How exactly is a hunk of molded plastic a slut? I keep seeing this argument on here, but no one will explain how this can be aside from the video's creator who is very mistaken. Barbie was based on the creator's daughter (of the same name) a fact which is "common knowledge." I would love to see your evidence supporting this claim, however, if it does exist.

you know what i did to myscene dolls just last month? i threw them down the col-de-sac, put one of them just behind the wheels of my dads car, one of them got headless and is still stuck in a flowerpot and one of them now has bite marks all over it (my good lil dog) and you know what? they still didn't tell me who they were working for...

Now people, it's a little too extreme to say they are skanky because they are plastic toys. A plastic doll cannot be skanky. They may be dumb to some people, but plastic toys are not skanky/slutty. Just saying.

I have nothing against you maiming these dolls. But what about Barbie implies that girls should be "gold-diggers?" Barbie has a million accessories and playsets to make her be anything- doctor, veterinarian, artist, etc. As far as I've seen, no such playsets exist for Ken. In fact, I don't remember the last time I saw a male Barbie on the shelf. What connection is there between Barbie and relying on men? If there is any problem with Barbie, it's probably the reinforcement of gender roles.

How is Barbie a slut? How can plastic be slutty? Barbie never does anything a child couldn't imagine her doing and somehow I doubt many kids pretend she is whoring around. I can give you that they may lead to poor self image, though personally I never felt I would/should look like ANY of my dolls. That may have been related to the fact that they aren't real people. Does anyone claim little girls thought babies should look like Cabbage Patch Kids?? No, because that's absurd.
