  • My Evo had a cracked screen, though it was still functional. I could still see the UI and it was responsive to my touch. Today, I dropped my phone again and I can no longer see the UI display... it is just a black screen. Would replacing the glass screen at this point resolve this, or do you think I'm facing a bigger problem? Thanks.

  • I put it back together and had no lcd as well :( Anyone have a quick solution because I would really like my $400 back i put on a new phone

  • @mrtnvols123 No LCD at all could indicate a ripped ribbon cable or possibly the cable not being inserted all the way. Our advice is to go in and check all the cables (being inserted all the way) and look for any damage to cables. Let us know and feel free to direct message us we love to help!

  • thanks for the video. it worked perfect!!!! you saved my ass

  • I ordered my glass today along with the necessary tools. Can I buy tape that thin at Radio Shack or is it something I will only be able to find online? Also thank you for the detailed video, all the other videos I watched just show you how to get the phone open and the glass out, but didn't show the reassembly.

  • @mrtnvols123 If you bought the part from us direct message us and we would be glad to include it free of charge. If not you can find the adhesive by searching "3M adhesive htc evo" on google..

  • okay i replaced this glass but when i put it all back together and turn it on theres no display only a lit screen. please help i do not want to buy a new phone -_-

  • @Salivalality00 The first thing I would check is that the cable that goes from the LCD to the logic board is fully seated and evenly inserted. Also check for tears or any damage. If that doesn't help you might have shorted the LCD.

  • my touchscreen is not working any idea what i did wrong the screen turns on and sound too

  • This might be because I bought a cheap screen from amazon that was only 11$. I would still rather deal with the lag than pay sprint 100$ for an insurance claim especially now I have followed this video and am super happy with the results. My next time performing this fix will be a breeze... Great video...

  • I agree this is the Best complete video on replacing a broken digitizer screen. The only problems I came across was the thickness of tape I used. I used outdoor Scotch made by 3m cause that's what I had in my tool box. It is very thin but not thin enough! I can see a little light on the sides and bottom coming through when held at the right angle. I know over time dust and lint will get in and ill have to re-do with very very thin tape. The other problem is there is also a lag when texting fast.

  • Best Video on here for this. Thanks, im going to start on this soon.

  • @iRepairFast I did everything just as the video said, and when I turned it on seemed to work fine, except its not always responsive, almost like the calibration is off, what are the probable reasons?

  • i accidentally scratched my lcd removing all the glue with metal tweezers but not so bad. The video got me through everything perfectly. i actually used 3m Scotch Outdoor mounting tape (weight up to 5 lbs) its like a foam-y adhesive. i was able to use my tweezers to spread it out and smash it down til it was thin enough for the screen to fit tight. It worked out perfect. thanks for the video you saved me between $50-$90 dollars. I am very greatful

  • @NatashaSiren We are glad to hear it! Thank you and please subscribe!

  • i just fixed my screen. was quite simple but when i put it all back together and hit the power button the screen never lit. So i removed the back plate again and noticed in the video I needed to push in the ribbon cable more. I didnt want to use metal tweezers so I use 2 prongs off a broken plastic fork ! Bam that worked !! worst part is all that damn 3M tape ! LOL

  • @bwwerner0 Nice job macgyver! ;)

  • The song tricked me, i thought my phone was vibrating

  • it will be more easier if you don't use the heat gun trust me i tried it without an the screen comes out in one piece not in pieces

  • @asoria6 It is really dependent on how the screen breaks. Sometimes it comes in one piece, sometimes It doesn't. It's best to use hot air. Trust Me, We have done hundreds of these.

  • by far the best video on the subject! unfortunately the one i watched to disassemble mine looked like they had been taken apart a few times and the lack of glue between the lcd and glass on their demonstration is misleading so i ended up with a broken lcd, buy both from scratch so you dont have to wait 3 days for the new lcd when you break it (i found screen, lcd AND tools kit for 38 dollars, buy the bundle and save the agrevation) thanks for the good video! wish i had started HERE lol

  • @djCapitalT We wish you would have started here too : ( You know where to come from now on ; p

  • @iRepairFast i got the screen and those little plastic pieces that are on the 4 touch things, those arent on the new screen, do i need them?

