I wasn't even a teen when my brother was into U2. I spent years, even until I was about 14, whistling U2 songs not even knowing who they were (family travelled a lot in remote places and didn't see much of my brother). Then I found out and was like "my life's complete! I can finally listen to the blasted songs I've been whistling all these years!" lol
Was playing a gig in The Clarence Hotel (Bono's Hotel) in Dublin there a few weekends ago and the man himself was in so I gave this song a belt for him :D After the set he sent someone to bring me to his table, and said "That was a great version of his song" and then bought me a pint :D Best moment ever
I am so glad that my parents played rock and ect in the car, because it opened up my variety of music that I listen to. I actually never listened to U2 before now, and I am sad that it took so long for me to find them.(:
t the is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved 3 days ag
@120TOMTOM That's your opinion, that doesn't mean modern music is crap, even though at some degree I agree with you. There's still good music being made, we just live in a time we're we need to look for it now.
@120TOMTOM I'm 13, i can say the same. I really can't believe people my age listen to dubstep shit & rap. Im grateful my dad got me into rock, Van Halen, U2, Journey..
@120TOMTOM same with me. I used to dance to elevation in my living room when he played it on the stereo lol I still like some "modern pop rubbish" though
@120TOMTOM So true haha, I have so many fond memories of my dad and a good friend of his just blasting U2 in the car while driving to our holiday locations.
@walnon Bad vocals? XD Seriously? This particular recording is actually quite excellent. XD I'd like to see you do it with more feeling and articulation than he does.
u2 my favorite band, long life for them god bless ypu 1michelemilechele1 for share this music, viva bono, the edge, adam clayton, larry mullen jr, daniel lanois and bryan eno.
If you dont like this song(The five people that disliked it) You can burn in hell. This song alone has changed hundreds of thousands of peoples lifes. Let alone all of the other AMAZING songs they've made.
@synkciu You obviously know nothing about music my friend. I've never known a 4 piece band to make this sort of noise in my life or before. They're the best and biggest band in the world by a mile. Great songs, great musicians, and the best front man in the world. Deal with it
@synkciu Last time I looked Bono was the singer with the world's biggest band, not a 1st century Jewish prophet. So no, Bono isn't like Jesus to me. And I re-iterate my previous comment, you obviously have no clue about music. Or else you wouldn't come out with comments as stupid as that.
I'm pretty sure that there's a special vocal effect on bono's voice at 2:38, which makes it sound kind of airy and more distant. does anyone know something about vocal effects? could it be that they simply boosted a precise area of the EQ?
Estos que votan que no les gusta esta musica, que clase de musica les gusta.Cada uno es libre de votar a favor o encontra. Yo no he conocido a nadie que no le guste U 2.
I went to see U2 in concert when they released this album and bono dedicated this song to his dad who was ill, 6 days later his father passed away. I will always remember this song for that reason and how touching it was that night.
I didn´t lost my dad through tragedy, But I love him so much and is so hard to imagine my life withouth him. I´m gonna have to learn, 'cuz he is my best friend in the whole world And I don´t know what I´m supossed to do. Anyway, I underestend you guys, and All I can say is that we have to ´Walk On´
Losing your Dad isn't the best thing on earth. If you have lost your father through tragedy. I know how you feel. It's hard, eh! sucks bad. Life get's better believe me!!
This song came out during a time when Bono's dad and my Uncle were both sick and even though I wasn't really close to my uncle I looked up to him because he was a police man and a Vietnam Veteran. I did enjoy when I got to see him and the song Kite reminds me that I had to let him go because he had a terrible case of Cancer in the brain that was inoperable and there was nothing we could do to stop it. I really loved my uncle.
i just figured out the main themes of this song... its about the moment when you help someone and then let them go and help themselves... "i want you to know that you don't need me anymore"... the imagery of a kite flying is amazing... "who's to say where the wind will take you"... this song is just beautiful
The song can be interpreted in many ways, but the general consensus is that it is speaking of the painful process of letting go of someone (be it a significant other, parent, etc.)
Speechless......I have seen this song in many forms and must agree that Bono is at his best vocally (not discounting the early R&H days for example) here.........and the meaning is golden.
@Ritafff you're so right. this song touches a raw chord especially when you're going through some kind of emotional loss or hurt. especially that constant and haunting guitar riff in the background
This song reminds me great things...
