  • Is wonderful

  • @danielzeak Thank you!

  • This

  • This piece only proves the simplier you speak the more understood you are.

  • @Max0Inq I agree - and that is why composers like Einaudi, Michael Nyman and Philip Glass are so popular with fans of many other genres than just 'classical'.

  • It's times like this I wish I played piano. Curse being a lowly oboist, haha. Gorgeous song. Added to my favorites.

  • @TheMartyr Thanks very much. Of course the oboe is a scarce instrument (at least here in UK) and if you can play it well, you are never short of work. And at least you can carry it around and are not obliged to play electronic substitutes (like we pianists are!).

  • @PSearPianist Beautiful piece. In my opinion, I think you played this better than anyone else who has done a cover of this song. It's truly remarkable how evocative this song is, and it seems to be more about the tempo of the song rather than the actual notes. I applaud your use of drawing out a lot of the notes rather than letting them hang before puncutating them with another immediatelly after. Great work, my friend. :)

  • @TheTouristArrives Thank you very much. Your kind and thoughtful comment is much appreciated!

  • i cant use english to translate my opinion, my mind because its to hard for me that i will write in my language :-)

tego utworu nie można przewinąć ten utwór trzeba wysłuchać w całości. Ten utwór to natchnienie do wspomnień, rozbudzania wyobraźni. Po prostu cudo :-)

  • @sosen83 Dziękuję za komentarz - myślisz, że grał kawałek zbyt szybko? Myślę, że moje tempo jest podobna do ścieżki dźwiękowej filmu. (my attempt at Polish)

  • @PSearPianist i think it was great ! I have the same feel as the original :-) the best cover on YT.Good work !

  • @sosen83 Dziękujemy. Cieszę się, że możesz podobała im!

  • oh love this piano version! can't wait till Clint Mansell does Mass Effect 3

  • @10teeleaf Thank you. I'm sure it will be good!

  • @10teeleaf Mansell writes score for ME3? I just felt like I got a present from Santa :)

  • @Max0Inq Indeed he has, It will make for a suitably epic score to what will be an epic finale from the M.E franchise, Or Shepard's part anyway.

  • @joshualeewarren101 It is. Thank you!

  • this is passion

  • @rephlax Thank you - I hope so!

  • Beautiful....this piece of music (and all the other from The Fountain) makes me want to cry..makes me sleepy...wow..its gorgeous...great job

  • @adri173 Thank you - that's really kind, and I am glad you liked it!

  • Out of all the people who have played this song on the piano and put it up on YouTube...yours is the best version I've heard. :)

    Absolutely beautiful.

  • @ConservativeSamizdat That's really kind, and much appreciated.

  • this song is so beautiful..I'm learning it and it brings a lot to passion to play it like you did :) awesome piano skills !!

"The Fountain"is the most touching movie ever...

  • @Liztheboss Thank you - and good luck with your own study of the piece!

  • lovely, absolutely breath taking tune and performance

  • @Darkinners Thank you very much for that!

  • Brilliant! i play the piano and i hope to be able to play as beautifully as you when I'm older some day and inspire people :)

  • @chin2000000 Thank you. I am sure you will achieve your aim - hopefully a long time before you reach my age!

  • @AndreasduBlanche Thank you for your kind comment; I am pleased to have played something that means so much to you.

  • Amazing job sir!

My bf and I have been listening to your rendition when we want to hear it :)

  • @mediherb That's great to hear - glad you enjoy it!

  • my fav music

  • @jayanth1255 Thank you - I hope I do it justice!

  • stupid movie

    awesome soundtrack

and a very excellent solo from this guy

  • @oaltom Thank you!

  • @ Your performance: The Chorus is alittle faster than It's original, I must say.

@ The Song : Touching, It reminds me about days when my heart contained many kinds of emotion (Hate, confusing, lies, cold, lost, fear, love, afraid, jelous, heartbreak, hope).

  • @MymemoriezZ Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I guess I played the piece as I felt it at the time, although I certainly listened to the soundtrack beforehand.

  • I absolutely love this. Great version of a beautiful song.

  • @wtbpromo Thank you for that kind comment.

  • i think youve got it, but you need to slow it down, the original is very slow. unless your doing a different interpretation that is

  • @symtomofbetrayl I certainly listened to the original before making my video, so I guess this speed was my interpretation. I wasn't aiming to clone the soundtrack version.

  • @Mrjustinqqq I'm not sure if I should be pleased or sorry - I hope the former!

  • Excellent!

  • @xmitchawayx Thank you!

  • definetly...!

  • @sebbbeeeuuuhhh I wish.....

  • the best...

  • @loreprince78 I'm glad you like the piece.

  • I liked this video very much. Just out of curiousity have you ever seen the movie? Since I have not I'm a bit interested in knowing what it's about.=)

  • @EinaudiRulez Thank you. I haven't actually seen the movie (although I listened to the soundtrack recording to help me prepare this piece).

  • Clint Mansell - Memories (Someone We'll Never Know), I'd love to hear you play it, so so much.

  • @BENebuchadnezzar Thanks - I shall look out for that piece.

  • Perhaps I am just very used to the original version, but your cadence is much different and it loses the overall sad drawn out feeling and feels rushed at times.

  • @wbillich I suppose I just added my own interpretation there.

  • Clint Mansell!!!!!

  • That sounds so lovely, i could listen all day :) i play piano myself a bit i would love to be able to play like this

  • Thank you for your kind comment. And keep working at your own playing!

  • Thank you very much, Mr. Sear. It´s a great pleasure to listen this so beautiful music. Greetings from Recife, Brazil!

  • Thank you for that. I hope you are enjoying carnival week - it is far too cold here in England to even think of such things!

