  • this was made before my bday lol and wow!

  • Toy buisness IS money....you cant download a toy right?

  • You can tell its matel its well

  • 10 day contracts, 72hr work week, 7 days a week, 23 hr shift...

these days a labor movement is emerging, strikes or the threat of strikes motivates employers to increase wages by up to 80% - that says something about the profit margins of those corporations, it's not as though they can not afford to pay decent wages.

    google:

    China labor unrest

    Honda strikes

    Foxconn strikes

    Foxconn suicides

  • I wouldn't mind paying more for a decent quality product. Unfortunately, that option is not readily available to any consumer. Instead you are forced to buy something that is going to break within an hour of use.

  • sounds like the US is eating its own opium. the irony is that n. american companies designed many of the recalled toys. if these companies designed toys where their requirement is for the least expensive industrial strength paint on their products then lead paint would be at the top of the list. anyways, lead or no lead, paint is not edible.

  • their trying to kill us all!!! :<

  • since made in china give so...much trouble... Why not rebuild mattel in kl malaysia

we have most of the ex mattelian that i think willing to.....

  • fuck the stupid mattel taking away the bratz! >:I

  • fuck mattel

  • Maybe Mattel should stop being so damn cheap and stop building every one of their products in China just to save cash. They care more about money than their customers obviously

  • So does this mean my Webkinz are made in China or Canada??

  • @ThylacineAli no These are figures like hard toys if you mean the webkinz figures, still no. no need to worry my friend, I have about 80 webkinz and 5 figures, non on the recall list

  • I was talking about the plushes' noses and eyes. But that's good to know. I love my Webkinz. I have 149. (Just a collector's obsession, lol)

  • This is another sad story from China. The fact is that Corporations are only interested in Profit. Therefore they would do almost anything to increase market share or revenue. There is nothing wrong with making money. But when it forces children to work in sweat-shops and for products to be made from hazardous or banned substances there lies the problem. Enforcement agencies only find 20-30% of what gets onto the market..makes you think when you feed your kids or use chinese made products.

  • Think of it this way: China's health regulations are lower then North America's, so we blame the Chinese. But, why do companies like Mattel keep making thier dangerous products in China? If they really put the health of the children first, why do they keep letting the Chinese companies do this? Sure, it saves a buck, but shouldn't mattel do something more then recall a toy like it was never out on the market?

  • Yes indeed Mattel had no idea! Give me a break. Zhang Shuhong, the man who owned the Chinese company committed suicide. Mattel suits, like this moron, get bonuses and forgiven loans. That seems fair in a Barbie world.

  • Screw all these nit-wit China bashers.

    Here's what I would do:

Kick all American toy companies out of China. Produce and export Chinese brand toys and charge 30 times more than what the Chinese got from those moron Amerian co's (use the money to hire consultants on US laws & regulations) or stop export all toys to US all together, screw them!

    Or

With 1.3 Chinese consumers, redirect resources to domestic consumptions or export to other part of world. Screw the Americans!

  • People need to wake up and stop buy dangerous product from china. Its a china trick. Make believe its real whan its not.

  • In an ABC news series broadcasted before the holiday season, lead testing tools are introduced. The goal was to screen Chinese made toys.

Lol, the result is rather scientific - the overwhelming majority of lead are found in Made-in-USA toys. The show defended a result by saying the lead paint on a Made-in-USA glass is below where the mouth should be.

Is that so? So, children will not touch the lead paint on the glass. Then, are you supposed to drink out of Barbie or a helicopter?

  • Lead has been ban since 1978 in the USA. China is a toxic maker of pet food, tooth paste and toys. Face it You get what you pay for. Low wagers= cheap junk that kills.

  • If lead was banned since 1978, companies like Mattel didn't have any quality control or what-so-ever?? why are we blaming on someone who is making pennies when big boys like Mattel making millions??? Is that fair?

  • made in china means death to all who play with it.

  • The matter of fact is 90% of the recalls are due to inferior design by the US companies and the remaining 10% was by poor chinese manufaturing. During his recent trip to China, the CEO of Mattel made an apology to the Chinese people about the damage his company has done to the reputation of Chinese products. Unfortunately there are many idiots in this country who have been used by the Media and the politicians and apparently they don't know the truth.

  • You got to be joking. Made in china is junk. No product pride. Coat hanger metals. Cheap molds and tap and die. BTW since when did mattel design pet food that kills or lead in paint on childrens toys? Why don't you brush your teeth with tooth paste made in china. Keep doing it and see how long you would live to tell about it.

  • Things happen even in well-regulated countries like the US and some Western nations, China is one of the developing countries in the world and its regulatory system is still not matured. And it is not the only country that has toxic products on the shelf. It is the word "China" that gets everyone's attention.