  • My screen stays white help!!

  • @laelexemo11 Go back and make sure the cable is fully inserted and seated straight also check for any damage on the cable of the LCD. If that doesn't fix the issue your LCD might be shorted out... Let us know!

  • @iRepairFast Alright thanks ..actually the cable is just a lil tilted do you think that might be the problem? i cant get it to stay straight

  • @laelexemo11 It could definitely be the problem, but be sure to check everything, If you cant get the cable to gold straight you probably need to take the main board off and adjust the cable. You can gently pull up the adhesive and reposition it to make the cable line up with the LCD connector.

  • im using this video in a couple weeks to fix mine. hopefully it goes well. what brand of Adhesive tape is the best to use?

  • @subhumanguy Awesome! 3M Brand

  • how much for the tape?

  • wonderful video :), where do i get that type of tape?? do you have a link?? i suscribed :)

  • @gitmac53 Just search google for "HTC Evo 3M tape" You'll find it : ) or you could order a part through us and ask for some complimentary 3M Tape !

  • This is probably the best screen replacement vid on youtube :D

Bout a week ago I dropped my evo and it landed right on the corner. Not wanting to pay the $100 dollar deductible, I went this route. Didn't have a heat gun so I just used my hair dryer :P

One thing though, when you take the phone apart, the power button and volume button fall out. It didn't with yours? but it did with every other video I had watched. But anyways, fixed my evo thanks to this :)

  • @rebeccamadisonw Thank you! You are right, sometimes the buttons will fall out..Please help us out and subscribe : D

  • How do I contact you for a fix of my EVO

  • @damarcusredmon Just go to our website and select the HTC Evo 4G Repair.

  • i found this phone real cheap for around 130$!! but the glass is cracked, should i buy it?

  • reasons why i love this video

    1. actually used a crack screen to demonstrate

    2. helps me fix my phone.

    that is all

  • This video save me a ton of money...I replaced my screen under $20, and now I don't have pay $100 for a replacement. Only thing is the lights at the bottom of my screen won't light up (home, back, search). I'm okay with that though. Everything else works fine. Thanks!

  • Nice, i wont Have to pay 100 $ to fix .

  • how do you know what type your screen digitizer is? Narrow and Wide.

  • What is the cost to have you perform this fix?

I just dropped mine... still powers up, shows images, responds to touch & slides... but the glass is totally moshed... shipping to 94598... guess on total cost, please? thx

  • @HarrrySpider $54.99 Plus Tax This includes shipping back to you! Check your e-mail : )

  • @iRepairFast same thing happened to mine.. so how long does it take till i get my evo back?

  • Be real careful with the Exact-o knife. I used one and it damaged the LCD. I now have to buy a complete LCD/Screen combo for over $80 if I can get it shipped....backordered now. I noted other videos didn't use the long pointed knife but only the plastic tools. I now have a pile of parts I hope will become an EVO again some day. BEWARE! My "phone" now is an iPod touch with Skype at WiFi hotspots

  • @srbarlow It takes some finess to take off the glass and LCD. It would take days to use just a plastic pry tool to separate them. It is common and normal to use a blade to do it. The videos that dont use a blade usually separate the screen partially before taping making it seem easy. This video is accurate and well done.

  • @lucpete9 Guess I lack finesse... aren't you glad I'm not a brain surgeon. I guess I just wanted to warn others to be careful with the blade. I dissected my LCD in two. Happy New Year!

  • @srbarlow Lucpete9...be nice : ) Thanks for warning people and happy new year to you!

  • very nice video man

  • Where can i find both the glass and LCD???

  • @lieshockanmaster ebay for sure

  • Ive seen the glass only selling for 20 bucks on some sites. Is there a specific reason the glass would be floating around by itself?

  • @CrimsonKhaos If you can find the glass and LCD floating around separately for cheaper go for it! But it may be harder for you to assemble...A much higher chance of getting Dust under the screen too.

  • i will be to scared to do that

  • I followed the video and now the top left part of the LCD is black...what did i do wrong?

  • @gibo1619

you may have been too rough and cracked the LCD. Did you replace the LCD as well, or is it the original one that is now black in the corner?

