That's the fault of the DS. The system just has bad music capabilities. Look at DKR64 vs DS. Of course that was the 64, but still. It's clear they focused on upgrading sound effects versus the SNES and GBA, and made a tradeoff against what they could have done for music.

NOVA could be an SSBB stage: you start on a platform outside of NOVA itself, then after a bit fly inside it. Then your platform blows up, and you have to run on the cogs and other mechanichal objects as you run through it. NOVA can speed himself up and slow down at will, and theres a LOT of stuff trying to crush you. Then you get to the Heart, and must avoid the life-support pillars and the Heart's electrical blasts. Then it ejects you and you start again.
