Denise (Cliff's oldest daughter) married a divorced Soldier (enters at 3:27) who had a baby from his previous marriage. (Olivia) They all live at the house (except the soldier who only comes every few months on leave of absence.) Hope that clears things up for you :-)

Oh and the girl at 2:15 is Claire's cousin Pam. She moved in with them since her mother couldn't really provide for her.

@keiratrinidad olivia is denises' stepdaughter and denise is cliff's daughter. paula is olivia's and she was only in two episodes and she and denise got along really well. the one at 2:14 is cousin pam. she is the daughter of clair's cousin so that makes her clair's second cousin. she moved in with the huxtable's because her mum works a lot and she needed help so clair suggested to help. denise (lisa bonet) got fired that why she isn't in this episode. i hope this will help you i know a lot!!!!

Denise might not have been trying to be her mother...but even if she was, there is nothing wrong with that...a mother is more than the woman that gave birth to you...that title comes with qualifications of love, nurture...and Denise fits that...think about it, the husband was going out to sea but he (and the court) still preferred to keep Olivia with the step mom( Denise) ...I would say she has earned the title...

I don't think Denise was trying to be her mother, after all Olivia's mum was still alive. As long as they had a good relationship and i think they had a great one and Denise still had a lot of growing up to do herself...
