How many of us have reached that point in life? Closing time doesn't have the appeal it did in the beginning. Closing time at home is much better after a while.

It can be interpreted on 3 levels: 1.a night at the bar,with the impending hook-ups and the "johnny walker wisdom running high";2.the meaning of life and impending death,finally figuring out that the awful truth "isn't worth a dime" right before the "boss" busts everybody in the blinding lights;3.the ultimate love song: "sigh, cry, hungry kiss" that turns into "sorrow and a sense of overtime". I am an American living in Copenhagen. Cohen just played here a couple weeks ago and the papers said it was the best show since Elvis was here (I assume they mean b4 he supposedly died :) ). Compare that to the review of KISS a month ago calling them painted corpses...

Actually, I think from international blogs I've been on that Cohen is internationally recognized. This song is brilliant and came about fairly late in his carrer, which i don't believe is over yet.