  • @PSearPianist

Mr. Sear, I deeply respect your talent. I can watch this video 10X for day.

  • That's great to hear. Thank you!

  • Beautiful, it sounds amazing. Thanks for uploading this video. Keep it up!

  • Thank you - I'm glad you liked it!

  • nice !! keep playing ! i love your piano skill!

  • Thank you. I will certainly keep playing in 2010! Happy New Year.

  • nice song!! i love it so much.. nice playing but i think you play it sometimes a little too fast..it's only my opinion..however congratulation for your numerous video :-) bye

  • Thanks very much. When I do these covers of movie soundtracks I am conscious that the OST versions are so familiar that any other interpretation can sound 'wrong'. I suppose I try to tailor my interpretations to my piano, acoustic, technique etc., and differences in tempo etc are bound to arise.

  • Very well played

  • Thank you!

  • no, no ,no.............thank you we say you

it´s sure , you play wonderfull

p.d: do you know the themes "prelude - vangelis" and "humility - Wim Mertens"

  • I think I know the Vangelis (is that 'Chariots of Fire'?) but do not have a score. I don't know 'Humility' at all.

  • the songs "prelude" of vangelis and "humility" of the composer Wim Mertens are beautiful themes for piano.this was the reason of tell you.

    thank you

    carlos

    spain

  • You are really good, it's amazing. it's song is so beautifull and you play it so well !

  • That's very kind - I'm gald you enjoyed it!

  • absolutely perfectly done

you have a clear passion and talent

brilliant choice of song i might add

  • That's really kind. Thank you!

  • This was very beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talent with us and thank you for the choice of the piece. Long live Clint Mansell and his music! Thank you!

  • Thank you for your very kind comment!

  • A wonderful Piece.& Very well played, as always ;)

I wonder if you know "Requiem for a Dream" of Clint Mansell? I think its also very beautiful.

  • Thank you! I don't know the piece you mention - I will have to look out for it.

  • Well done, it is obvious that you are a good pianist but it also helps that the sound quality on this video is legit. It's like listening to a song of a cd.

  • Thank you. Your comment on the sound quality is particularly appreciated. I do not attempt to emulate near-CD quality (some videos do achieve that) and I am aware that my camera mic, tho stereo, does flatten the dynamics. I do try to choose my music accordingly, so there is little loud or 'barnstorming' music on my channel!

  • So simple yet so elegant.

  • That's a very good assessment of the piece!

  • this song makes me die and be reborn

  • That's an interesting comment, and one I'm sure the composer would appreciate if you were able to contact him!

  • Mansell ! lovely lovely

    thank you for uploading this!

  • It's a pleasure!

  • A beautiful song played beautifully, thank you for uploading this!

  • Thanks very much!

  • Very good. This is my first time listening.

  • Thank you very much!

  • absolutely incredible, and very moving.. I wish I could play the piano even a minuscule fraction of the way you can!

  • That's a very kind comment. I have been playing for a long time - and after so many years I should really be better than I am!

  • oh, i like those songs so much!!! Fountain soundtracks are really awesome!

  • Mansell seems to have become very popular!

  • I absolutely love this movie and Mansell... as of right now i am learning "Death is the Road to Awe", one of the last songs played on the movie, and one of my favorite songs of all time. I thoroughly enjoyed this cover. you give this song the soul that Mansell wanted it to have.

  • Thank you! I shall have to look out for the new Mansell 'Moon OST' that has just been released here in the UK.

  • WOW! YOUR ARE REALLY GREAT!

Were can i pick up a copy of the sheet music. I am trying to get my sister to play this for me. FIVE STARS!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. It is in a book called 'Essential Film Themes' - volume 4 I think. I do not actually have it, and borrowed the copy I used for the video from a library!

  • You're not Clint Mansell. I thought it was him playing this. Good playing, but I wanted to see Mansell.

  • Sorry if I gave the impression I was. By convention I always put the composer and title of the piece first on the video, and then have a slide saying that I am playing the piece. I didn't know there was a video of Mansell playing this.

  • Lol, you're an ass, but I love you.

  • Wow, only unbelieveble BEAUTIFULL!!

  • Thank you - it is a good piece and deserves to be more popular.

  • you inspired my best friend to play this at our school talent show and he got first!!!

    Thank you!

  • Thank you. I am delighted to hear that. It is a really good piece to peform at an occasion like that. It is not too difficult - but interesting and long enough to make an ijmpression on the judges!

  • I wish I could play piano this good..This is one of my favorite piano songs currently.

    Nice playing

  • Thank you - and keep working on your own playing as I have done for many years!

  • You have put a great deal of expression and yourself into this music. It starts with a slight hint of sunset and the soft sounds of the bugle as the White Ensign is gently folded and removed for the night: and the next call will be reveillle at daybreak to awaken the crew..Many thanks.Jannarta.

  • Thanks for your comment and also the interesting imagery.

  • So beautiful sound you play. Your musik makes me smile and cry... Thank you very much. I also love small piano pieces. I would like to play what you perform :)

    美しい音色、ありがとう。This is Japanese.

  • Thank you for your kind comment. Not too much crying please! A lot of what I play is not difficult and within reach of many pianists!

    日本の言語であなたのようなコメントをしていただきありがとうございます。

  • Thank you.

  • Beautifully played!

I would love to hear you do a rendition of "Death is the Road to Awe" from the same movie/composer. :D

  • Thank you. I will listen to it, and consider playing it if it is published.

  • Beautiful. piece and performance.

  • Thanks - it is indeed a really worthwhile piece. I always like music that is written with economy of means and relies on the performer to put expression into it.
