast Track Pro for timecode, which is definitely not scratch certified. I have a Hercules RMX, which I haven't hooked turntables up to, but it works when I tried selecting it for timecode input.
hi guys just wondering if anybody knows a way to use a xone 2d or other controller to actually browse/bring in clips from the ableton browser (like in traktor)?? hopefully the mouse isn't the only way to do that? hope somebody has the answer! ! thanks
The biggest difference is obviously the Sound card but the 2D also has a 'Shift' mode button, allowing you to re-map the entire surface giving you 87 mappable controls.
Hi, I have a macbook pro with ableton and a nice M-audio profire 610 soundcard, I was gonna get a xone 32 mixer and a 1D, but now think I might just get 2 xone 1D's. If your going just digital do you think a mixer is necesarry, can the 1D do midi eq just as well?
Having an analog mixer for digital mixing has no benefit unless you intend to incorporate another audio source like a CD player or turn table into your mix and assigning EQ controls via MIDI is fine as long as you have enough controls. 4 channels worth of EQ is a lot of controls used up just for EQ.
i am thinkin of purchasing two 1ds to controller 4 decks on trackor and all my effects..will i need a special type of mixer ,,or can i jus use the one im using now its a beringer 750djx.....please wb to me thanks!
Ok thanks so much. So far it looks like one of the best on the market as far as software-compatible MIDI controllers are concerned. Suprisingly not much talk about them though, and even the xone 3 or 4D. Anyways thanks for that bit of info :)
What is the function of the xone 92 or xone 42 in a digital dj setup?
I´m planning to buy a xone 2D but i´ve seen some guys adding any of the mentioned above. I suppose you connect the 2D to the computer and then via MIDI to the main mixer and then... you have what...? a super MIDI controler? will it serve just for connecting analog stuff?
does anyone know if you can control the eq from the xone 2d using traktor pro?.. thats my only concern. I want to be able to have eq controls from the xone 2d. thanks for any responses!
Nice setup. How do you connect the audio interface and 2x 1D/2D to a macbook pro with only 2 USB ports ? Would the NI Audio 4DJ be a good soundcard to this setup ?
I don't think the Otus has a sound card, i may be wrong. The main draw of the 2D is it has a built in soundcard, but if you have a soundcard already (with 2 or more outputs) it may be worth looking at a 1D. if you need a soundcard, get a 2D!
If you already use Traktor and CDJs then the 1D is a logical step in your setup. It will enhance your performance and take you head out of your laptop while giving you many more configurable rotary encoders and faders to play with.
You configure the 1D / CDJ MIDI to suit you and your style of playing and if setup correctly they wont interfere with each others MIDI.
im about to purchase a 1d. not too sure though because i would like to incorporate with a cdj or two. But if i do order this, whats the point of using a cdj with midi along with traktor. can i assign a cdj to a specific deck without this midi controller interfering with another midi unit like a cdj.
hey, the video has been a good help in setting up my xone 1d. what effect did u assign to the rotary wheel? and which is the best way to assign loop functions?

What software are you using?

@mrcuss NI traktor pro 1.2.4
SebassTheDJ 1 year ago
No then!
The 2D never got Traktor certification as it was too close to their own Audio8 sound card.
Obviously you can use it as a MIDI controller but you would require an external sound card with Traktor certification to use time encoded vinyl.

Yes the 2D can control both decks due to it having a 'Shift' function. This lets you map every control on the surface twice.
If you are using time encoded vinyl then you will need to use one of Native Instruments Audio devices as the 2D isnt Scratch certified.

bram213 2 years ago
There are many variations and it is all dependant on your personal requirements.
The 2D is a combined controller and Audio interface, essential in a digital set-up.
Controller for the software and obviously the sound card for the Audio.
So to answer your question, Yes you can combine your mixer with the 2D allowing the 2D to control the parameters of the software.

If you select the MIDI button and enter 'MIDI Map Mode' you should notice top right, just under the 'Stop Clip'.

This is where you map your controls for your clips.
