  • I don't support OWS, but I wisb Niall Ferguson would suckstart a fucking pistol.

  • @BestAvailableTheory But those who consented to such a deal (which is a scam) are allowing others to get rich on their back. And since the entire economy is based on growth (a loan lending economy) a lot of people are rich b/c loan lending makes houses, cars, college, etc. very expensive and hard to live without. You don't have to take out a loan, but since most people do, we're stuck with this system. You can't back a dump truck full of money to a human beings house and have them say, "no".

  • @BestAvailable Lots of people are rich for dumb reasons; rap stars, reactionary book sellers, any random person from a University bus/econ dept.... But, as far as I'm concerned, they're welcome to accumulate to their wittle hearts content; just not on my back. A loan lending economy means a lot of people got rich on my back, directly or indirectly. What did a loan lender do for me, except make a pile of money available? Yet I'm going to spend a life time forking money over to that system?

  • @BestAvailableTheory I wasn't attempting to justify poor people stealing money. And I didn't use the word, "deserve".

  • @BestAvailableTheory I don't know how you got that from my post.

  • He should be glad the ows people are feckless. Otherwise, people who got rich w/o actually producing anything worthwhile, people who are rich for dumb reasons (selling pop. culture products to the lcd, loan lending, the rich enterprise that exists thanks to loan lending, like the text book racket, etc. etc.), would be in trouble.

  • `pitched their tents in Harvard yard, and the resulting inconvenience is one of the major talking points on campus`

    fucking love niall but he sounds so stuffy saying that with a scottish accent

  • since when Harvard was 'liberal' institution?

  • @Daydream2142 Do you have your head in the sand or something? Academia has steadily been moving to the left for the past fifty years. Nixon called it Kremlin on the Charles for a reason. Unless you mean classical liberal.

  • It is very hard to believe that this puppet, who doesn't understand the Occupy Wall Street movement, is a Harvard professor. Actually not, when I also saw another puppet from Ecuador, Jamil Mahuad, who destroyed the country, also becoming a Harvard professor.

  • HA HA Ferguson whether you like him or not is damn right about the demographics and 60's fiscal policy. These things are not compatible and so many idiot Americans think they still have the cash to fix the system lol when the real world and bankers come out to play it'll be to late to save us because we have already drained the system.

  • Niall Ferguson is amazing & an insider, if there ever was one - He can articulate the(old) empire`s expansionism as inherently necessary for the greater good of Terra forming sociology... Even bonds become divine-usury, the tool of tools, just like the Maxim gun.

  • Pompous wanker.

  • Reasontorecord: you offer no real basis for your views or why you think this guy is a moron. If you have a better solution to the question how to allocate the worlds limited resources than capitalism I would love to hear it. Everyone agrees that capitalism is a flawed system, but that is because human nature itself is floored. Capitalism is the system which best harnesses man's inherent selfishness and puts it to good use.

  • @lukefrancis360 The fundamental lie of capitalism is that we have scarce resources. There is more than enough food, even with the current inefficiencies to feed everyone in the world over 3,000 calories a day. New oil fields are discovered every year. Artificial scarcity is a key weapon of the capitalist system. It allows prices to be driven higher and higher, and provides convenient excuses for poverty, all for profit. The monetary system is a wall between people and resources, kept standing

  • @historypoliticsbb

    A Zeitgeist advocate no doubt? Poverty did exist before the monetary system as humans fought over resources and tribes butchered each other. Your wrong about poverty to my friend because right now in Latin America 1 in 3 are not out of poverty, China is rapidly growing and the average westerner now is only 5% richer than the average Chinese. You need to really read more deeply and compare socialism to capitalism. You need to ask why is it that so many from China and former

  • @lukefrancis360 (cont.) by those who profit from it. The monetary system is unneccessary and cruel. Poverty did not exist before the monetary system. People did not have to pay for food, water, shelter and heat. They worked in communes of 50-150 people (on average) and these things were provided. Capitalism has impoverished most of the world, and its now taking on the 'West', and any remaining countries not completely beholden to the banks.

  • @historypoliticsbb

    Soviet blocs specifically women who have had no feminist activism thrive in this society? You should look up the Hb1 visa and really take a look at who is thriving in your system. Your education is underfunded? We'll go to a third world country and compare a real third world education to Americas. What the conclusion will be is we can't even compete even with third world countries anymore and we get ten times the funding they do. This is dangerous and soon reality will strik

  • @Reido2828 Where's the evidence that poverty existed before the monetary system? The burden of proof is on those that make the claim. And you misunderstand me - we have enough food to feed everyone, according to the World Bank no less - its simply that this system purposefully denies it to the people. It thrives on a huge pool of cheap labour. Poverty is an input into the system. Africa was prosperous, and so was India before it was looted by Western Imperialists. As for education, I know that

  • @historypoliticsbb

    I agree with you but don't bring up the past colonization policies ok. its long and over. Can you at least admit you're a zeitgeist supporter? I see you run along with conspiracies to because the system does not produce obedient workers. You need to look at the direction education is heading and what kind of new courses are being implemented. We have the ability to choose what we study and read. Were not forced to no matter how much you say otherwise

  • @Reido2828 (cont.) funding has nothing to do with it. The education system does exactly what it is supposed to do - produce obedient workers, bereft of critical thinking, distracted by the 'entertainment' industry. A fairly small educated class (Britain built the biggest colonial empire in history with no more than 5% University educated) is needed to develop in science, produce 'intellectuals' etc. The rest of population is kettle, fit for manipulation and slaughter. Kissinger said as much.

  • @historypoliticsbb *cattle (lol)

  • RON PAUL!

  • This guy is a total moron. End the private bank known as the Fed. That is the problem and this guy gets paid to teach people? Wow no wonder this world is so fucked up at the moment. Poor students. Wait until they look back on this period in time and this video for the sadness our universities have become. Greed.

  • I'm guessing this professor won't be employed after everything transpires.

    His pompous attitude and clueless demeanor shows his loss of touch with humanity.

    He's also a professor of LAW, should we say more? HAHA

  • The unemployment rate is getting worse increasing the number of protesters and Washington is clearly refusing to take action.

    * 2011 U6 unemployment rate: 16.5%

    * 2011 Monthly US Population Growth: 150k

    * 2011 Total College Class: 20.4 Million

    (2011 Total Jobs Created: 1 Million)

    How is this sustainable?

    OCCUPY WALL STREET WILL ONLY GROW