  • Can this technique be applied to the Samsung Infuse on At&t?

  • @CrimsonKhaos Unfortunately no, the screens are bought glass and LCD pre-assembled, they are in short supply, also, they are a very high quality Super AMOLED+ display so they are expensive.

  • were can i buy this tool from

  • thank you so much..... i just saved my self $100....

  • I wish I had seen this video before the other one I watched that helped me destroy the LCD. Much more complete and realistic, thanks for posting.

  • @tbase99 Thank you! Please subscribe!

  • @iRepairFast I tried to repair my screen and i did everything exactly like that but i cleaned my lcd with a wipe and when i put it back together everything turns on but my screen is now black and has a green line through it does that mean i need a new lcd???? if you reply i would be so grateful i really need your help

  • @ikashbaby

Sounds like you may have been too rouch on the LCD and now it is broken. YOu will need to replace it, or have it replaced.

  • @tbase99 omg i think i broke my LCD TOO !!! :( SOMBODY SHOOT ME!!!!

  • @ikashbaby - it only got worse for me- I ordered a new LCD on eBay and it was great because it was the whole front of the phone, touch screen, buttons and all. The problem was when I went to reconnect the cables, the part on the connector that locks the touchscreen cable in disintegrated when I went to latch it, and so now I've got a great looking screen with no touch capabilities. I gave up and ordered a working used phone on eBay. :(

  • @tbase99 Im sorry it turned out that way for you, those connectors are fragile..

  • @iRepairFast Thanks, they sure are. I think probably the heat inside the phone over time turns the plastic on the lock-down tabs brittle. I'd still try to repair my own phone, but I don't think I'll be buying any more busted ones in hopes of fixing it to save a few bucks :-)

  • @tbase99 That is definitely a possibility, Once in a while there are unforeseen issues with repairs, the best you can do is learn from them and keep pushing on, dont give up!

  • Hey thanks for the vid and al the tips that you give to make this a great repair.. I wanted to know what the name of the 3M adhesive tape that you use is. I'm pretty sure you use the optimal product for this repair and I am looking to follow along the same lines.. thanks

  • @Whoslatino Thanks for the compliment! Please Subscribe! As far as the adhesive, check out ebay, search "htc evo 4g adhesive, if its 3M tape it will be sufficient,

  • when i did this my other screen wouldnt cut on.....why is that?

  • @solekidtee23 Possibility that you did not connect the LCD cable into the logic board.

  • Plastic light diffuser??? I don't remember seeing that when replacing the screen. I also don't recall that being in the video. Did I miss something??? Well thanks anyways......other than that everything else works.

  • @thugwill If you look at 9:29 on the Video it shows the clear plastic pieces, If your screen did not come with them you would have needed to pull them off and put them on the new screen. This transfers light from the main board to the buttons...

  • Thanks to this video operation EVO was a success. I manage to replace my broken screen however, I just noticed that my 4 buttons on the bottom don't light up.....why is that?

  • @thugwill Thanks! Please Subscribe! Did you put the clear plastic light diffusers back onto the glass?

  • Your a pro

  • hey, 1 last question. it seems as if its processing slower. do u know what may have caused this and how to fix it. like if im on camera and turn it real fast it glitches out the screen and then takes a few seconds to get the picture like it freezes. and its acting slow. maybe a loose connection but idk

  • @LilManAbs Try and do a hard reboot on the phone and make sure its fully updated.

  • @LilManAbs Glad you got it back together, there is nothing like a successful repair! Not a big fan of super glue, it makes future repairs rather horrible, but great job! Subscribe!

  • i finished mine, great video. everything works normally. i also on the bottom edges and top edges where you put tape i put a gel super glue. jst on the outer case lip and it helps seal it. not normal super glue bc its to ruiny

  • ok i started pulling off the glass, it seems as if the lcd is kind of sticking to the glass

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, why after do you heat up the glass again, does it not bond the tape without heat?

  • @LilManAbs It helps to bond the screen by making the adhesive more pliable creating a tighter seal, also pushing out any air pockets that might be between the screen and adhesive.

  • Thanks!

  • @3LD3VIL You are very welcome!