  • Yes things do happen. But it goes to the word intented to do so. China puts profits before people and low wages along with long work hours = deadly products. Labor unions in the USA rised the standand of living in the usa. China need to do the same.

  • Don't these US companies put profits ahead of everything? In fact they make 90% of the profits and these poor Chinese can only make less than 1%! These US companies should spend more $ on training & inspections and we should not blame on those who make pennies.

  • For every dollar profit which a Chinese company make, american companies like Mattel make ten times. Low wages benefit to american companies. If you care about wages in foreign coutries, campanies like Mattel should be less greedy and american consumers should be ready to pay more for imported goods.

  • So don't be hypocritical.

  • I agree! Its true that companies make more money sending items to China rather than manufacturing at home.

    No Overtime

    No Holiday pay

No Medical insurance plan (US only)

    No Union red tape

    No Minimum wage

    Low overheads

List goes on..each line is adding to the profits..

Another way of looking at it..If you buy a cheap product from China in a year it breaks and then you replace it with another..Wouldnt it make more sense to buy that quality item?

  • @Microsoft1Apple0 I am confused are you talking about the economy here or in China... seems the line is getting more blurred everyday.

  • a lot of products are made in china, so if u'r not buying china products, tht's a wide range of stuff u'r not buying. i guess they don't need product pride cuz, it's a humble country, unlike the arrogant ones that says "proudly made in (put a random country name in)"

  • You are a moron. Do you think Matel put on their prints (Leaded Paint Only)? That country is a joke. They have polluted the ocean from the shoreline to a mile out before you can even dream of seeing a fish. Its sad for the whole world. America made laws and intends its companies to abide by them. Its the greedy CEO's that go right for China.

  • only 10% of the total recalls was caused by lead paint and the remaining 90% were due to poor design. Don't forget some US and western-based companies polluated their lands simply because they don't have a well-regulated system, these companies use bribery to get away. Before we blame on others for polluation, bad toys and etc,we should look at what we have done to others and stop the double standards measure. It is just not fair to blame on someone who is making less than 1% of profit.

  • are u saying that china is the only country that's polluting the world? cuz it's not

  • keep the toymaker in the u.s and maybe thay will not be toxic toys

  • hay

  • I have loads of polly pocket stuff

  • Hopefully, this is greed biting all these companies back in the ass!I wonder what the bigger picture is?Why all the sudden we are hearing all this?I'm sure this has been going on for a long time!

  • Two people I know personally have done business with Chinese mainlainders and have gotten screwed in the process. Their ideas were either stolen, the products were made in a shoddy manner, or the products were never made at all (with the Chinese counterpart keeping the money and giving nothing in return). Sad to say but these communist Chinese are duplicitous. There's really no other words to describe them.

  • Mattel just bent over to China on Friday. So much for US power, bending over to arrogant Chinese communists, although they're more spoiled little princes than communists.

China kills sharks for power, and kills rhinos for boners. Maybe they'll discover Viagra someday. Stoneage mindset rampant in that country.

  • If Mattel can't continue to do business in China and at the same time talk shits. If they are not interested to work with China they can just go elsewhere. If they still need to stay in China they have to apology. This is the point, there is no need for discussion

  • I found out yesterday that i had a toy from the recall list but today i realized they also had a magnet recall (i have the polly pocket magnets) i was sooooooo thankful that it wasn't lead but i still put it away

  • Me ates lead paint...yummy goodness make me feel like sunshine n gumdrops...

  • Little Chinese girl working in a toy factory all day long, all day long. Little Chinese girl working in a toy factory and she put too much lead paint on that toy.

  • Bob Eckert probably has a little Chinese girlfriend.

  • Bob Eckert would put on a dress and sell his flesh to every member of the CCP Politburo if he thought it would boost quarterly profits.

  • Little Chinese girl on a birthday ship, a birthday ship, a birthday ship. Little Chinese girl on a birthday ship, making love to Bob Eckert.

  • This is the fruit of "Outsourcing". Besides degrading the economy, it puts hazardous material. Even prison/wage slave labor in a 3rd world country is not enough for them. They have to use materials so deficient as to be hazardous.

  • i smell a rat

  • Yes but surely all mega corporations are the same as Mattel. The computer your reading this on is probably just as big as Mattel, does that mean your going to stop using it? At least Mattel are in the spotlight and their toys are now probably the safest to buy cos theyre highly aware of safety now. Can the same be said for the many other companies who maybe are hoping that they dont get caught out like Mattel?

  • the autoworkers union has told its members not to buy or limit spending on mattel or fisher price! this should teach them a lesson about fucking around with our children! its all about profit isnt it mattel, scumbags, no more profit now not from us!

  • it's all media control on the stock market...you really think this wasn't planned...go by a scooter for your child....and then a first aid kid....there wasn't even on complaint or one injury with the mattel toys.....u.s. media bullies...CNN garbage
